Ugly People Made Me An Atheist

October 30, 2009 by CH

Sometimes, dark ominous thoughts intrude, and a feeling of utter hopelessness overwhelms me. I wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, fearing that god may exist, and that I will be punished in eternal hellfire for my many, many, MANY years of sinning.

And then I see people like these…

ugh1

ugh2

ugh3

ugh4

…and a wave of relief sweeps over me as I happily reaffirm that god does not exist, and I am free to go on sinning without worry.

Made in his image, indeed. I wonder if game would help these guys?

(Hat tip: el chief, for pointers to the omegas among us.)

not sure what Roissy’s message is. Is he annoyed that ugly people can find joy and happiness, in contra to Roissy’s script for them?

It would be sad to look really, really ugly… but. What if God makes some people ugly on the outside so they have to learn to develop their inside more? People who have to struggle in life for being ugly develop other talents to charm others – look at Disraeli and Queen Victoria. In religions that believe in reincarnation and/or karma, people have to “pay back” for past misdeeds. So according to that an ugly person probably used their beauty for bad in another life… and teased the less beautiful. Its more complex than that of course (duality is an artificial construct for the limited embodied human mind – no bad without good, no ugly without beauty), but… Oh wait is this post a joke? Oops loll . So meannnn mr. Roissy!

[editor: why would god require extra effort on the part of some people and not others? seems a bit… capricious… don’t you think?]

@editor To us it may seem that way, because we can’t comprehemd the entire narrative of a life and the personal development of someone in totality. There are other ways people have to develop themselves, its not just beauty. Some people are naturally smart, others have to work hard to learn. Can’t really quantify effort made… If u get it easy in one area, likely u have it hatd in another. More money more problems happens in other parts of life too not just money… @pupu lsb thinks that’s a good point. Beautiful people are used to getting instant respect, ugly people are used to having to earn that respect. @firepower lolllll

gig´s iron law relating beauty and religion

1 – whenever Christians and Non-Christians live side by side, the Christian populatio will be significantly more beautiful than the Non-Christians

2 – WHenever Catholics and Non-Catholics live side by side, the same effect applies in favor of Catholics, though it is moderated by the lower ugliness of CHristians

3 – Reincarnation is a belief of ugly peoples

    1) I wish really ugly people wouldn’t reproduce; but that 2) society otherwise be reasonably kind to them.

In part along the lines that kicking mangy dogs is not likely to lead the kicker to be kinder to either good dogs or good people.

Of course the leadership in our society generally takes the views of 2) and my second paragraph to extremes and ends up both encouraging and often subsidizing the ugly to reproduce – which is dysfunctional and decadent.

Hmm. Not sure about any of this. Serious physical ugliness seems to be the result of a) biological conditions – illness; genetic damage; or extreme hardship; or b) social conditions that may in some cases cause the illness, genetic damage or hardship. There’s also the opposite problem of affluence and the weight gain that occurs in societies in which food is plentiful.

The men in the first two photos (esp. the first photo) look as if they might have been born of alcoholic mothers: their faces show signs of fetal alcohol syndrome. The woman in the first photo is very plain but she has good teeth, a nice smile and a clear complexion, so does not count as truly ugly. The woman in the second photo is overweight, badly dressed, and in need of a more flattering hairstyle – i.e. her worst problems are self-inflicted, poor thing. The aboriginal people – well, as a group they looked better – lean and fit – before they began to mingle with whites. At least these look cheerful and friendly. And the baby in the last photo is a cute child who has been terribly overfed by its parents.

So Roissy, there’s a certain amount of human sin that goes into making people ugly. Not invariably – but in the worst cases it’s often Sin that’s responsible. Not always or usually the sins of the ugly ones themselves.

Still, I sort of agree with you. Don’t know why God adds to our burdens so much – it’s hard enough to live in this world.

I’m an atheist myself, but even I think that “the problem of evil” type arguments are silly.

Yes, I could say “ooh god doesn’t exist because of mongoloids, AIDS, and suffering” but all that rules out is the christian view of god. “God” could be a sick fuck or simply everything we perceive as bad has no actual “evil” intention. Humans aren’t exactly highly advanced when we compare ourselves to some hypothetical thing that created the universe.

You’re just taking the piss of course. Yeah, I get it. You need to look at ugly people to feel good about the way you look and also to assuage any fears about all the moral conventions you shit on.

“The dancer slows her frantic pace
    In pain and desperation,
Her aching limbs and downcast face
    Aglow with perspiration

Stiff as wire, her lungs on fire,
    With just the briefest pause
    The flooding through her memory,
    The echoes of old applause.

    She limps across the floor
    And closes her bedroom door…

The writer stares with glassy eyes
    Defies the empty page
His beard is white, his face is lined
And streaked with tears of rage.

Thirty years ago, how the words would flow
    With passion and precision,
But now his mind is dark and dulled
    By sickness and indecision

And he stares out the kitchen door
Where the sun will rise no more…

Some are born to move the world
    To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about
The things we’d like to be
Sadder still to watch it die
Than never to have known it
For you, the blind who once could see
    The bell tolls for thee
    The bell tolls for thee…” – N.P.

    Agreed.
God gave us free will. Some people choose a life of avarice or other acts that make them and their genepool ugly and useless. Others have gone down a path that tear down their societies, giving truly evil people power, whether it’s the union thug who does everything he can to turn GM into a laughing stock so he can sit on his fat ass all day or the pseudo-alpha who takes advantage of the slutscape of urban environments thereby creating the end of his own civilization.

alias clio trying to find the sunshine:
Hmm. Not sure about any of this. Serious physical ugliness seems to be the result of a) biological conditions – illness; genetic damage; or extreme hardship; or b) social conditions that may in some cases cause the illness, genetic damage or hardship. There’s also the opposite problem of affluence and the weight gain that occurs in societies in which food is plentiful.

fat certainly uglifies. but most bone-deep ugliness is fused at the moment of conception.

The woman in the first photo is very plain but she has good teeth, a nice smile and a clear complexion, so does not count as truly ugly.

surely you josh. the woman in the first pic is a grotesquerie. she’s not plain, she’s repulsively ugly. squashed noggin, malformed raccoon eyes, aggressive proboscis, pencil thin lips, joker grin, rippling mandible muscles.
or, in the parlance of the day, she’s a 1.

Yeah so sad ugly people can replicate. If they didn’t we wouldn’t have anything to judge what good looking is though? Or would standards drastically increase and little flaws like red hear would be considered ugly? That would be a day when Lindsey Lohan is considered ugly because she isn’t brunet like Monica Belluci. I would love to live in that kind of world where standards are so high due to elimination of the weak and pathetic.

Who believes in god anyways? People who refuse to abolish their childhood ignorance and people who hate logic/science/common sense? Religion is beta…

The guy in #1 looks deformed, but the girl is okay-looking– I mean, hardly going to win a beauty contest, but a 4 or a 5, not a 1. You can’t even tell if the guy in #2 has attractive features because they’re so drowned in fat.* The girl in #2 would be kind of pretty, actually, if she was younger and thinner. And the baby in #4 is just ridiculously overfed.

*Contrary to Roissy’s thoughts, I personally think a woman can carry a few extra pounds much easier than a man can– it’ll come off as ‘curvy’ on a woman on levels where a man would be ‘fat pig.’ Conversely, men age better.

FP: I believe he meant Harlequin Ichthyosis.

The picture of a perfect God who loves without subjecting you to hardship and pain is utterly ridiculous.

And how can you respect or love a God who demands nothing from you, who never tests your loyalty?

You have to earn that love. After all, He is the alpha.

And our reaction to people and the kindness we show them is just one way in which we are always tested. You do what you can to stop what is wrong and to stop it decisively, which can and should involve harshness should starting with a gentle approach doesn’t work. You also do what you can to ease the suffering of those who suffer, they are echoes of the Christ figure, they test the rest of us and believing in God means their suffering will be forgotten and as nothing when in paradise.

In essence, those who suffer innocently get the automatic heaven pass.

If it’s merely a matter of facial deformity, I can sort of agree with this. But if we’re speaking of really bad skin and bad teeth – broken and dirty – then it’s harder for me to do so. I hate to admit it, but this is one of the parts of “Christian charity” I really have to struggle with. Really ugly people, especially if they’re dirty and smelly, upset the pagan side of my nature and make it depressed. For that matter, anything really ugly, including buildings, streets, and landscapes, tends to have that effect on it. Deformed people merely make me feel “sympathetic”, as one poster above puts it.

this is why sex exists. to mix up the genetic material for the next generation, keeping us one step ahead of the microbes and capturing the best mutations for the betterment of the species. and there’s a natural bell curve associated with this mixing, so 2 or 3 STD above the mean are your stunning beauties, whereas 2 or 3 std devs below produce the horror shows above. i know i’ve been skeptical in the past about universal standards of arttractiveness, but these and the wal-mart links remind me of the old joke that beauty is skin deep but ugly goes clear to the bone. yeesh. happy halloween, everyone.

that said, i think there’s no need for gratuitous cruelty to ugly or obese people. unattractiveness doesn’t imply low intrinsic worth, even if social preferences associate them. mating and social value are separable.

to roissy and the various religiously oriented posters: If there is a God, does He care about our suffering? If He is omnipotent, why does He allow it? Frankly, there are a lot worse fates out there than being unattractive. I’d save my theological agonizing for harder cases like the death of an innocent child or something like that.

    Why, might one ask?

Because, barring a sophomoric exhuberance in one’s early youth or the cynicism of old age, atheism generally accompanies men with little or no experience with emotional highs and lows, thus in the fullness of human experiences.

Also, one way to define a nerd is as someone who impressively processes limited data. Thus, a nerd will understand the material reality in the most spectacular fashion, but have no capacity for understanding the transcendent reality that exists parallel to the physical one.

@doug- yeah, but now the weak don’t die off or reproduce less, they’re supported by government programs derived from the Christian charity that is one of the foundations of Western civilization. For good and ill, I guess – good from the point of view of the milk of human kindness, bad for the gene pool.

Not only that, but Western societies have below replacement fertility rates, and the “best and brightest” (quotes intended both ironically and non-ironically) choose not to reproduce within these societies, leading to an “Idiocracy” effect. Those Wal-Mart pix? *that’s* who will inherit the earth, or at least this country.

@bhetti – lol, but I didn’t say I was a follower or even a fan – just making a joke. Although you have to wonder, given the caliber and some of the statements of politicians these days.

there’s the classic Simpsons episode in which Kang and Kodos, the evil slavering aliens, impersonate Bob Dole and Bill Clinton on Halloween/election eve ’96 to take over the world.

Didn’t “The Exorcist” take place in Washington DC?

Sheesh, maybe my joke was simply behind the actual times. Maybe Cthulu’s already in charge and cable news has been a huge conspiracy to keep this fact from the masses. Would explain a lot.

Clearly, you must do all that you can to combat it personally. Perhaps by producing offspring? Lots of them?

But who could I find to volunteer to aid the aging but vigorous and in shape me in that endeavor? Young and nubile and brainy, beautiful and eager? With a seriously good girl background but a seriously horny and eager appetite, struggling with chastity, tempestuously passionate and obsessive when in love? Who? Me demanding much?

Someone who has a seriously committed view about pair bonding and stable marriage, including for the children, but also the belief that women can and should support themselves, at levels commensurate with their gifts though effort, though putting family first. And the view that women capable of supporting themselves should not expect or want alimony under any label if a marriage does, despite great efforts, fall apart. Someone who wants a man to lead her, but only if that man feels her and knows her and wants best things for her.

Have any volunteers meeting such super difficult criteria in mind?

    Abortion rights

parents worried about you having kids before marriage
kids acting like little brats towards their dads in all movies
people saying things like kids are so expensive
you have to be “ready” financially to have kids

@clio – ah, but there’s a kind of beauty in old age, if not attractiveness per se, as Rembreandt and others have shown.

Why do you view your distaste for ugliness as pagan? what’s specifically polythiestic about it? Or is it just an aesthetic association with the values of pre-Chrstian antiquity? I’d just call it an aesthetic preference, an example of the generic attraction all people have with beauty (however defined) and a corresponding revulsion from ugliness.

I couldn’t help but note that you did not comment on Tupac’s awesome road-to-Damascus expression of faith above. Modesty, no doubt. And this after he changed his avatar to reflect the muse of drama, to complement that of history.

I know that kind of thing annoys a lot of commenters, but I take the view that genuine human kindness and affection are sufficiently rare that they should always be encouraged – and when their green shoots appear in a forum as cynical and rough as this can be, well, it’s a thing to behold. Alas, Tupac’s volcanic e-love is apparently destined to remain forever unrequited. The Muse of History is blind indeed in this instance.

Tupac seems to use clio as the template for the female ideal and enjoys her mind and persona, with no real intent of having her as his (otherwise he’d Game her, which he clearly knows how to do and well). His little comments at her are the his version of getting her to ‘lighten up’ and teasing her for her inability to do so. It’s also a convenient comedic tool to illustrate the plight of a beta, which he is always acutely conscious of, despite his acquiring Game.

And I can be corrected if I’ve misunderstood.

If so, yeah, i know your Internet love is tongue in cheek, but also is an expression of something real. as i think you just noted. clio’s persona/type is that which, in days gone by, easily inspired devotion from a certain kind of man. which is why the whole e-drama has been such fun to watch.

clio never showed tupac any e-affection in return, even in similar humorous form – only bafflement and occasional anger. really, is it too much to ask to play along and show a little e-ankle in response to such devoted e-courtship? 🙂

Here’s the thing about Tupac’s semi tongue in cheek pedestalling of aliasclio.

I doubt if he ever really wanted the real clio. I also think the real alias clio felt that, perhaps subconsiously, perhaps consciously.

Instead Tupac wanted an ideal that he could interact with, but that in the public space of this forum he partly constructed as well. An ideal based on real things that are true of aliasclio, but ignoring anything not with his program.

As Bhetti said, an ideal, that he could tease and interact with.

I have to say that I agree with Maurice. In actual fact, aliasclio wasn’t very gracious or creative or fun in interacting with Tupac. She wasn’t very self assured. Instead she felt a bit alarmed, and threatened, and in reality wasn’t that perceptive about him.

This will likely win me no points with Tupac, but I think it’s pretty accurate.

However, this is not to say that Tupac’s initial perceptions about what is attractive about aliasclio were wrong. I don’t think they were.

For me, the absolute worst thing to observe is not the ugly people, but the retarded people. And not the “so retarded as to be happy in their little world” people like the Downs people. I mean those with borderline sub-clinical levels of retardation where they still possess enough self-awareness to KNOW that they are fucked up and to KNOW how others perceive them, yet are powerless to alter their behavior. They are not the happy drooling idiots. I can see in their faces the sadness of too much self-awareness.

I always have to look away in anguish.

Probably because they remind me of me in my own way.

Unlike Tupac, my interest in Clio is not one based on traditional chivalry. Rather, my desire is to provide Miss Clio with the purest, most intense forms of erotic and sexual pleasures she ever has or ever will experience. And I would provide this service for her for a single night, without any demands made on her time or emotions beyond. Despite her calm, cool nature, I am sure Miss Clio, like most women, has her secret sexual desires lurking deep within her. If true, one of those is eroticism for the sake of eroticism. But she is quite modest and a challenge, and a worthy one at that, hence the continued persistence of my efforts. I dare say most women have the capacity to enjoy nothing but pure sexual pleasure for a short period of time, even one night, given the right circumstances. I think this is one aspect of the female sex that Roissy has so skillfully written about here. Most women like to be nothing but completely naughty every now and then. It only takes the right type of man to tap into that. She would feel terribly guilty the next day, but it would be a pleasurable sort of guilt.

Blushing is the least of the effects I would have on Miss Clio if we ever had the pleasure of mutually exploring the finer, erotic things in life.

This doesn’t argue against the survivalist theory, but is in fact supported by most Neo-Darwinian speculations. This race, in this form, is obsolete. It can’t carry the possibilities of the future(s) for too long.
Few individuals can tolerate the mental void of Nihilistic Chaos which surrounds him. Always there is some little quirk or some little error which causes him some misery, pain or destruction. Without the need to change diapers, most mothers would strangle their infants.
It always appears that this little something or that could have been avoided and, if we didn’t wish to hide from the inherent ugliness of the human condition, we could have side-stepped this misery.
But, remember, those who do not readily, eagerly and graciously accept this world of conventional in-voluntarism will be labeled misfits and psychopaths. As such, be prepared — for enemies are needed to blame for every “bad ending.”
Look at the dinosaur — they might have blamed the automobile. And if you look at things perversely enough, the death of the automobile [Peak Oil?] might create a species more horrifying than the dinosaur.

Even with horror and death aside, few can tolerate complete success. It leads to boredom and to the final realization that we are all food within the belly of a giant monster whose final goals we only have a glimmer of — and the glimmer we see is not comforting.” — C.S.H.

I knew there was a reason why I only go to walmart at 3am to buy tampons because every other store is closed. That’s motivation to make sure I have properly prepared myself for the monthly ladybusiness while shopping at places that are not walmart. Regardless, that is a mission that I must complete myself: asking any guy to go out and buy something from an aisle with all the choices that are invariably present is basically asking them to bring home the wrong one and writing it down doesn’t help because they’re not going to bring in the paper you’ve written what you want them to get inside the store – if it makes it to the car in the first place.

    What’s good, peeps?

    Interesting discussion.

As one who was born with the Morning Star on the Eastern horizon as I emerged from my mother’s womb, and have always been regarded as rather good looking, I too have thought about this question that Roissy raises. Of course, being a Believer, I take a differing tack on the matter than the R, and see it along the lines that other folks, such as Pupu, do. I am content with the idea that I do not know all things, but God does, and has His reasons for doing, and/or allowing, what He does.

And I’ll take it a step further: ugly or misshapen people in a way, serve as a mirror to us, reflecting who we are in the inside. In fact I was just listening to an excellent interview on the local NPR affiliate here in Philly, about a guy who was busted for white collar crime and was remanded to a prison that doubled as a Leper’s Colony down in Louisana. He wrote a book about it, which I may pickup, since I just happen to be stumbling accross the discussion now.

Anyway, the author makes the point, that very often, the “beautiful people” can be and often are just as ugly in terms of actions and temperment, as those with congenital ugliness-much moreso I would say, because at least the physically ugly cannot help their condition; those who are “beautiful” often abuse their gifts because they can. We all know full well that good looking people can and do get away with all kinds of stuff, BECAUSE they’re good looking. And as for the notion of ugly people commiting more suicides?-really? OK, so how does one account for the many suicides in the Hollywood/Glamour world? As we all know, and this is especially true for Women, physical beauty is fleeting, and lots of formerly hot Women fall HARD upon finding this out the hard way.

To bring it back full circle to Game, this is why I am such a strong advocate for Inner Game, which is about developing one’s character, having and showing grace to those less fortunate than us. Some of the most ungrateful, haughty, and downright meanest people I’ve ever come accross in this world haven’t been those who resemble the people above in the pics-theyve been the people who look a lot closer to those in the Glitterati.

I believe God made Ugly People to teach the rest of us powerful lessons about the Human Condition-and not necessarily those that we may think.

    I’m just sayin’.

On another note I had a dream last night and I’m sure it was because of this thread. I dreamt I was pregnant and while having an ultra-sound they discovered there were 14 babies! The pictures of the babies were like actual photographs – some of the babies were beautiful and looked like Angelina’s baby, Shiloh, and some looked like the guy in the top picture. Good news part of the story was I didn’t care what they looked like I just was worried about having to stay off my feet for nine months. Too funny. Roissy you even effect my sleep. 😉

Ugly people are the killers of God…or at least the Santa Claus idea that most believers seem to favor as God. If you need God to be Santa Claus in order to believe in it, then you’re made of fail to start with.

When I see an ugly person, I don’t pity them or feel particularly repulsed because I understand that I am just as mortal as they are. If anything, I marvel at their survival, and hope that I am not so weak that becoming ugly (as we all do eventually) won’t kill me.

…and if it does, that it will kill me quietly.

Being reincarnated to suffer for misdeeds in past life is quite a silly notion. Criminals are punished in order to make them understand that the anti-social or criminal act they committed was wrong. In order to learn the lesson, they must remember the act they committed. Since reincarnation, by definition, involves mind-wiping before each birth, the “guilty” has no memory of their previous misdeed. Punishing people for acts they have no memory of makes no sense at all.

Also, what kind of acts are we considering criminal? Rape? Murder? Theft? For an act to be considered criminal, it must involve an aggressive act against an innocent party. What criminal act committed in the past would qualify a person to be required to be ugly in the next life? Religion seems obsessed with punishing people for possessing certain character traits, not for the commission of actual harm against other individuals. This alone is grounds for rejection of religion (and is why I rejected it while in college).

Sin lies in the commission of intentional harm to others. All other sin is invented nonsense.

    One man’s theology is another man’s belly-laugh.

Trust me on this. I’m as comfortable with my libertarian worldview as any Christian or Muslim is with their religion.

The question about suicide is irrelevant, only an extreme at one end of a scale. A better question would be, What contribution is made to humanity by “ugly” vs. “beautiful” people? Which group scores higher on the misery index, thus (probably) spreading misery as they go along? Which group is happier and values the propagation of happiness?

Too bad you can’t fit the whole population into both groups.

I find beautiful people often have only too little to contribute to their communities aside from aesthetic pride, which they guard and maintain jealously. If that is what you value over the greater range of humanness there is no shortage of utopias for you. Enjoy.

    Mr. Roissy,

If ugliness disproves God, then beauty proves Him, and we’re back to square one. Do you have any evidence (as opposed to just the hope) that there’s no God? And, more importantly, do you know the correct criteria for judging the evidence for and against God? For if you apply the wrong criteria to judging the evidence, you’ll draw the wrong conclusion, and given what’s at stake, you’d better be damned sure your conclusion is correct.

Regarding your post “Visualizing Omega:” God or no God, insulting people over weaknesses they can do nothing about is evil and contemptible. You need to stop behaving like a degenerate and start behaving like a civilized person.

Please understand that Roissy deliberately makes provocative posts and tends to write tongue-in-cheek. This is his style of writing, and he incidentally stimulates much thought and good debates.

So if you’re going to come here — a place with a bunch of horny betas and fiery, half-brained feminists — to argue about God you’re in the wrong place. That’s like going to a strip club and arguing the merits of the work of St. Augustine.

    Gentlemen,

I neglected to mention one rather important point: If Christianity is true, then forgiveness of your sins is available through faith in Jesus Christ. That’s why it really is Good News, rather than another bleeping set of rules ya gotta follow.

    Conservative [Rooster],

When people speak of important things, even crudely and briefly, even in a place like this, they reveal that man has intuition of what matters most. Unless he’s flat-out lying in this post, Roissy shows an intuition, however limited, of truths about God and judgment for sin. And even if he’s lying, others have this intuition stimulated by his words. I’m not looking for a philosophical discussion; I seek to arouse intuitions and provoke thinking about ultimate truth. It doesn’t matter much what people post here; what really matters is what they’ll think on their own.

    @ Maurice:
Milton and Lewis are primary allegorical interpreters of Christian theology. If you’d like to go to the source, Jesus declines Satan’s offer of all the Earth’s kingdoms, rather than disputing Satan’s capacity to make the offer. He also refers to Satan as the ruler of this world, IIRC. An angel sent to Daniel is unable to deliver a message for 40 days while locked in combat with the prince of persia.

Arguing that the existence of evil falsifies Christianity just demonstrates ignorance of the Christian canon. The eradication of evil would falsify Christianity. And HBD is now accumulating evidence that evil is ingrained in human nature, whereas major atheist schools have posited man’s melioribility.

    Alan,

Please forgive me. I insufflated large amounts of cocaine for 4 consecutive days, so I am not quite sure yet if I have fully recovered my critical thinking skills. I will heed FeministX’s advice to lay off the powder, however. I have some productive things to do — like finding real-life feminists to fuck up the ass.

That’s Conservative COCK, not Rooster. You seem to show queasiness over human sexuality.

What Roissy is indirectly talking about is the way society imposes judgment over natural drives. He’s indirectly referring to society’s needless guilt-tripping and moral puritanism in the face of blatant contradictions and hypocrisies.

Please understand that the audience Roissy directs his writing to, for the most part, consists of sexually-starved beta males.

What solutions do you have for these sexually-starved beta males? What can Christ do to satiate their irrepressible drives? Do you believe game and religious observance are incompatible?

    Sincerely,

Hmmm…does Roissy preside over Black Mass? Some of this stuff sounds awfully familiar…

    From Wikipedia…
The Nine Satanic Statements outline what “Satan” represents in the Church of Satan.

Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence.

Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams.

Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit.

Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates.

Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek.

Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires.

Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his “divine spiritual and intellectual development”, has become the most vicious animal of all.

Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification.

Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years.

Ugly people do not shock as much when you deal with them on a daily basis or when you humanize them. Social failure has sometimes propelled many to heights, how many socially popular good-looking jocks/cheerleaders do you know that are bagging groceries or manning walmart shelves? However it is also more likely that ugly people are bitter and beneath a surface of extreme sweetness are harboring generalized malice.

That said, I would rather deal with ugly people through email or blogs, that way I can access their intelligence and observations. The beauty of the modern wired world is you can have your cake and eat it too!

The reason we’re overanalyzing is because you keep asking questions. Roissy’s post contains three Biblical allusions. His logic requires an omnimax god which isn’t Biblical. Hence the non-sequitur.
