The answer to this question is less obvious than it would seem.

But it is also true that 80% of the world’s attractive women would bang Obama given the chance. The Lincoln bedroom would be a misty hothouse of evaporated sex juices. Obama would have his choice of fillies. His pull would be on par with Clooney and Depp combined. According to my definition of alpha male, Obama easily fits the bill.
If that wasn’t enough to establish alphaness (and it is), he is also the leader of the most powerful nation on earth. Furthermore, there are credible rumors that Obama has partaken of a younger, prettier mistress. Alpha.
This presents a conundrum. Clearly, in public at least, he gives off the whiff of the browbeaten docile husband when Michelle is by his side. How to square this contradiction?
Those who believe Obama is a closet beta must discard all the evidence to the contrary of his alphaness and focus on his relationship with his scrotesqueezing maneater wife Michelle. They must also assume that Obama is equally as beta with Michelle in private. But is that necessarily true? Perhaps she knows something about him and has threatened to divorce him, so he placates her by letting her power trip in public. Maybe he bosses her around in the house and likes to reward her private submission with the freedom to act out like a fierce feminist icon in public. Many alpha males happily relinquish their power to their wives, if for no other reason than to take a break from running the show. We just don’t know enough to establish the theory of Obama’s betatude.
Even if Obama were acquiescing to Michelle’s ballcutting out of fear, as he would if he wanted to keep the sex freely flowing and the happy smiley family facade propped up, it still wouldn’t tip the scales away from Obama’s inherent alphaness. The standard of proof is simple: Do women want to fuck him, or do they not? They do. Michelle’s public emasculation of him is just a tiny pebble on the mountain of pussy swooning for Barack that she knows could quickly and easily displace her. The campaign is over. She is expendable.
Verdict: Obama is an alpha.
I admit, this part has made me partially reassess whether he is alpha or not. But what will really convince me is how he deals with Russia, who are already gearing up to test him, obviously viewing him as weak:

I agree he an alpha now, but he may have had to learn to be one.
I have read that when he was younger he was very insecure and unsure of himself. He lacked the personal confidence he has in spades now. Also, he badly wanted to have a real family life instead of the half-ass shit his mother stuck him with.
My theory is he was a beta back when he met and married his wife and over time grew that all important self confidence. At some point he agreed to let his feminist nut of a wife act the way she does in public in exchange for him fucking every high ranking girl in sight.

I think being President of the United States pretty much gives you about 90% of what you need to be considered an alpha male.

How much or how often can a man let others take the lead and still be an alpha? Most men are dominant in some areas and more laid back in others. Besides, very high T levels don’t necesarily get you positions of power and women. High T can easily make a man impulsive, violent and generally antagonistic; not the best personality for dating or climbing the corporate ladder. And how aggressive can a beta be before he becomes alpha.

I wouldn’t judge Hillary’s looks by what she looks like now as an old lady. No one is sexy at her age. At her best, Hillary could scrape in under the wire as a 7 or at least a 6.5. Her unsexy rep comes from the fact that in her younger days she tended to dress in the drab uniform of a 70s feminist and from the fact that she has a boring, moralistic personality. Not a bad choice though, if you are a hyper-ambitious Democratic politician who wants a decent looking partner who shares with you your drive for the top.
And BTW Bill had her under his thumb. I don’t recall any incident where she tried to emasculate him.

She is very popular with many female voters, particularly though not exclusively black ones. If he chucks her and marries Scarlett Johanson (who flirted w/ him via email until Michelle raised hell) that would be a massive liability. She’ll have the White House staff to boss around, and as long as Barack keeps his affairs discreet they should be fine. I actually see him with someone like Rihanna. If Obama is alpha, it is by dint of being interpreted as an symbol, representative of a sweeping tide of historical momentum. Where would he stand, I wonder, had there not been a delirious democratic party–as well as widespread foreign moral support– bolstering his candidacy and, hence, his alpha status? More than this, where would he stand had 9/11 not taken place with all the collateral drama vis a vis Muslims, who America is constrained to treat ever so delicately lest they be inflamed with jihadist animosity.
Sorry for the skepticism, but I doubt Obama’s alpha status is due to any innate qualities unless his use of the blank slate can be considered a quality. But on the world stage with some of the bigger players and monsters out there, like Putin, the president of Iran and others, who I think are alphas on a whole other level, he is way out of his league. I think even Margaret Thacher and Golda Meir twice as alpha as Obama. It’s not that I think he can’t grow into the role, he’s just too young right now. I have mixed feelings about Obama’s alphaness. Obama is much harsher than most people realize. He won his first State Senate primary by throwing everyone (including the incumbent) off the ballot and won as the only name on the ballot. I’ll give him alpha points for that.
If you use Roissy’s narrow definition of alphaness, the ability to draw in tons of pussy, Obama has it. But that is almost entirely because of his political power. Henry Kissinger was often seen with starlets during his time as Secretary of State, the kind of women who would have no interest in him if he were still a international affairs professor. “Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac,” was his explanation. Likewise, if Barack Obama were still a constitutional law professor, Scarlett Johansson would have no interest in him.
A few days ago, Roissy wrote about how it can be a good thing to reject women. I think Barack Obama will do just that. I think Obama is much more disciplined than Bill Clinton and he will not do anything in his private life that will give ammunition. A contributing factor to Obama beating Hillary was that Democrats didn’t want to return to the psychodrama of the Clintons and Obama appeared to have a much more stable relationship with his respective spouse.
Michelle Obama is not at all expendable. There is no precedence for a President dumping for wife for a younger, hotter woman and the America people wouldn’t stand for it. This isn’t like Russia where Putin can shack up with a gymnast and have anyone who criticizes it be murdered by the secret police. Imagine the international embarrassment of the President of the United States in Divorce Court having his wife taking half his shit because there was no logical reason them to get a prenup in 1992. Also, imagine Michelle Obama going on 60 Minutes and Larry King to promote her tell-all book of how horrible Barack treated her.
In 2000, Obama challenged Bobby Rush for his US House. Rush, a former Black Panther, portrayed Obama as ineffectual nerd who wasn’t really connected with the black community. Rush won two to one over Obama and at the time, an objective observer would say that Rush was the bigger alpha.
Overall, I’d say Obama is a combination of “beta provider” and “tied-up alpha.”

Obama is Alpha. But has become one through the worldly distinction “empire building” route – as opposed to the “Casanova/Wilt Chamberlain” route, as others have argued.
Obama is a former community organizer with big ears. This is not a ‘Natural’ with women. Nor even necessarily charming.

What kind of a guy does things like this? It’s repulsive. But, then again, consider what kind of ruthlessness is going on at this level of human power.
For instance, LBJ famously held Cabinet meetings while sitting on the toilet with his bathroom door open. Why? Because he felt like it.
I find it interesting – as Roissy claims – that Obama has taken on a mistress. If true, it lends credence to the theory that no Alpha men – even if married – avoid this, regardless of politically correct platitude’s (beta – tudes)

If Obama was a true Alpha when he married Michelle 15 years ago, or whatever- would he have married someone like Michelle?

This post underlines why roissy defining an “alpha male” by how many chicks he could fuck doesn’t fit the way people in the seduction community use the term, which is a mash of contradictory concepts about “Real Manhood”.
This is why roissy’s formal definition frequently contradicts roissy’s own normal usage of the term.. because roissy also frequently tries to use it in this typical Bill Brasky sense, to mean conformity to his own fantasy ideal of Real Manhood.
Here he defines a man who takes a mistress and keeps full authority over his wife as a Real Man. But this is irrelevant to his formal definition.
It also contradicts my idea of Real Manhood. I think it’s ridiculous to define an “alpha male” like a gangsta rapper or an African dictator. My idea of Real Manhood is character, leadership, accomplishment, and temperance. I think that Obama, thankfully, fits closer to my idea of “Alpha”. His dad, on the other hand seemed to fit the more juvenile definition more closely as the boastful, self-interested asshole who uses his disproportionate power to enrich himself, before getting displaced. This is the typical life-cycle of the “alpha” in nature too.

There is nothing playa about Obama’s history. It sounds like he spent most of his 20s celibate, and mostly friendless, focused on his education and his career.. which has always been pretty shitty up until the 2000s. Obama had one low-paying, low-status job before he was a community organizer.. which was also a low-pay, low-status job.
He had one white girlfriend for about a year in his 20s, who he had sex with on the weekends. That seems to be about it.
Then he started dating Michelle, who he WAS inferior to, in his own eyes. This is because Michelle is a “Real” black while Obama is a poser black.
Obama’s career only really started to take off in the last several years, so the relationship dynamics could still change. But Obama’s life does not fit the popular idea of an “Alpha male”. It would not surprise me if the high testosterone, fully black Michelle, is the more dominant figure in her dyad with the low testosterone, half black, Obama.

Obama has plenty of alpha capital, and he has spent some of it on self-deprecation. He can afford to be self-deprecating when it comes to his wife because the people who are in his pool of possible voters eat that shit up. They love seeing a man who will listen to his doting wife. It shows what they view as family values, and it reminds them of their own marriages. Obama is a shrewd political beast, and his betaness is just a political facade. Bill Clinton tried to come off the same way, although we all know he is alpha-to-the-max. @32 T. I have to disagree that Obama won because he’s black. A statistical analysis run by Brad DeLong, an economist, shows that Obama lost 3% because of his race while gaining 4% from the economy and the other 4% spread from campaign and media. The black vote didn’t turn out in droves as expected, neither did the youth vote. Obama benefitted from a shift in recurring voters, not new voters. Recurring voters who voted for Bush are more beneficial because they are a 2-net swing whereas a newly registered voter is only a 1-net pickup.

Um, alpha social skills != presidential competence (though they do help with getting elected). For some of the same reasons an economy filled with alpha males is a Third World one.
And as for standing up to Putin, I’m unquestionably a beta nerds, but suffice it to say that I’m not the kind of person he could push around effectively. Many beta nerds like me will never surrender when defending something that matters to them.

@ 103: I don’t totally trust self-reporting. How many people are actually going to admit “I only voted for him because he’s black?” I doubt many would even admit as much to themselves. Not saying its the only reason. Some did it because of economy. Some did it because he’s simply not Bush. Some did it because he’s charismatic. And many did it because he was black. But he still ran a great campaign because he knew exactly how to exploit these factors.
Also, regarding youth and black turnout, it’s hard to judge. The percentages went up a few percentage points for black turnout, was almost the same percentage for youth, but this is misleading because the overall turnout was so much huger overall that EVERY group’s turnout amount increased. So it’s slightly larger percentages of black and youth, but of a much, much larger overall group, meaning that the claims of no change in turnout for these groups is disingenuous.

@ Rick – Well first of all, the 250 keeps getting lower. Second of all, it is not only his tax policy that is bad for the economy, but his embrace of increased regulations and less free trade.
I’d like to move the burden to you though. Forget the tax on the 250k+. Pretend he didn’t want to touch it. How will his ‘tax credits’ for people who don’t pay income taxes help the economy? By giving poor people an extra thousand dollars to spend once a year? If he gave $1000 to 100mm people, and all of them spent it, that would increase our $13 trillion economy to $13.1 trillion. Government handouts don’t bring prosperity back to “ALL of America”… they buy votes.
But maybe I’m missing something. Why do you think his economic plans will help? And please, actual economics, not empty rhetorical platitudes about “fairness”.

SA, 250+ is how its always been – those are people who will see the Bush taxes taken away. Below that your taxes either dont change or you get a tax cut. You dont offer any proof other than hopefulness that his tax policy, etc. is bad for the economy so I dont see any reason to educate you otherwise.
What I will say is that Bush’s tax plan and economic policies have been a failure. When you give a tax cuts that mostly benefits the rich, that only widens the gap between the rich and poor and shrinks the middle class – both things that are bad for any country.

Four years ago Obama had no money and nobody knew who he was. He got himself elected to the Senate and in a mere two years amassed a loyal army and crushed the Clinton machine, then the GOP machine on the strength of his charisma and superior organizational skills and became the most powerful man in the world. SA, nope, not what I was saying. You failed to offer any economic analysis of your own, so I’m just keeping with the theme of the exchange. My analysis of the failed Bush years serves simply as a model which has been proven ineffective. Not sure why we would continue on that same path, but again, I’d be happy to hear what makes you so certain that Obama’s tax plan is bad for the economy.

This is such bullshit. Read the comments by me and T above. Dude was practically a virgin until he was 30!!, when he started begging Michelle for pity dates. She was the only woman who could fulfill his life-long Pinocchio-like desire to feel like a Real Authentic Black Man.
As of 2007 even he was *still* being rejected by other blacks, and thus at the mercy of his Superior Black Wife.
But oh my, the tables are turned now. Jessie Jackson was seething about cutting Obama’s nuts off as early as this summer. But now he’s crying like a little girl on TV before his Black Better. Obama has become Alpha Black Man, and it will be interesting to see how this effects the power dynamics of his marriage.
Of course he can’t divorce her or cheat on her, because that would tarnish his impeccable respectable black guy legacy. He has become the biggest black role-model of all time. I’m not normally a fan, but South Park last night handled the Obama/McCain thing great. They basically did an Ocean’s 11 spoof with Palin, Michelle, McCain and Obama using the presidency to gain access to the Hope diamond while also parodying both the fanaticism of the Obama supporters and the fear of the McCain supporters. An excellent job of staying neutral by making fun of everyone.

Tangent alert: Is Obama poon whipped? Yes, without a doubt. As usual Roissy’s analysis is spot on.
I have to point something out though – about the relative nature of 1 – 10 scales. Michelle is a 5 to some posting here, but I can assure you that to other men she rates much higher.
For example, I pegged her at a low 7, I know many guys who would go as far as 8 or even an aging 9.
1-10 scales are relative – you have to keep in mind class and racial difference in perceptions of beauty. There are some universals but they play out differently when it comes to cultural and – perhaps even – genetic factors.
I am a bona fide dude of color, and my 8’s, 9’s, and 10’s in white girls tend to be judged differently by white guys, just as white guy’s 8’s, 9’s, in black girls often tend to elicit revulsion in me, and their 10’s are often 6’s or 7’s on my scale.
Example 1: Courtney Love. She’s a high 7, low 8, in my book – I’d bang her in a new york minute, anywhere, on principle alone. Most white guys I know find her to be trashy skank material, I actually think she’s pretty (in a skanky way).
Example 2: Brittny Spears: a 6, in my book, on a good day. An average 5 on a not so good day. Most brothers I know would peg her at a 4 – 5. White guys of a certain class, obviously, tend to rate her higher.
Example 3: Alek Wek. Sudanese super model, no self respecting black man I’ve ever known would put her over a 4… at best. Except one brother I know, and his tastes are frequently questioned in my circle…
Non PC Note: The class factor matters, Michelle is not “ghetto booty” material, her type of beauty is more likely to be appreciated by upwardly mobile “boughi boughi” suburban brothers.
The generalities in scales are universal, the particulars however are often not universal. This is how it should be, from an evolutionary standpoint, if we find attractive those individuals most genetically compatible with us…

By your definition (gets, or could get, a lot of pussy) then Obama is alpha. But this only because of his fame and power as president. Without them he would be lucky to score that ugly bitch he married. He is an actor and an empty suit. Women do not want him for himself, but for some image they put upon him. Many women see him as the personification of their ideal man (not hard when they do not know him intimately) but in person and in private I think he would quickly fall apart.
Remember, fame + power gets women wet. You could stick the biggest beta in the oval office and women would be throwing their panties at him.
Also, since fame, power and money allow men to fuck women then someone who may fuck many women (thus making him an alpha) could be a very weak person with an otherwise beta (or even omega) personality.
When it comes to the alpha/beta distinction excesses of money, wealth or fame can create distortions and allow betas to become alphas whilst still retaining their weak personality. Obama represents the latter IMO.
