October 2008 Comment Winner

November 10, 2008 by CH

It’s time to reveal the life-affirming, spiritually uplifting comment winners for the month of October.

The vote was unanimous. The October 2008 Comment Winner is Der Fuehrer on what it means to stand like an alpha.

I was in a club once. I was standing like a beta: arms crossed, legs crossed, hands held together and over my small penis and shriveled ball sack. I was such a beta I would wet myself when a woman walked passed me and even crap myself when she talked to me. Of course talking to me back then was, “Get out of my way, loser.” Afterwards I would cry.

Then I learned game. Now I am a man. I have fucked over 20,000 women, this summer alone.  I went to a Halloween party last year and everyone was admiring my alpha costume. I fucked 100 different women that night. I had to turn away 100 others. And they were all hot, gorgeous women. No fatties, no sagging breasts or flat asses and all had amazing fellatio skills. Some even enjoyed fingering my tight, powerful alpha ass.

At clubs now I stand in different positions. When I put my left let forward at least 10 women immediately drop to their knees, begin salivating, and beg for me to release my now 15 inch penis for them to suck. When I put my right leg forward another 10 beg me to fuck them up the ass.  When I stand with my legs exactly two feet apart, displaying my dominate manliness, the rest of the women in the club line up to wait their turn for me to fuck them. And it is all because of game.

When I am standing in any public place, say at at subway station, and I position my right pinkie exactly three inches from the left thumb which needs to be exactly two feet above the crotch but not so close to my stomach that it anyway hints of betatude  a random woman will drop to the floor, spread her legs, and scream for me to fuck her right there and if I don’t she will hurl herself in front of the oncoming subway. Guaranteed.

Women love my alpha clothes, the my alpha cars, my alpha house, my alpha books, even my alpha cereal.  I walk, talk, and look like an alpha. When I shit my shit is true alpha shit, hard, manly, strong and gigantic. My toilet is always getting clogged, but hey, being an alpha means some hardships, right? And I am so alpha I don’t even have to wipe my ass afterwards, since all the women I just bedded who are lying around my house compete to wipe it for me. Of course the alpha females don’t want me to wipe my ass they, just just plead, “Please, we love the smell of your alpha shit, please, don’t wipe it off!” When I walk my alpha dog all the other beta dogs show their stomachs in submission. Even my dog has a two foot penis and his alpha doggy ball sack drags on the ground. Women can even smell my dominate, alpha scent  from around the world and the show up at my doorstep with wet panties ready to be “pumped and dumped” by my dominate, masculine self. If I have to turn them away
because they are not 10’s (which is rare) they are happy to have my alpha dog fuck them, just to have some association with me. I have many half human/half dog children because of this, but it is only good that my alpha genes be transmitted into more than one species (through my alpha dog at least), given my Darwinian outlook on life. The world needs my virility.

And it is all because I read about it somewhere in book. Yeah.

I am so Alpha that I will eventually take over a country, impose a dictatorship for 15 years, invade a few others, like Poland, France and Russia, and rule Europe.  In the end I will probably have to kill myself because everyone around me is so beta that they can’t keep up the conquests on my alpha terms. Even my alpha armies will fail me. They just needed to read about game and all that would have changed.

Yeah, it is great being an Alpha male.  I love being on top.

I once had a beta parakeet. Then I taught it to say “Shut up and take your clothes off, bitch.” Now it’s alpha.

Comment Winner Runner-up is Mr. Primitve who goes on to explain, I believe correctly, the virtues of Russian women and the differences between American and European women in general.

I’ve had direct experience with Russians female and male, both here and abroad, in bed and out of bed. It’s a big topic — look at all those fat Russian novels, then multiply that length to deal with American/Russian relationships. In general, the men are more macho. I didn’t find the degree of gangsta tough mentioned in the winning comment, but even intellectuals, artists, professors, and poets are more old-school macho than men here. It would be hypermacho, probably, in construction, business, backdoor politics. I imagine it to be more like 1930s to 1950s in the US, where you had to hold a drink and throw and take a punch to matter. Russian women, speaking to me and perhaps bullshitting me, said the Russian men are more direct, more passionate and more upfront about what they want. To my face, they said they liked American men better, who were less vain, less brutal — we generally don’t beat our women folk — and more in control. We’re also supposed to have bigger dicks, but that’s another species of Russian hustler bullshit, I suspect.
Russian women?  Killer pussy. Well known fact. They’ll work you with their ultra feminine wiles. Oddly like Vivian Leigh in Gone With the Wind. Moody. Sexual. Pouty. Girly. Brooding. Poetic. Dramatic. They really know how to fuck — no puritanical frigidity, no hang ups, no chilliness. They oddly lack finesse, though — not that I’ve scored enough of that killer pussy to say definitively, but they tend to be really enthusiastic and kind of clumsily so. You can get hurt if you’re not careful.  That said, there’s great tenderness, too. Poetry, maybe. But they’re rough — not like Western European girls — the Russians always have this combination of crudeness and refinement.
Also, if you don’t find your inner iron, if you don’t bring a strong backbone and a willingess to stand your ground, throw shit around and meet operatic drama with even greater blasts, you’ll be eaten alive. You’ll still be eaten alive anyway, but you’ll get a little more respect from her. It took me a long time to realize this; you really have to be a fucking asshole sometimes, or they’ll make you a tiny little smudge on the floor.
One of my acquaintances tried to threaten suicide when his Russian doll was about to leave. She though he was just stupid and weak when told me about it.
It’s like living in a Dostoyevsky novel. I always thought old Fyodr was a little operatic in his scenes, but it’s just sober realism — the outburts, the soulful declarations, the wild passions. All before breakfast.
And they’re shrewd, both males and females,  to echo the excellent points about intellegence brought to bear on survival. They’re hustlers, both sexes. They have to be; they live in much tougher society, and unless they’re oligarchs, have a greater degree of daily struggle that most people can imagine. We live in Fat City; most middle class or even blue collar people here don’t have to live on their wits. So, yeah, streetwise. (I notice that blacks and Russians have an affinity for each other that seems deep and sincere and not just digging each other’s exoticism). I’ve seen some russo-yank marriages work well.  Alot of the time they don’t, but its more about expectations and culture that ripoffs — at least, now, in my experience. I’ve heard of others disentegrate because the woman used the guy. Some others are directed clearly by women past their prime — but still, very beautiful — settling down for a guy several years older.  They seem happy — don’t discount the pleasures of
security and domesticity on the one side or the pleasures of nailing some 35 year old when you’re 60. Puts the roses back in those flabby old cheeks.
And he’s lucky. Because he won’t have to look at her ass gradually balloon in a pair of sweatpants or hear her thudding round the kitchen in flips. Ever.
Anyway, these are large generalizations. But I’ve never regretted a moment spent with a Russian girl, even when she drove me closer to insanity than I’d care to admit. I bear my scars with pride.

For me, the main difference between European women, east and west and their American sisters is … fuck, where to begin? but it’s primarily about the demonization of pleasure here. I spent a lot of time in a lot of cafes and bars (and not enough in bed) arguing the opposite point of view, that America isn’t just a Puritanical Anglo-Saxon ice palace with a pervy underside. But, the longer I’m around and the more I travel and the more I fuck, I have to say: they’re right. American women (sorry, again, I know there are a lot of my fellow countrywomen who can prove me wrong, and bless you every one) BUT a lot of them don’t take pleasure in eating, in reading, in listening to good music and when it comes to fucking and their bodies, they’re corkscrew twisted. It’s all homework and duties and tasks and goals. They feel strange about their cunts, the shape of their ass, the smell of their armpits, how they sweat, the flatness or lack thereof of their bellies. (for contrast, one French guy
I know makes sure his girlfriend doesn’t take a shower for a day or two before they get it on — do you say eww to that or hmm? try it sometime, but only with someone you really like)
For me the main problem is, the Americans want to lay some pop-psychological wrapping paper on the encounter, or worse, they want to unburden their complexes on you when another woman from another country is content to smoke or to eat a strawberry or to, I dunno, admire the angle of sunlight coming across the bed. And these Americans generally do this in a voice that’s hopelessly nasal and flat, like that archetypal  screechy schoolmarm Hillary Clinton yakking away about fuckall. (I’ll take a heavy, husky EE accent any day of the week, no matter how thick). I don’t exempt myself as an American man from this fucked up relationship with pleasure, either.  But classically, Latin cultures looked to regulate pleasure, not to ban it, not to exorcise it and not to worship it, either. And while it’s a practice more aimed at that realized, it seems like a better way to try to live than either excess or denial or, more usually, some stupid binging because you’re keeping all that under a lid.
Russians, however, are as fucked up as we are in relationship to pleasure; they just approach it from the opposite extreme a lot of the time. So, there’s a nice intersection between our two delapidating superpowers.

Homework, duties, tasks and goals. That is the typical American woman’s soul, condensed.

Honorable mentions are awarded to the following commenters.

I always ask about politics because a liberal man is no man at all. If he’s a greenie that’s even worse! If he’s pretending to be a liberal/feminist because he thinks that is what I want to hear that is the worst crime of all! Omega central!

I would…I would…sigh, I can’t lie. I would stare at them from a safe distance while holding my beer high and tight to my body. If I caught any of them looking in my general direction I would quickly stare at the ceiling or my feet (positioned together, stiffly). Later that night I would go to sleep with my socks on, then after getting over the initial self-conscious self-loathing, I would take one of the socks off and…

The attention you receive from this blog has turned you into a pompous bore.

The daily dose of  “How can I be an even bigger jackass” is a game for a teenage boy living in a dorm.

Perpetual adolesence is all you’ve got going.

You’re not an alpha.  You are a complete loser.  This blog is the daily proof of that.

The most drop-dead, stunningly gorgeous man I’ve ever seen in my life was from the Ukraine. 6’4, broad shouldered with the sort of strong body you never see on American men. American men of that phenotype are chubby from spending their adolescence in front of TVs and video games with chips and beer or over-muscled from the gym. This man looked as though he’d spent his years from 5 to 20 working with his body. Not metrosexual thin, or redneck fat, but a strong man who filled his clothes and even though he was a professional looked as though he could carry a woman from a burning building.

His face? Imagine Michelangelo’s David with wavy black hair and bright blue eyes. I fully expected him to be a vain narcissist but his manner, allowing for the Eastern European chill, was normal, friendly and even a bit boyish. But for all that he was still subduedly masculine. Married, of course, so I saved my full-body swoon until he was out of sight. But if I had to choose Brad Pitt, Olivier Martinez, or this anonymous Ukranian I’d send the other two back to the movies. So yes, Eastern Europeans are drop dead sexy, largely because their culture hasn’t abandoned traditional sex roles.

And hey, if you all want Russian, Asian, Latin American women more power to you. Their cultures respect femininity in ways that ours simply does not. I only need one man, and I must confess that I wish the East European gender gap was the other way around.

Roissy, most of your posts are dead-on, but every now and then, you’re letting some lingering beta show. Most notably: politics and my least-favorite entry, the DIY haircut. The only other person I know who bitched about why she’s not voting so much was a Wiccan chick using Facebook, of all things, to get her point across. And cutting your own hair and complaining about salon prices? This reminds me of a cheapskate 19-year old living on an allowance in college.

    Otherwise, carry on, carry on.

Hey, that sounds a lot like me. Of course, after 20 and escaping the home town I’ve done a lot of TV, video games, chips and beer and now I have stretch marks where my muscles used to be… but since you said 5 to 20, I fit the picture.

The landing strip is a very slight improvement over the hideous pedophilic Bald Eagle, but is far from ideal. Some reasonable edge trimming is okay, indeed wearing a bathing suit makes it unavoidable, so long as the basic upside-down triangluar shape is maintained.

Good observations #20, except for this one. In a Host-Guest relationship, the host opens doors for the guest. In fact, having the door held open for you is beta, as the senior man lets the junior walk through first.

obama vs bush, here is my analysis of the pics you linked, keeping in mind that the media is biased for obama and will likely choose photos for dissemination that make bush seem more beta than he really is.

#1 — beta: bush. the lean-in is classic beta, but again the cameraman may have tried to catch bush at a moment when he was off-kilter.

#2 — beta: obama. alphas open doors for betas. think men holding doors open for women. in the old days, before chivalry became the mark of the suckup beta male, holding doors open for women was considered a magnanimous act by an alpha male.

#3 — beta: neither. this photo looks neutral to me.

#4 — beta: bush. but not because of their respective strides. bush has poorer posture than obama in this pic.

#5 — beta: bush, with a caveat. alphas put their hands on the shoulders of betas, but this kind of gesture can go back and forth. like i said, because of systemic media bias in favor of obama, the photographer may have decided to scuttle any pics showing bush with his hand on obama’s shoulder.

@ 28 – Not only do you have to factor the media bias, but the fact that this clown is purposely only posting pictures that agree with his point of view.

    How about this?

Steadfast commitment to stated goals in the face of whiney opposition: Alpha.

Changing your position every time the polls change because your father left you and you seek approval in others: Beta.

Also @ 20, 28,29: keep in mind that isolated pictures can easily be taken out of context: this clip has much more footage of the two of them together, first the meeting, then the walk to the oval office:

In context, much more neutral to me. 20 is just isolating certain shots to make Bush look more beta.

However, totally disagree about opening the door by Bush. TOTALLY ALPHA AND DOMINANT. Western etiquette says the host should show the guest around, and be slightly deferential, but the little acts of hospitality remind the guest who’s house it is. With the media treating Barack like he’s already President and Barack acting the same way, it would be totally beta for Bush to let Barack touch the door first and open it, like it’s already Barack’s house and he’s just letting Bush stay there until he’s ready to move in. Bush touching and opening the door first to let Barack in reinforces that it’s not Barack’s house yet, that Bush is still the host and barack is still a guest. For Obama to show up for the first time and begin opening and closing doors himself already would actually be more beta for Bush.

Lords, royalties, and Highness, tends to have people open doors for them.

Read Democracy in America by Tocqueville to understand the American mind and why what works for European Royalty would NOT work for American politicians. American politicians have to do a balancing act between being inspiring yet populist and down to earth at the same time. In old European royalty, no one of importance would touch the door, a lackey would do it. In America, having some lackey whose job it is just to open doors would come across obnoxious and ostentatious. Bush and Obama were walking together alone, so it was going to have to be either Bush or Obama touching the door and opening it first. For reasons I pointed out above, it was better for Bush that HE be seen opening the door and letting his “guest” in to reinforce that it was still his house. Besides, if he let Obama open it, all the libs who suffer from Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS)would either spin it to say “Look how alpha Obama is, he’s just opening doors in the White House like he already lives there” or they’d say “What a racist Bush is, he expects Obama to open the door for him like a servant because he’s black. You can’t reason with a lib suffering from BDS when talking Bush, any more than you can stop them from fantasizing about blowing Obama.

I love these people who say “If I met President Bush, I wouldn’t even fuckin salute! I’d spit on his shoes and blah, blah, blah…” You have NO IDEA what it’s like to actually meet a president. My cousin actually ran into Bill Clinton in some mall in DC in the late 90s. My cousin hated Clinton, but as he watched the guy walk through the department store with his entire entourage, he said he was completely dumbstruck, standing there like a smiling idiot. He even waved. Of course, after he told this story, he said he’d never let that happen again. We laughed and laughed at that one. If it happened again, he’d probably have the same reaction again. The overwhelming power of the President’s Alphaness is just too much for most men ( and ALL women) to experience without having a reaction.

Neither Bush nor Obama are particularly Alpha, in the non-Pickup sense, because neither has a big patronage network of lots of other men dependent.

Bill Walsh had one, so did Sherman, Grant, and Lincoln. Obama has Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. Bush has Cheney and “doing heck of a job Brownie.”

Neither are Alpha. Other men don’t own their careers to the advice and patronage of Bush or Obama. Nothing like say, Lincoln who went out of his way to sponsor up and coming guys into higher positions because that was how you build male power structures.

Bush is the product of Rove like Obama is the product of Axelrod. And both are “shallow” in the power and patronage they exercise. Neither like say, the famous Mark Hanna who ran McKinley and who is Rove’s big hero.

Considering how rabid liberals were against Bush, are you SERIOUSLY going to criticize being a hater? Libs have zero credibility in this department.

Anyway, a man being another man’s groupie is worse than a man hating on another man, unless he gets shrill and whiny like a liberal (see Keith Olbermann).

I guess all those kings and rulers who always have people open doors for them are betas?

There is a difference. When a servant or an aide opens the door, he’s just performing a function assigned to him. Nothing more, nothing less. The king is not having a conversation with the doorman. He ignores him, like furniture.

But when two peers or near-equals walk together, the senior man, or the Alpha when rank is unclear, will always open the door for the junior or the beta.

Notice that they don’t want him to even ask for more German troops in the central front in the war on terror, Afghanistan, but they expect him to do a lot of stuff the Germans want. In fact, the Germans don’t mention ANYTHING they intend to do for Obama at their expense.

Now, does their behavior suggest they see Obama as an alpha or a beta male?

I would say they see him as a beta male, who has fooled a lot of omegas into thinking he is an alpha. And, a beta male who is easily manipulated.

hello, I can’t remember the title. I wish I could. The book was written up in a few publications when it came out. The book was about the autobiography of a blk man with a small one. I seriously doubt Bush has a Black Velvet painting of Elvis or anything else. His greatest political strength was “Stuff White People Like” and single women deriding him as a low-class cowboy, instead of the Blue Blood aristo he really is.

It was enough to get him elected twice.

The problem Obama has is the stylish, Shaman-like Aristo type, aka JFK returns, pisses off single and married men alike. As much as it impresses women and a few Yuppie beta men who are deeply feminized. The more he pushes how cool and hip he is, the more guys are going to hate him. See: Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, etc.

That’s the other side of Obama’s reliance on single women. Men are likely to develop a huge hatred for him if he’s not careful. Guys do not like being shown up.

Whiskey, that is exactly what GWB is. I think his pandering to the average or “preole” class(hs) is what got him classified as a low-class cowboy. Alternatively, maybe his daddy issues aren’t the only thing that bothers him, maybe GWB is bothered by all of the opportunities his blue blood aristo background afforded him. Have you seen the documentary Born Rich? Some of the old money wealthy titled kids seemed to feel guilty about their backgrounds.

And Roissy claims that female voters are irrational. If the populace focuses entirely on how cute, sexy, alpha etc. Obama is rather than his performance as chief executive we may as well crown him king and choose our president in a manner similar to the college of cardinals selecting a pope. With a constitutional king to fuss over, a charisma-free but competent president to actually govern the country.

JFC — the NY Bronx Ghetto is a place where most men act like hysterical, prideful women, see the fabulous T aka Ricky Raw’s post on the myth of the Ghetto Male.

While the Bronx Ghetto is a violent place, filled with hysterical shooting over status and constant, tribal competition, it is not filled with the world’s most dangerous men who are almost never from there.

Instead, the US Special Forces are drawn from the White South, Mountain West, and a few Hispanics (mostly from the Southwest). These are men often skilled as boys in hunting and tracking and staying outdoors. The toughest Ghetto Gangsta would fall apart in thirty minutes during BUDS training for the SEALS, or the stuff Force Recon Marines go through, or the stuff PJ Rescue guys endure. Among them 12 hours or more in very cold water. They lack the discipline and focus to be TRULY dangerous.

They can’t wait for days, urinating and defecating in place to take a shot to kill some Jihadi. Or engage in a desperate, awful firefight with control. Control and teamwork make dangerous men very deadly.

Chic — I’ve read accounts of what Bush Junior did in the aftermath of his father’s defeat by Clinton. By all accounts he did some serious political thinking and came up with the idea that Bush Sr’s obvious Patrician background was a net loss, because it turned off critical male voters and married women. Thus the performance of the backslapping, Clintonian-like Good Old Boy (Clinton is not a stupid Bubba either, it too is a performance).

Hope — What you don’t get is that much/most of male life is dominated by competition over women. Being a woman you could not of course understand that. Successful male leaders do not put on airs before the American public, nor do they pose and prance around in ways that earn them female adoration but engage male jealousy.

Guys like say, Clinton or GWB or Reagan took an aw-shucks approach and made themselves seem at least like mentors to men, which establishes a patronage idea rather than one designed to outline the Big Man’s success and other’s relative lack of it.

Much/most of male leadership is designed to either brutally intimidate: Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Ghengis Khan, Alexander, Atilla the Hun, Ayman Al Zawahari, Idi Amin, Charles Taylor, your average Gangsta, Al Capone, in particular Saddam, using horrible torture and murder doled out personally to make a point, or avoiding the conflict by making people dependent on the patron for advancing and in fact advancing the proteges: Bill Walsh, Napoleon, Ike, George C. Marshall, Churchill, De Gaulle, Lincoln, George Washington, and Andrew Jackson all come to mind for the latter model.

A guy like Clooney lost his core male fans by ending his affable, “I’m a guy to play Basketball with” pose and becoming the celebutard “hot guy” that generates envy.

Obama has to be one or the other and the “intimidation” model has usually failed: Nixon being the best example.

Put it this way. There was a reason Joseph Smith was killed. He was a threat.

Let me add, JFC, that you must know only a small subset of Black men. Miles Davis was prone to depressive moods, as was Duke Ellington.

Coltrane IIRC had a breakdown as did Marvin Gaye.

Black men don’t have some magic that makes them cocky and confident. They are as prone to the lack of it as any other.

whiskey, you really don’t get it. “No, we really are tough guys! Look at these anecdotes and statistics!” is the absolutely worst response to a race-baiter like JFC. He wasn’t even talking to you, but you’re instantly eager to jump in and qualify yourself (or your race) to him.

A better response would be something like “Sure, I wouldn’t rule Bronx. But why would I want to?” Anything to make it clear that you play the white people game and the ghetto black game because white people game rules the world and ghetto game is a dead end. “Yeah, you black people are big and scary and tuff. How’s that working for you?”

The worst development anti-racist liberals ever brought us is how the entire West suddenly decided to just let ghetto minority men derive their self-esteem out of their ability to soil their own nest.

I just have this to say before i leave this sorry arse white blog. I came here last week and you guys are just seriously pathetic.

    @91 Jaakeli,
To your routine of “white people rule the world, but…but…but…black people rule the ghetto…but…but…”.

Hahahaha. What a typical, weak arse nerdy whiteboy-bitch response. I tell you, if i get a penny whenever a weak white boy(or acting whiteboy) gives that reponse in defense of their emasculated hollow shell of a self, i will recoup my 401k losses. Very typical actually. It is the kind of lame, bitching-whiney replies that white boys trots out in high school, after having their head slapped around, whining “but…but…at least i am going to grow up to be a doctor or an astronaut, while you will be nothing but a crack peddler”. Really, just how truly fucking nerdy and weaky and neutered is that? And here you are, still using a variation of that pathetic highschool line, more or less:white rule this world and blacks rule the ghetto; all these years after high school? What a sorry sight. I guess you can take the boy out of high school, but you can take the weak-nerdy highschool bitch out of the boy.

Quite frankly, I am surprised you didnt throw in white IQ score into the argument mix too. I have come to expect such dickless, ball-less, pathetic, weak-bitch arse response when talking about the relative toughness of blacks versus whites. Fucking lame contact lenses wearing white nerds.

    @89, @90 Whiskey,

Seriously dude, special forces? SAS? GSG? GNG? spertnaz?
That is your response? You need to go that far and high to find a tough, non-homo repressed white boy to compare to the typical toughness of ghetto black kid? Jesus H fucking christ on a crutch.

You are all fucking pathetic. The whole sorry lot of your white arses. Go play with your repeated ad infinitum, ad nauseum argument of white IQ scores, and (2), Keep repeating to yourself as you fall asleep “but….but…but…at least I will grow up from high school to be a doctor or an astronaut and you will end up being a crack pusher”.(or, an emasculated adult variation of that high school line: how whites rule the world, and blacks only rule the ghetto line). Pathetic. Just neutered, balls-sliced-and-put-already-on-ice, dead parrot on arrival. And you fucking bitches think you know what alpha is?

Bunch of Fucking nerdy high school repressed homo white kids who cant grow a pair, despite being over 18.

I leave you with David Alexander to kick around(if he is actually black as he claims).

Married But Cool every president prior to Bush has had fewer people die from terrorism than Bush has. There isn’t much fair evidence that the terrorist threat was greater after 911. In the United States terrorist attacks have always been black swan events. I don’t lay 911 on Bush’s feet (though it’s even dumber to blame Clinton for it) but to give him credit for no other attacks strikes me as silly. The United States had systems in place that were adequate to prevent most terrorist attacks for years. Bush started a foolish war that had little to do with keeping America safe. This war has taken more American lives than terrorist attacks have. I would bet a huge some of money that under Obama there will be fewer terrorist related domestic deaths than under Bush. I would not bet this because I think Bush did a particularly bad job or because I think Obama will do a particularly good job but because I think it is a variable largely independent of executive power. And since Bush has under his belt the maximum number in history (probably largely through chance) any other president will probably have a lower number.

The Aztecs sacrificed lives to avoid the wrath of gods that weren’t there. Bush’s handling of the terrorist threat isn’t so different from that.

Bush’s problem was the fact that he was unable to win over the media and the opposition party.

He rubbed the media the wrong way from the beginning, and simply was unable to get anywhere with the Democrats, as hard as he tried to my chagrin.

Bush in my opinion made a couple of cataclysmic mistakes — which a Dem president would have probably done in his place as well:

    1) The Iraq War, which should never have been anything beyond a punitive expedition;

    2) insisted on not enforcing our immigration laws, to the point of being Mexico’s bitch (sucking up to V. Fox, not responding to cross-border military intrusions; and

    3) enabling the housing bubble.

    3) enabling the housing bubble.

You know it’s funny. I was planning on getting a fixed rate mortgage two years ago. It was a nice, safe mortgage with 20% down. I was at my bank and about to sign the papers.

Suddenly, there was an explosion behind me. Glass shattered as special forces crashed through the windows and secured the room. I see two secret service walk in through the main entrance, followed by the man himself… George W. Bush.

I went to stand up and shake his hand, thank him for keeping us safe. Before I could open my mouth, he bitch-slapped me across the face. He grabbed my loan application and ripped it up, tossing the pieces in my face. He pulled a piece of paper out of his jacket pocket and slammed it down on the bankers desk.

    “Sign.”

“Bu… but Mr. President… what is it?

“Option ARM baby. Nothing down. Down payments are for pussies.”

If it wasn’t for that bastard, I wouldn’t be underwater on my home right now.

PA, just a few thoughts. Bush’s blunder over the Iraq war is that he let Rumsfeld run the show. It was Rumsfeld’s domineering style and light-fast neauvou warfare theories, which were met with great skepticism by experienced generals, coupled with an ill planned occupation that created that quamire. I hope history reflects Rumsfeld’s very large part in that fiasco. Second, “cross-border military intrusions” from Mexico?! You’re joking right? Lastly, Bush did not enable the housing bubble which is a phenomenon born out of a monetary policy legacy, poor regulation, private sector greed, and ill conceived housing programs which were also legacy.

    1) I’m a libertarian. Not a liberal.
    2) Was the terrorist threat greater? It’s a problem of measuring it. I could say there were no domestic terrorist attacks (except for anthrax) and you could reply that Bush did his job. I could point out the Chechan and IRA attacks prior to 911 and you could wave your hands and talk about how they don’t concern us. But then by that token why should the Columbian, Israeli, or Indian attacks be included in the calculus? Am I to include terrorist style attacks in Iraq in quantifying the threat when that problem is a result of Bush’s actions?
    3) US media coverage of international terrorist attacks has definitely been higher but this does not mean that the threat is greater.

@ 104 PA – Actually, Bush did try to speak out against subprime mortgages and point out they would be trouble, but he was shouted down by the Dem Congress, who claimed that denying subprime mortgages would be racist and classist. And of course, when it all went south, the same Dems turned around and blamed Bush and the media jumped on that narrative and sold Bush as the scapegoat as well. Even SNL had to admit Bush wasn’t responsible and parodied the Dems in a skit for encouraging subprime loans over BUsh’s protests then turning around and blaming him for it:

But I think the fact that Bush managed to get the blame for even the housing crisis, even as an enabler, is more proof to your other claim about Bush being unable to win over the media.

110 Ricky: yeah, the whole thing was a mess. Over at 2Blowhards, Friedrich (I think) posted a graphic that showed how the housing bubble likely prevented a mild recession in 2001 but also caused a much bigger one that we’re starting to see now.

Someone suggested that Bush could have brought the lax lending practices to an end immediately following his re-election, but as you say, it would have been a real battle with the Democrats.

DF: there were several incidents over the past year or two when armed and uniformed Mexican soldiers were documented to have crossed the US border, and at least in once instance, firing on US Border Patrol agents (no one was hurt). “Washington Times” carried the stories.

Some have tried to explain it away as Mexican drug gangs dressed in military fatigues, but as far as I followed the stories, the most recent one, the one that involved attempted deadly force against US personnel, was very likely a real military operation.

Regardless, in the international world of who’s-Alpha / who’s-Beta, appearanced are everything, and this violation of our sovereignty should have been punished severly. It wasn’t. Yet again, Bush was was bitch-slapped by our southern neighbor.

That’s the interesting part about this situation. Before, subprime mortgages were derided as being racist because non-Asian minorities were generally steered towards them, and supposedly even in cases were they were able to qualify for prime mortgages, but all of a sudden, subprime became the tool for black and Hispanic families to become “white” and own real estate. Of course, this is all in light of viewing low home ownership by blacks and Hispanics as a problem that needs be solved.

BTW, the sketch was very funny. 🙂

btw, i don’t let dems off the hook either. carter started the community reinvestment act. greenspan really started pushing ARM’s during clinton’s tenure. dems wanted to get loans for poor people who otherwise could never have been eligible, esp. but not limited to minorities. republicans thought this would be good for big business. nobody gave a crap about the middle class.

    The Iraq War, which should never have been anything beyond a punitive expedition;

As in a couple of F-16s dropping bombs à la the Clinton raids or what we did to Serbia for Bosnia and Kosovo, or are you referring to a full invasion with the removal of the Baathist regime, but with none of the attempt of nation-building. The first is just pointless and impotent, and the second would have left us at the risk of a frigging Islamist regime taking over. Either we go in there and occupy the country the right way, or we don’t bother going in at all. I’d apply the same rules for invading Iran as well, as the last thing we want is a half-assed approach that revives Persian nationalism, and rallies the people around the Mullahs.

bush is too stupid to have realized latinos and blacks were still not going to vote for him anyway

One could argue that it’s the theory that housing supports and education turned the poor whites of the 1930s and 1940s into the middle class whites of the 1950s and 1960s. Thus, the extension of this theory implies that Latinos and some blacks (particularly immigrants), could turn into good little middle class voters who will reward the Republican Party.

the elite latinos and blacks will always prefer the dems for their greater support for entitlements and welfare schemes

Nobody has ever provided me a good solid reason for why I should vote Republican. Why should the average high prole or middle class black person vote Republican?

nobody gave a crap about the middle class.

In a way, as member of the high prole community, there were gains and losses. The housing bubble inflated the value of my old home in a black neighbourhood to the point that we were able to buy a home in a white area at the end of the peak. The downside is that my parents are saddled with an overvalued home with a high mortgage in a good school district that they have no children to send to, and sending my nephew to said school isn’t an option.

PA @111, I read about the incident and to be perfectly frank I don’t know how 4 Mexican soldiers pose a credible threat to the security of the US. They held a US border patrol agent at gunpoint but did not kill anyone. I’m not trying to be flippant here but this incident was blown out of proportion because of the much needed attention our borders have been receiving of late. It strikes me as paranoid to think that 4 poorly armed Mexicans can be considered so dangerous. As a matter of principle, the Mexican soldiers that crossed our borders illegally should be punished as criminals but this does not need to be handled at the level of the president. Mexico is not an enemy of the US. This is why you have diplomats working behind the scenes. Not all diplomatic incidents require the president’s intervention.

This alpha/beta discussion is now officially ridiculous. Its my experience that the guys that spew the biggest macho bullshit are the ones that piss their pants when real shit goes down. In fact this isn’t about alpha or beta. Fact is displays of paranoia are not masculine, period.

    — Bush did so many things to pander to blacks

What’s noteworthy is that the pre-9/11 Bush was a very different guy.

I recall how he was the first president since forever who refused to meet with the NAACP and instead favored a collaboration with many black churches with regards to looking out for black group interests. That’s where the now-derogatory phrase “faith-based” comes from.

    — I don’t know how 4 Mexican soldiers pose a credible threat to the security of the US.

I don’t know. They may have had an aircraft carrier in one of the Jeeps.

The point is that military cross-border incursions are traditionally treated as provocations, and a lack of response is seen as a sign of weakness, thus an invitation to more serious misbehavior.

Or, to put it plainly: is it becoming of an American president to suffer insults from a pissant little country?

    — As in a couple of F-16s … or are you referring to a full invasion with the removal of the Baathist regime

I don’t know what the appropriate course of action should have been. But clearly it’s not what we have today in Iraq.

I want to try to re-educate whiskey, because he writes a lot and often has *great* points but it’s all so easily lost when he instantly forgets his own insights as someone provokes him to defend his racial pride. I’ll restate it clearer, since he’s undoubtedly still reading:

He’s written 200 posts about this: take the shaming of low-class behaviour out, let being the toughest guy on the block be the easy way to gain respect and watch as a culture quickly collapses as men race to out-thug each other. We do the shaming for the majority, but thanks to liberalism we’ve given special exception to certain minorities, and not surprisingly all those minorities are now hopelessly screwed up. (The world watches American blacks shoot each other as a form of entertainment. I want to meet the black person who’s honestly proud about that.)

Great point, but not if you don’t stick to your vision. You can be a conservative guy and believe that a culture that values achievement is better than a culture that values toughness posturing *or* you can go all insecure when someone suggests that white people are less gangsta or whatever and show everyone that you don’t really believe what you claim to believe.

We do the shaming for the majority

In other words, white people shame other white people. The question is do other black people shame other black people. Judging by the last post at Stuff Educated Black People Like, the black middle class may have some contempt towards its underclass, but one could argue that they’re slowly beginning to write off their poorer counterparts as hopeless. IIRC, one of the arguments made in proposing why blacks had lower crime rates in the ancient days of yore is supposedly due to stronger shaming by the general population. To a certain extent, I suspect it’s why crime rates were and are generally still low in my parents native Haiti. Even my grandmother noted in the old days, murders were rare, and that the few murderers were viewed as better than the thieves who lost the trust of the community.

The comment about your kids being losers – is David Alexander your real name?

It’s not my real name, and real full name is the bizzare composition of a Russian first name, Hebrew middle name, and French last name. Teachers and professors have spent years botching up my name, and are generally surprised when they see a black kid admit to having the name. David Alexander is just an alias that I came up with for use if I ever decided to change my name to something that was bland, white sounding, and easily pronounceable in English or French.

As for the kids being losers bit, as much as I love my niece and nephews, judging by their academic performances, what ever little high IQ existed in my family was washed away in these kids, and unless I somehow luck out, I suspect my kids may suffer that same fate.

Thus the performance of the backslapping, Clintonian-like Good Old Boy (Clinton is not a stupid Bubba either, it too is a performance)
I was a bit of a baby when Clinton was in power but I can’t recall him playing the bubba role in the same way that Bush has. Let’s be honest, from what we know of Clinton’s childhood, it was pretty much trailer park/projects lite. He and his brother have different fathers. Clinton’s alcoholic farther died in a few inches(?) of rain water after being ejected from his car. His step farther beat his mother, and I think Clinton once mentioned stepping up to his step father to protect his mother. There was even drug addiction in the family. If I’m not mistaken, Clinton’s younger brother had a powder coke addiction.
I respect Clinton for stepping up to the plate and working hard. Most people blk, wht, his or azn etc… don’t overcome those types those types of odds. IQ isn’t everything.

I am truly sick of the Bush bashing. His legacy for me, as prior military, is that we have not been attacked at home since 2001. How soon we forget. Leave the man alone, and let history judge him

How many did we have before 2001. Of course I am excluding Mcveigh(tp) and other domestic terrorists from the total number.
Gunner comment #97- I was sort of attempting to explain what you said to animus last week.

    1. Peter saidI can’t speak for them, but while I may be over 40 in terms of years, my waist is well under 40 in terms of inches. 35, to be specific

Don’t make my natural fur pelt damp&moist with your talk of a 35inch waist

    Anyone here watches Nightline?

There was a woman featured who is fighting to hold on to her home. She has 18% interest on her mortgage yes 18%. That’s like bad credit card rate interest.

I have a little idea to help some people pay their mortgage. Rooms for rent.

And I just told you you were mature for your age!

Seriously, as porn and sexual freedom make people’s threshold for erotic charges higher porn will simply get sicker and sicker to meet it. For a woman willing to have sex on camera the actual mechanics of it used to be fairly straightforward. Now you have people doing 5ways, dp etc. in mainstream porn. The women must have to be as psychologically and physically detached from their vaginas, anuses, and mouths as a paraplegic is to his legs. When sexbots displace them from porn, these poor psychos will be more fucked than they ever were. Even by Jack Napier.

Freak show comment number 114. I think you are making this to much of a dems vs repub issue. The financial sector and/or corporations plays a huge role in what happens in this country. Both parties have to pay the piper when they are elected. You don’t think politicians are given those big contributions just because. I read about the changes in bankruptcy law & credit card companies having more leeway with fees etc.. happened under Bush. The credit card industry was one of Bush’s largest campaign contributors. In fact, the article mentioned that the change in Bankruptcy laws (?) and credit card fees was the first piece of legislation that Bush pushed.

T said 100% agree with this. Bush did so many things to pander to blacks and Hispanics and other demographics that were not going to vote for him in a million years. All he did was alienate a lot of his base
T, a large number of those blks who are “afraid of gays” voted for Bush. At least if you believe those exit polls, the reason Bush won Ohio in the second election was because he was able to sway many blk voters.

BTW, Clinton’s brother worked as a lobbyist a few years ago. Lobbyist have too much influence on our congresspeople rep or dem.

You won’t. Even those who behave like thugs are embarrassed to know it’s being shown on TV to the rest of world. Stanley Couch, a blk republican, has a big problem with the way lower class thug behavior is marked to the rest of the world as entertainment. He calls it a chance for the middle class to take an “inner city safari”.

Or, to put it plainly: is it becoming of an American president to suffer insults from a pissant little country?
I hadn’t even heard of this. I bet most other people haven’t either. Let’s put it another way. Is it a sign of weakness to overreact to every single little provocation? We don’t react to Hugo Chavez calling Bush the devil at the UN and with good reason
Seeking Alpha it was major news when Chavez insulted Bush at the UN. He even made a show of it by saying he smelled sulfer and brushing off his body. He also went to Harlem in bit into Bush again. Al Sharpton 😯 & Charles Rangel both came Bush’s defence.

Nah, they didn’t grow up in the fractured amorphous world we have today.

Chatting about what makes an alpha is a conversation that boys have…not MEN

Whereas some buttoned-down number cruncher who spends his free time gaming and watching DVDs yet who never stops to reflect upon his life is a shining example of manhood. Riiiiiiiiiiight…
