I was walking with a friend down a city street here in the city and we took a running tally of all the cute girls we passed. We lost count. No sooner were we leering at admiring one hot chick when another one appeared and stole our attention. I wondered if this was how lions felt when there were too many prey animals to choose from on the veldt — overwhelmed to the point of inaction.
One of the routes I frequently take has tons of chicks.
That’s an average of 70 inspiring girls along this heavily-trafficed route. I rarely see repeats, except for the Pink Ladies loitering in front of Asylum. This route is probably the second best in city for day game, just behind Kansas.
As you can see, the center city is a magnet for girls who want to sit on the benches and pretend to type on laptops.
This heavy concentration of babes in parts of the city can lead a man to mistakenly believe the whole world is a playground of available women ripe for his charms. He may then conclude there is no hurry to approach any one girl since there’s always another one coming. Such a flawed perspective needs a reality check, so I’ve put together a handy chart that shows indisputably how few acceptable girls there are in an average day for a man to hit on.

From my chart, the pickings are slim. For every 100 women in a youth-oriented city that attracts good-looking girls from all over the country, you will be aroused by 35 of them, and have an outside shot at gratifying your arousal with only 15.
To put it in another perspective, since most men agree on what constitutes a 7 and above, you’re competing with 100 other guys for 15 vaginas. Do you have what it takes to be in the top 15%?
Ha. When I lived in that part of DC (N Street) in the early 90s, nearly all the men were gay, but I didn’t realise it at first. Being then at the height of my youthful good looks (ahem!), I often wondered why so few men appeared to notice me, except the homeless fellows at the Metro stations who used to call “hey baby” and “hey blondie”.
It’s good to think that times have changed for women in DC…

I think that there are two major differences when Guys are in environments with few Girls and when Girls are in environments with Few Heterosexual Guys.
1. It seems to me that when some Guy is in Saddle River, NJ instead of Manhattan or Hoboken, it is because of his Job. I don’t think this is as much the case with Girls. I think that so many Girls instinctively know to stay near and in Urban areas. Guys tend to follow the best Career Path (to whatever Exurban hole it my bring him).
2. Yes, Girls can just go to a bar/club. I can easily understand why many people would not go to a club. But it certainly is an option for Girls who would like some Male attention. For Guys, they need to find the Girls, wherever they are. And, after that, then do the approaching.

I was recently in Miami Beach. Tons of gorgeous girls working in restaurants, stores, etc. Many looked like dolled-up, blondish, long-legged, gym-working-out Eastern Europeans, but since I heard most of them them talking in fluent Spanish or in English with a Hispanic accdent, they were probably Cuban.

because the 28-35 age bracket is filled with post-grad women knee deep in their careers who are no longer interested in causal relationships. they want marriage, so they are pickier about who to date. because of these factors, more of them are single at any given time than their younger sisters.

Not sure. I know that I find some things easier to read than others. I like te idea that the “eye” will be drawn to certain things, and, therefore, help them stand out.

Whenever I visit my parents in Central Delaware, I always see this obviously miliatary guys (Air Force Base in Dover) with fat girls.

UL- Being former military I can tell you that it cuts both ways depending on where you are from. The guys from smaller towns tended to have hotter girlfriends (wives) than guys from larger towns. It could be opportunity, availability or just small town mentality that makes a soldier more attractive.
Also, it takes a certain type of girl to be able to live the life. Independence is a key factor as we tended to be gone a lot.
Then again it could be that the guys are forced to work out daily, depending on duty, and the wives sit at home and eat.

As a side note. I was in DC a few weeks ago for a meeting. I do not believe I have ever seen a higher concentration of hot anywhere outside of Denmark. The women that work on M Street alone could invoke a lifetime of study.

lots of hotties in miami, but probably the world’s highest percentage of the ‘pure golddigger’ variety (= no chance of a hookup without draining your wallet, unless you’re a famous athlete, rapper, etc). still, there are so many hot young girls that you’re bound to do well.
also, obviously, the beach is a sweet venue for day game.
if you don’t speak spanish, learn it; the city is a playground of hot, relatively easy south american and island chicks.

Guys shouldn’t be put off by this — that’s only 1 standard deviation above average, like being 6’1 or taller (for White Americans). We’re not talking 6’7 NBA players.
That’s another thing that immobilizes the lion, as you say — not just being overwhelmed by choice, but by the self-doubt that he may not be the super-lion who wouldn’t have to choose and could hunt down every last zebra in front of him.
If you think Dupont or Georgetown are packed with hotties — go to the Gelman Library at GW during peak hours (maybe 11 – 3 early in the school week), and when the weather gets warm enough when coeds shed their jeans and parkas for athletic shorts and tank-tops.
Actually, I think you need some kind of college ID to get in if you don’t pay a small yearly sum to get access. But there are still a good handful hanging outside and in the Starbucks right nextdoor. That’d be a great day game spot.

For some reason, you would suspect that some inflated ego or elevated sense of dignity would force people to simply hold out, but yet these people lower their standards and marry people who they never would have considered. Is the drive to mate and have children that strong or is it simply societal pressure placed on us to follow the de facto path of our ancestors to mate and have children? One would have suspected that in our modern world that we would have been freed from such constraints and free to say “I want a hot girl (or guy) and fuck the rest of you ugly people”. Besides, wouldn’t the act of mating with the presumed non-hot person destroy one’s self-esteem and induce depression?

I’m in Miami regularly and yes, I’d say that the women are even hotter in Miami than NYC where I live (in Manhattan). A ton of Latin women and yes lots of golddiggers. That’s prolly cause most of the women don’t have the career ambitions that Manhattanite chicks have, nor the credentials, so they’ve got to pay for the lifestyle somehow. Namely diggin. Sometimes high end prostitution. Yeah I said it.

Aside from some of the popular bars in Old Town Alexandria and Arlington, the place I always found to be rife with head-turning young women was the Capitol South Metro station, immediately AFTER morning rush hour.
Try it, and if you hit the station at just the right time, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Go there from about 8:30 – 10:00 am and see what you see.
Why immediately after morning rush? That’s when all the stunning secretaries, AAs, and other office hotties women go to work. Since they’re unofficially “kept” women, retained by the Hill elite (not just congressional offices, but lobbying firms) mainly for their looks, they are privileged enough to be allowed to come to work later than the rest of the peonage.
Also, Roissy, you’re absolutely right that DC is loaded with inspiring women (much to the contrary of those who denigrate DC’s reputation as a hotbed of female pulchritude — sour grapes, I say)… but have you been to LONDON lately???

Roissy, you overestimated the hotness of 18-year-olds and underestimated it in mid-20’s women. Until 24 or so, I would say the percent of hotties stays about the same, and then begins its sharp drop. 90% of 18 year olds are at least a 7? Nah.

As I used to live in South Beach… I can chime in with…. -one of the reasons why SoBe has so many hot women living there is because there are a ton of modeling agencies there. A lot of the women you see working in the various restaurants/bars on Ocean are also models. DC is not especially model heavy. Aside from Spanish, French is also a good language to master for SoBe.
Of course, another factor is… since it is a beach, posey place, the pressure to stay fit is high… where as here in DC, the pressure is not that high.
Another thing to be aware of there… is the fact that not some, but actually quite a bit of the hot women you see in clubs there are “working girls.” I used to see some regularly at the Cleve… hot, young, (twentysomethings) “hookers”….

I was in London a few months ago and I have to strongly disagree with your assessment. In walking around and going out basically the only hot girls that I saw were either S.Asians or French / Italian / Russian girls. London is great in that you can find these girls in decent numbers but man are the natives ugly. By the end of my first week there I would eavesdrop on conversations of hot women just to see if they were speaking English to each other; I got 0 hits.

Actually, your odds are probably even worse than that. Most of those few attractive, available chicks want to date the very high-end alpha guys. These guys are happy to nail the 7s and 8s, but they will almost never keep them on for relationships. For that they’ll have 9s and 10s. So the 7s and 8s won’t usually give the 85th – 90th percentile guys a shot bc they think they have a shot with the 99th percentile guys. It’s self-defeating for them if a relationship is what they’re after.
