It’s been quipped that liberals love humanity but hate humans, while conservatives love humans but hate humanity. I find there to be a lot of truth to this statement. Now, an illuminating quote from a story about Algore’s alleged sexual assault on a masseuse adds credence to the quip’s accuracy:

Funny. At least we know 21st century feminism bows to the altar of gaiaism in the pantheon of liberal virtues. The feminists have been taking body blows lately. First, the tsunami of science discredits just about everything they believe in. Second, you’ve got mischievous boys like myself happily shitting in their faces. And now even their natural leftie allies are sacrificing them to the demands of their substitute mother earth religion.
Normally, I tend to disbelieve any sex accusation against a famous alpha male by some two-bit happy ending pseudohooker on the take, but with the Gores’ marriage ending so unceremoniously recently, the accusation becomes more believable. Which, in closing, brings me to another maxim.
Maxim #211: A good working assumption is that any married alpha male with options in the sexual market, no matter how religious or declarative of his love for his wife he is, is fucking a mistress.

I think a fair proportion don’t have a regular mistress due to some sort of moral quagmire (or other reasons like not wanting a complicated life, more commitments or others), but will have flings or ONS. No idea what the percentage breakdown would look like though.

I’ve never understood the point of the powerful man having a mistress. Fucking around with as many new, hot women as you can find — that makes sense for people who want sexual adventure and variety. But the newness of sex ends after, what, six sessions? Ten? And then a second relationship is just that, a second relationship. It doesn’t seem (to me) to give you anything you don’t get from the first relationship. (Hell, it probably doesn’t give you those benefits to as great a degree because few truly quality women will be the second woman for any length of time — so the sex becomes boring and the conversations/interaction isn’t as good as it is with your wife/acknowledged girlfriend. If the mistress is better at the relationship stuff than the wife/acknowledged girlfriend, then you must immediately make an official breakup and upgrade to the mistress.)
But the limited upside — sexual variety for a couple weeks, followed by another relationship — comes with huge downside risks. It could crush your wife/acknowledged girlfriend (which does matter to you if you care about her). It will crush your kids (if you have any) and make them hate you pretty much forever. And even if you don’t give a damn about how it affects the feelings of anyone else on earth, it threatens the state of your finances, as well as your reputation.
Even if you run in circles that don’t care about the morals, losing half your crap to a woman makes you look stupid. (Indeed, getting caught cheating will wreck your Wall Street career if you’re anything less than a superstar for just that reason. The folks above you could care less about the morals, but they think you must be a moron if you haven’t somehow hedged your risks and protected your assets. They cut you off on grounds that someone who can’t protect his own money from a woman certainly cannot be entrusted with the far more important task of protecting executive money for competent opponents.)
Of course, seducing every hot woman you can and getting in some true sexual variety also carries risks. You might be able to hedge the risk of it getting back to your wife by making your ID unclear, but you always have the risks of VD, which also gets it back to your wife. But at least there is a real upside to fucking everything, a kind of variety that doesn’t and by definition cannot come from the relationship you are risking by your actions. Thus, I can construct in my mind a hypothetical man who could sensibly do a ton of one night stands — he’s just someone who values sexual variety more than he fears the risks. But I can’t dream up an imaginary man who could rationally have a mistress. Can anyone here explain the affair in a way that makes it pass the cost/benefit analysis?

Also the risk of getting caught is pretty low. Most times people are caught because someone snoops through emails or texts, just delete them. There are a lot more uncaught cases then caught cases. Also all these cases like Al Gore and Tiger Woodz, they’re caught because they are freakin famous. When you have the world and paparazzi looking at you it gets a lot harder to cover up these affairs.
I myself don’t cheat. But I’m typing this because you for some reason can’t understand why people cheat. It makes perfect sense to: a guy or gal is not fulfilled in one or more areas of their lives (does not have to be sexually only) or maybe just want attention or ego stroke or any number of things. They still value the first relationship, they really do, that’s why they don’t break up with them to go after the second woman/man, people are greedy they want their cake and eat it too, they want their spouse/gf/bf but they also want something else. Probably not, but I’ve had two long term relationships ongoing at once and although a pain in the ass sometimes, it was generally a very pleasant experience as long as you cover your tracks well and the women know their place and you have hand over both of them. All are big ifs.
Its like having two wives, essentially. If both are hot and sex you well, the mistress provides a nice break to sex with the wife and you like being with both of them. However, I ended it with the mistress for precisely the reasons you describe.
Hookers are best for cheating on a wife because they are paid professionals and try not to get their emotions involved and you don’t need to worry about one flaking on you and calling your wife on Sunday night while after drinking. They have some nice brothels here in Germany, where I live.
I think legal polygamy for men, would resolve this dilemma, but only if divorce laws were skewed to favor men. A good novel on why this situation can be attractive for a man is in a famous novel called “A Letter to a Young Wife from an Old Mistress” that has the mistress discussing the dynamics of why the youing wife’s husband man would go to the msitress and not stay home. Its a book every woman who is married and wants to keep her man happy should read.

I never asked either if they had mates; it was never an issue. But the Korean definitely had a multiplicity of men. None of them were Korean, because when I asked what the difference was, she told me point blank: she hadn’t been with a Korean since her first BF. And he most recent BF was a foreigner, too. Oddly, her tenure with said gentleman was during the same period she’d occasionally been with me.
So this is no surprise, really.
And on the coldness of the Japanese – even the first time we were together, she was almost brutally matter-of-fact. I have to disagree with the maxim for all the reasons you guys have posted above. I don’t think CR fully appreciates how limited a married man’s options can be. If he’s truly an alpha in life, than he probably either owns his own business or is a working professional (lawyer, doctor, engineer) who devotes long hours to work. And even if there’s someone in the workplace who he’d like to nail, she has to be available and forward enough to allow him to make a move without fear of reprisal. I think a lot of times there are women in the workplace who would like to fuck the alpha, and he would like to nail them, but neither party ever feels secure enough to put themselves out there. The woman doesn’t want to lose her job or put herself out around the office/workplace as the type of woman who would sleep with a married man. The alpha doesn’t want a rejected advance to lead to his wife finding out, a sexual harassment suit or basis for termination, devaluing of his reputation at the office/workplace. So while in many cases many viable options exist, it goes no further than sexual tension.
I don’t agree that a guy will only cheat with someone at his wife’s level or higher. I think there is a rough threshold, but this moves up and down depending on the woman’s availability and likelihood of remaining quiet.
And if he’s a married alpha, he is probably married to a quality woman and probably has kids. Putting aside all the emotional reasons a man wouldn’t want to lose his family, this family takes up all the time that he doesn’t otherwise spend at work. While there’s always time to give inappropriate looks or comments to other hotties while the wife and kids aren’t looking, I have yet to come up with a viable plan to move that from a quick inappropriate exchange to an offer to screw, and if accepted, a venue and time to actually bang the chick. There just isn’t the time. If an affair is going to happen, it is going to happen with a woman that the married man has regular access to.
And that leaves really work, church, wife’s friends, or trying for random one night stands on those few free nights when the family is out of town. And I would guess that it is from these population of women that most married men cheat.
Obviously men do cheat, but I agree with Scoop, I can’t see a way to do it that makes the benefits outweigh the risks. Most that do it are probably reckless and don’t even think it through. Those that do succeed in having a relationship with a mistress probably only do so as a result of a very fortunate set of circumstances, as Polymath mentions.

@Polymath makes a good point about the 10 rating being subjective. I just saw “She’s Out of My League” for the first time and I thought the woman was a solid 7 (way on the short and thin side). The protagonist was a solid 5 but she was not really out of his league from my subjective standpoint.
A financially stable 8 can get 9s and 10s without problem. A financially stable 7, which plenty of men are, can get solid 9s all the time…minus the fools who got married and have to pay child support or alimony (an automatic 9 Repellant).

Generally agree about married men options — even if you’d be OK with an affair there is a huge risk just getting there, unless you already have a lot of experience with them. I am sure that a player like C/R would have no difficulty even with the handicap of wearing a ring, but it’s a different game than the usual pickups, where the worst that ineptness gets you is being blown off. You somehow have to be expert from the start, which is why it is so much easier for men pre-selected by high status.

Mere infidelity not coupled with dissertion had not previously generally brought that.

The above discussion on Thailand could have been written 15 years ago or 7 years ago for all mention is made of the huge efforts made in the past 5 years to stop actual slavery. The big danger here is that Americans can be blackmailed (and are being blackmailed) by criminals who know about this. One has to wonder if the incarceration of 15 men is worth what George W Bush took away from us that not even the Romans did not dare to take away = the right not to be owned by the nation you were born in.

The point was made above that Thais who are violently forced into a life of prostitution should not be patronized, if there is any idea in a man’s mind that she does not want to be doing that or if she is underage. A counterpoint – not incongruent with the first – was made that many, if not most Thai bar girls, have free will and that includes the majority who are over the Thai age of consent, which has to be respected within that country or else we are getting into an entirely different ball of wax (differing age of consent laws even in the USA).
I noted that all our favorite radical feminist organizations and anti-sex Christian organizations have offices in Thailand and are collecting big bucks in donations and US federal grants trying to stop sex slavery there.
With these “good” people battling the scourge, I don’t stay up at night worrying about Thai sex slavery.
I am more concerned about how the rhetoric about Thailand is being used by feminists and evangelicals to villify all western males and about the sexual distruction of my own country – how so many American women are rude and unable to become friends with men. Roissy just posted on another two cows who didn’t realize that the two men who were trying to meet them had just rejected them for being anti-social and anti-American.

you may indeed be addicted to 10s or you may just have high standards, who knows?
but addiction is really only a problem if you can’t afford the substance in question, or continued use causes you harm, as long as supply outstrips demand, it shouldn’t be a problem (and it looks like you are spoilt for choice, you lucky man, so why worry?)
I think what you probably need are time management skills rather than a 10 step recovery program, once you realise you can never go down from 10s this is an important step forward, you now need to work out how to pull a 10 in the least possible time so that you can get on with the rest of your life.
Unless of course you are under pressure both with regard to quantity and quality – does it have to be different 10s all the time, and how often, do you aim for 365 different 10s a year, maybe 366 in a leap year, or less than this?

Only Stalin and Mao could get a 10 per day. Bill Clinton probably got 1 per month and I might get 1 per three months when one accounts for the way 10s become 9s or 8s between meeting them and finally going to bed maybe 6 weeks later as an LTR develops…or the way someone suddenly becomes an 8 or 9 when she takes her clothes off. The push-up bra effect comes to mind.
Also, a 10 at 30 meters will often be a 9 at one meter when initial contact has been made. It is hard for a man to extract at that point and keep searching. Men are human and really are interested in what kind of personality a woman has.
A classic film to watch + novel to read about game addiction is “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” by Milan Kundera. Roissy has seen or read this because he just called one of his posts “The Unbearable Triteness of Hating”.
I’d put this in the top 5 novels about game along with Histoire d’O (all about the Chateau de Roissy) and Les Liaisons Dangereuse.
It is about a thirty-something Prague doctor in the 1960s who runs tight game and does well with women but keeps wanting someone new. One weekend he is at a spa in the countryside (think Karlovy Vary) when he sees a young woman and determines to game her/seduce her. He succeeds and then forgets about her as he does every woman.
Back in Prague he suddenly gets a knock on his door one night. It is the young woman. She says she quit her job and left her parents to live with him happily ever after forever.
He is naturally mortified. Plus, she is now no more than an 8 to him, etc. But he stays with her and dies happy after moving to the country where other women cannot distract him.
Right now, two women – who are now 8s like the woman in the book – are in love with me and expect to live happily ever after with me.
Just like in the book, they cramp my style mercilessly. It kills me to be with them when a 10 walks by and smiles. They give me pre-selection status with other women but that only serves to torture me.
But, as in the book, I love them. One of them I can see myself marrying – we’ve been together for 5 years…and one great thing about her is that she is willing to “believe” my stories about where I am at any given time and why my cell phone is off.
Women really do choose men in that some of the women a man games take him seriously and assume a permanent relationship and the man ends up going along almost helplessly whether he is alpha, beta or what-not.

I don’t think there were that many 10s in Stalin’s circle, maybe Martha Peshkova who married Beria’s son, I think all the beautiful Russian women had already been sent to the gulags.
I haven’t read or seen the Unbearable Lightness of Being, I will put it on my list of things to read/watch.
I think you’re probably right about the push-up bra factor, engineering can do great things these days, also the drop of 1 point at close quarters, not to mention the drop the first time you see them without makeup, but I think that these little disappointments might actually make your life easier, after all, your problem seems to be that you can’t help seeing 10s everywhere you go.
Maybe you should just call them “potential 10s, precise status to be ascertained by way of more detailed examination” or maybe “possible but unproven 10s”, this might make it easier to avoid being distracted, there must be a certain low level annoyance in constantly being distracted by 10s, a bit like the phone ringing constantly when one is trying to work, it is interesting that you use the word “torture” here.
Psychologically this may make it easier to game them too.
Your posts remind me of the story “The Girls in their Summer Dresses” by Irwin Shaw. We don’t often think of men who run after (and indeed get) high quality women as people to feel sorry for, but I can see how it might be a bit of a curse.
