On this pretty Easter Sunday, I would like to point out that the Marxist Communist Bolsheviks destroyed religion in the Soviet Union by abolishing and banning it.
Because the Soviet Union failed and exiled all the Bolsheviks after millions were murdered in the name of communism, the Bolsheviks could not do the same thing again in their new countries. And so they invented feminism, neoconservatism, and postmodernism and used them as battering rams against the souls of the churches and universities. This way, they could abolish religion while not only leaving the church and university buildings standing, but they could actually use the churches to abolish and destroy the Spirit of Christianity, and teach its very opposite from the pulpits like Driscoll at al.
Jesus predicted all of this, as such is the way of the world in Matthew 23, just before the Scribes and Pharisees made sure he would be crucified–imagine speaking the following words to your feminist minister and the fate you would suffer–then you would better understand the Spirit of Easter:

Slavery as we witnessed in the US and England is an anomaly. Most slavery throughout all world history had nothing to do with race. The Irish were British slaves since the first plantation era up until the Easter Rising. The Irish were about as white as you can get by skin color (insert sunburn jokes here).
The ultimate ingredient in the collapse of any civilization is a lack of accountability. I call it the “this is why we can’t have nice things” syndrome. If a group of people have an established agreement wherein each member accepts the risks voluntarily to cooperate for mutual benefit, the system may work as each person has an incentive not to mess up a good thing. It’s only when strangers foreign to the system who lack accountability (modern women, modern minorities in the US, etc.) begin to destroy the voluntary institutions that we experience the collapse.
These privileged groups, whom accountability has been removed from by their own request and accusations of its unfairness, have destroyed the traditionally cooperative and benign form of self-governance that the West produced, expanding it and ballooning it until it became the all-powerful welfare complex that it is today. Blacks had higher marriage and employment rates back when they lived by the “white man’s” rule back in the 50s and 60s before the affirmative action explosion. And then we stopped holding them accountable.

There has never at any time even under The Romans been Slavery in England or any English possession. The Irish have thus never been slaves either. Ireland was until 1922 part of The United Kingdom, (as its Northern Part still is). The Potato Famine was unfortunate but certainly not part of any deliberate plot to starve the Irish indeed considerable efforts were made to ameliorate its effects. You may also recall that it was the British who ended the Slave Trade and enforced that ban throughout the world and at their own expense. What The Karamzov Idea has written is frankly dishgraceful.
Perhaps Karamazov despite his name is of Irish descent. Whatever the rights and wrongs of slavery it is his (as I assume) own country that continued slavery until 1861.

Slavery was morally wrong, however abandoning it merely because it was unneeded at the time is not a particularly morally superior achievement, so your smugness is unnecessary.

You do know that the vast majority of white people never owned slaves? Most have emigrated to America since slavery ended and most of those who came before lived in the non-slave states. In the US, in the slave states, most slaves were held by plantations that had more than 20 slaves to work the fields. Most whites could not afford a slave, as they were also expensive. Saddest thing I ever witnessed was in my Music Appreciation in college (at a military service academy). It was a senior-year elective. Our teacher was trying to explain to the class how classical music was tied to the broader ideals of the Enlightenment. I was the only person in the class who knew what it was. She asked us what we’d learned about European history from this time period. You can guess the answers.
She spent the rest of the class deconstructing the liberal tropes that came spewing out of my classmates; “we enslaved Africa”, “we killed all the Native Americans on purpose”, “we raped the planet for resources”, “Muslims invented calculus, really”, “the founding fathers were a bunch of slave-owning rapists”. By the time she was done, everyone was stunned. One guy actually said that it was the first time he’d ever heard anything positive about his European (white) heritage.

Booo hooo hoo ladies. We’re bored too. You gained 15 to 40 pounds (even a woman who tries her best gains 10 or 15 pounds in the first 10 years of a marriage). We gained weight too; we don’t like that belly that we didn’t used to have either. Our society with its “no fault” divorce has failed to make people incentivized to stay married regardless for the good fo the children and the future.
