A reader sent me a link to this eye-popping morphing video montage of the beautiful faces of Hollywood leading ladies over the years. There is a vague, eerie similarity among all the faces.
Beautiful women aren’t clones of each other but neither do they deviate too far from the primary beauty script. For instance, no one would mistake Nicole Kidman for Halle Berry but they both share those essential features that capture men’s hearts — large eyes, prominent cheekbones, small chins and noses, facial symmetry, succulent lips, and clear smooth skin.
Note the zero difference hair styles make to the women’s beauty.
Who’s your favorite? Mine’s a toss-up between Audrey Hepburn and Vivian Leigh. I’m curious if there is a pattern in what my female and male readers choose as their favorites.
(Jodie Foster is proof that there is something identifiably strange going on with lesbians’ upper row of teeth.)
PS: Does anyone know what classical tune is playing in the video? It seems like the perfectly suited soundtrack for self-pleasuring to admiring beautiful female faces.

The tune is the opening piece of the final Suite – in d major – of Bach’s Suites for solo cello.
I know I’m right about the Bach, and the suites for solo cello, but I may have the rest of the info a little off. I’m sure you’ll hear from plenty of people who can set you straight, if I’m wrong.

There is a whole history of research on the “ratios” of Facial and Human Beauty.
It is hard to remember it all right now, but a few things that pop to mind:
– The Eyes should be half-way between the top of the skull and the Chin.
– The Mouth should have each corner reaching to about the middle of the respective eye.
– The Breasts should be one Head-Length below the head. The Waist should then be one Head-Length below the Breasts
The list goes on and on. And, unsurprisingly, the Golden Ration plays a huge role in all of this.

How important is women’s height in their overall attractiveness?
My understanding was that a womans height was more important to the woman than the man. That is, that women much preferred that a man be, say, 3 inches taller, or more, than she is.
Whereas with men, generally, Wasit-Hip Ratio, Facial Beauty and Curvaceousness were much more important.
(That one sentence in my previous post should read: And here is a critique of the first site, saying that it relies too much on European Females with Masculine features.)

How important is height? Depends. Fashion models and international beauty pageant contestants are about 5’8 or 5’9 on average, sexy celebrities are about 5’6 on average, while adult film stars are perfectly average at about 5’4.
Search http://www.gnxp.com for “height” and any of the above phrases for the data. My interpretation of these facts are that you need to be taller to land a higher-status guy for marriage, and that such men are interested in taller women so that they can show them off in public. Signaling their high-status in this way allows them to attract many more women for on-the-sly mating.
What’s this about lesbians’ upper row of teeth, btw? When I think of funny upper teeth, I think of the overbite that Spanish women tend to have (which is adorable).

I don’t think I saw her in this video, but I’ve had a girl crush on Liv Tyler since I first saw her in Armageddon with Ben Affleck. The whole time I didn’t care one bit for him and only had eyes for her. I totally fell in love with Arwen in Lord of the Rings. Big blue eyes and long black hair. Those curves under her eyes and that demure smile… /swoon.
Ever since I was little I’ve loved looking at beautiful women more than men. I inherited an artistic eye from my father’s side and would always draw pretty girls with pretty dresses. I collected (and still do to some extent) photos of women I found gorgeous. Personally I prefer the “pure,” “innocent” or “beautiful” look of say Natalie Portman over the “sultry,” “voluptuous” look that for example Pamela Anderson has.
I also work with the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen in person. She’s easily a 9.5 and could be an actress or model, has impeccable sense of fashion and style, and has an incredibly sweet and feminine personality. She’s on the short side and very petite, but that just adds to her cuteness. I met her husband, and he didn’t seem at all an “alpha” — my theory is that more feminine women don’t want extremely alpha and asshole-ish men, but rather want a guy who is husband material (and she is still in her prime).
Beautiful girls are such eye candy. Love them!

#5 Shorty: How important is women’s height in their overall attractiveness?
The short answer is “not very.” The long answer is “Not very, as long the woman in question isn’t a statistical outlier on either end.” It seems, evolutionarily speaking, that men should have a preference for taller women (in order to have taller offspring), but in practice this doesn’t seem to be the case: If you put a 5’5″ 8-pointer next to a 5’10” 7-pointer — with all other things being roughly equal — 90% of men will go with the shorter, hotter woman.
Inasmuch as it matters at all, the only real rule is that men generally don’t want women taller than themselves — which dovetails with women’s much-stronger-by-comparison desire for men taller than they are.

agnostic – i’ve had a passing acquaintance with quite a few lesbians in my life and i’ve noticed nearly all of them shared the same peculiarly shaped upper teeth, similar to what is seen with jodie foster. the best way to describe it is that their teeth tend to be smaller and more tightly bunched, with a “shoveled” look turning inward toward the palate a bit. their gums descend lower on the teeth as well.
i suspect, based on anecdotal observation only, that whatever biological process causes lesbianism also affects the dentition.

Isn’t the whole tall fashion model thing because of the large amount of gay men in the fashion industry? Gay men who dislike breasts?

You might wanna check out Rita Hayworth, who pops up at about 29 seconds into the video montage. She’s a lot sexier than Hepburn, who seemed too girlish to me.
Here’s some nice Rita pics, but Googling will turn up sexier stuff.

I suppose 5ft 1in would fall under the “statistical outlier” range. I’ve had a guy tell me to my face that I was just too short. However, I do have the trick of high heels in my favor. More difficult for a guy! Although I read an article yesterday about a guy who wore special shoes for short men and it changed his life.

Yes, mq, I think you’re right about this one. The women of the 1910-20 period, before “bobbing” and modern makeup came into fashion, stand out particularly as different in kind from later actresses, with their eyes slanting slightly downward, small cupid’s bow mouths, and invisible cheekbones – although there are many differences among the latter as well.

The early 20th century actresses “do it” for me moreso than the later ones. Grace Kelly and Liz Taylor are standouts.
The earlier women also were more consistent in that the changes between them was hardly noticeable.
Except later on, when you have more “between-race” morphs do you notice much variance (and even then, it’s not a “ton”). If it were possible to have a morphing sequence with straight headshots of the same size, it’d be likely that a person outside of the western world would think it was one white woman changing hairstyles!

I think his tendency to over-theorize is blinding him to what he’s seeing. There’s a ton of variance in facial structure in that video. There’s a lot of women with round faces and not very prominent cheekbones, and a lot with very angular faces and prominent cheekbones. Substantial variance in chin size too.
The major thing they all have in common in that they are all young, healthy, slim to the very lower end of medium build, and have wonderful skin (or at least good makeup).
Part of what might be going on is that not all those women are sex symbols — the young Judy Garland certainly wasn’t — but there’s still a lot of variance. Especially considering this one industry, one country, over just 50 years.

Liz Taylor and Grace Kelly belong to the mid-twentieth century, not the early part of it. The early girls were Mary Pickford, Lilian Gish, Louise Brooks, Theda Bara, et al. There are probably others who were even earlier than that, but I don’t know their names.

Yes, I was wrong about the Suite No. and key – bad memory and fundamental lack of musicality – though I do love music and this is one of my all-time favourites. Someone else above already gave the correct particulars.

Clearly beauty comes from perfect symmetry of the face. All those women and men have nearly perfect symmetry. Still it’s a little ignorant to measure beauty purely by face. Since there are obvious factors that effect the total package such as figure, personality and presence. Personally my favorites are Natalie Portman and Audrey Hepburn. Can’t leave out Victoria Secret models either Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambriosso are perfect. Damn European women like cars are superior than American… 😛
