I’d argue that quite a lot of these writers actually have out of control hamsters. Like the bitch wrote Eat Pray Love, or that retarded piece of crap, 50 Shades of Gray. No self-awareness there. At all. I’m sure there are some romance writers who understand real feminine desire, and some who may manipulate it just like you say, but quite a lot of that genre is pure, undiluted, female fantasy. Reality doesn’t enter into it at all. It’s all about catching the alpha male and then “civilizing” him with your love until he’s a perfect (beta, pussy, mangina, whatever) man. It’s all the stuff that actually turns us off in real life, but still reads well on the page.
The rare book that doesn’t follow that kind of patterns seems to do so by accident. I think the industry’s changing a bit in regards to that, but it’s still nothing but unrealistic fantasies that don’t necessarily align with reality.
(On another note, there is a place where you’re going to see characters acting out more feminine sexualities is in the m/m-homoerotica-for-straight-women genre. Which is quietly growing in popularity. What that says about modern society, I have no idea. Let me clarify for all 3 of you what women want.
Thwack, women want to be raped, and CH is right when he says that feminists are embarrassed to admit it. It’s also why they try to classify rape as a hate crime (against women), or a crime of power. I have to agree with CH that in such cases (for these particular females) these fantasies could be a secret wish. I don’t see why anyone would fantasize about something they didn’t wish would happen. No one fantasizes about something they don’t like, or don’t want to happen. Don’t assume that just because some things are illogical, bad, or dangerous the fantasizer isn’t really wishing it. Some people’s actions defy logic. If he is not a complete stranger and there is some attraction to him by the female, it makes sense that in these situations an orgasm might happen more often than the filthy stranger off the street filled with diseases and armed with a knife. Hence, I think we need a lot more research into this before we could say all women enjoy forced sex with stargazers and have orgasms no matter what the circumstances are, as that’s not the case. As of now, it clearly looks like it depends on the circumstances.

I read a couple of years ago an interview with rape victims. Some of the women (and not a small minority) said that even after they were raped they still had rape fantasies. They felt very embarrassed by the notion. Some felt they deserved it and that there was something wrong with them, because they fantasized about something so violent, not knowing that other women in similar situations did it too. Some of them even reported that they enjoyed acting out rape scenes with their BFs/husbands despite the nightmares they still had about their real rape incidents. Granted, we don’t know the circumstances under which they were raped, so we can’t be sure how violent these incidents were, and if they knew their assailants before. Nevertheless, this leads us to believe that rape fantasizes are indeed part of the female psyche.
Make what you want of it. But I think it’s telling. Women enjoy being dominated by strong masculine guys even after being victims of male sexual violence.
Also, I don’t think women should be embarrassed by the truth. This is part of the psychological and biological makeup, and there is nothing we can do to alter it, unless we masculinize ourselves. Subconsciously and primitively, this is how women judge the worthiness and masculinity of a man – if she can’t step all over him, if he can overcome her objections when he wants to, if he is stronger than her physically and mentally – this is what she is looking for. I don’t think you’re right at all. I didn’t read 50 shades or others of its genre, but I’m quite familiar with the story and I think that although the writing is crappy, the story and the idea are not. There is lots of awareness there, but it’s mostly on the subconscious level, intuitive, and primitive, which is what the female mind is, but we don’t like to admit it. It’s only man’s sexual desires that are thought of as primitive, not female. Well, they are both primitive when they are unhindered, and these writers hold nothing back, which is why I think they are very much in tune with feminine desires.

She is not really that skinny. She appears skinny because she is extremely tall. She’s more tall than skinny. Her neck is too long for my taste (giraffe like). But she has a very nice face for a woman in her early 50s. She probably had some work done, but still, it looks very natural on her.
Yeah, this Chris Christie business didn’t help her credibility. I was very surprised that she kept pushing him when we all knew he wasn’t much of a conservative. I thought she was just desperate because she wanted our side to win so badly. I hope she learned her lesson. Compromising doesn’t work. Better go with a staunch conservative and showcase our values, than put them on the auction block for everyone to buy and sell.

I too was looking a fighter so I can understand her preference for Christie based on that characteristic alone.
However, I preferred Rick Perry since he was both a fighter and a great conservative and federalist. Too bad about his operation – he was on pain killers during the primary debates. I really liked his CPAC speech too.
Christie is out of the running for 2013 but Perry is still a contender.
