The Inner Workings Of The Cathedral

June 27, 2013 by CH

Ben Shapiro, neocon-ish man of the right who specializes in explaining and reframing the leftoids’ control of the propaganda arm of the Cathedral, (aka the virulently anti-white male Establishment), has a dozen or so videos of interviews with Hollywood leftists where they admit to a leftoid agenda. Example:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mUVp5qq3SU#t=20s

And this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5A8VHTyMzg#t=20s

Hollywood and the rest of the media industrial complex are staffed and run by leftoids. Its product is the result of what I would call an emergent conspiracy, or an informal conspiracy. It’s not a formal, deliberate conspiracy in the sense the word is typically used; there’s no secret council meeting of elders in an underground bunker plotting the best way to transmit their degenerate meme virus. Rather, something resembling a conspiracy develops from the collective actions of an industry in which nearly all of its members think alike, as a hivemind.

Now, as Shapiro has revealed, many of these Cathedral clerics are perfectly aware of what they’re doing. But they act individually instead of at the directive of a leftoid overseer. The problem is that they so vastly outnumber opposing viewpoints that the sum of their individual creative decisions are indistinguishable from a single conspiratorial directive. What few opposition members there are find it easier to go along to get along.

What’s the answer to this propaganda juggernaut serving as an agent of mind infection? Some suggest that wealthy anti-leftoids should start their own media conglomerates and go toe-to-toe with the reigning narrative. But as S. Sailer has noted, many would-be rightist benefactors are blowing their wads on college football programs. Sports are fine spectator fun, but they aren’t going to win the hearts and minds of white suburban women like Desperate Housewives does.

The right simply doesn’t have the taste, nor the skill set, for fighting a full-blown culture war like the left does. The right by and large avoids culture war conflicts, while the left relishes them.

But there’s another problem with the clarion call for anti-leftoids to recreate the media landscape in their image, and it goes much deeper than ill-chosen recipients of funds. The root of the problem lies in the differing psychologies of leftoids and non-leftoids.

According to the Five Factor Model of human personality, leftoids score higher in the trait “openness to experience.” The intensity of this trait expression is multiplied by the exaggerated leftoid sensitivity to the moral concepts of harm and fairness, as described by Jonathan Haidt in The Righteous Mind.

Someone who loves novelty and bleeds profusely from the heart will naturally gravitate to the creative fields, where he can get his ego boost feeling like he’s making the world a better place for defectives and whiny man-children.

If leftoids and anti-leftoids simply differ in fundamental biological ways, and occupational ratios reflect this difference, then there isn’t much that can be done to thwart the propaganda machine that rides the crest of civilizational decline. The only hope for anti-leftoids — and it’s a small hope — is to identify and cultivate those few like-minded individuals who peculiarly score high in openness to experience and also have a creative energy that propels them beyond the realm of rooting for the home team. In other words, those who wish to sabotage the Cathedral will need to find rightists who love to fight, fuck and flip the bird to the orthodoxy.

And yet, at a previous time the film industry was stocked by the like of John Ford, Howard Hawks, John Wayne and Steve McQueen. I don’t think it is just that leftoids are more creative.

It’s harder for non-leftoids to prove just how creative they are nowadays, seeing as how pretty much the entire MSM is a closed shop.

Notice how even the so-called opposition invariably bears the K stamp of approval.

Hollywood is very nespotistic that way. It extends to actors. They change their name to hide it, but most are related to someone big behind the scenes or a previous actor/actress.

Sorry, but they were artists who appealed mainly to the low-brow. The Right consistently fails to produce agit prop that appeals to the right hand side of the bell curve. I don’t say this as the enemy of the right but its friend.

Falling Down–vastly underrated movie, The Last American Virgin, Michael Collins, Wall Street, 8 Mile and The Untouchables are textbook cases of how it should be done. Even The Passion–I know you anti-religious will feel nauseous–gave us a “blood and guts” portrayal of Christianity instead of the typical “Colgate” Jesus favoured by trad conservatives. It was a film version in the style of Carravagio Say what you want about Mel Gibson but he got that one right. And it made money, despite all the efforts of the Cathedral to suppress it.

Any “art pushback” is going to have to start small, simply because the Cathedral will fight against it. But it has to be done, as these small endevours are the nursery from which big ones will emerge. Photoshop, digital SLR, and the internet rapidly decrease the cost of production and by-pass the “choke points ” of distribution. The real problem is publicity, i.e. getting the material noticed.

This, a thousand times this. The Right’s attempts at infiltrating the arts and entertainment culture wars have been abysmal, lacking subtlety and grace. Like it or not, we live in a celebrity culture. The Left understands this, which is why they continue to hold sway over the hearts and minds of the young and impressionable.

Conservatives really need to stop ignoring the entertainment industry. Life imitates art.

If this is an attempt at sarcasm then it’s pretty bad. If it is sarcasm then you are an idiot.

PC and the leftist vision is a pseudo religion, so the term Cathderal is particularly apt. Leftoids have no problem using the term Social Justice to mean robbing the middle class, or anti-discrimination to mean discriminating against whites. Hate to mean disagreement with them. Peace studies to justify the militancy of the left.

Why are righties so stupid? Why is the right so full of Aspergoids who can’t appreciate subtlety, irony and double meaning? Why are they such Pedants? What’s with all this bullshit about debating the term “cathedral”. The only people who could be confused by such terminology are those that shouldn’t be contributing to any serious discussion on ideas.

We debate the term cathedral because the anti-christian modernists don’t believe in anything at all. Other than their own careers. Real religion, especially christianity, has something called dogma, which can be refuted using reason. Modernism is the willful disorientation of the senses. They have no plan.

Nothing wrong with that every now and again, mind you. But I wouldn’t base my life on it.

this isn’t exactly along the lines you’re describing above but it’s always going to be harder to advocate for ‘leave me alone’ rather than ‘give me x’ in our system. lefties want stuff given to them. they want more rules. they want more government. and those things create (parasitic) jobs in washington and elsewhere. there’s no giant grant or contract for doing nothing and letting people live free, so there’s little interest in ever getting that done.

the debt and the anti-arithmetic left have pushed us past where we can recover, i don’t really want to spend decades trying to whittle it down to make the same system that caused it survive.

Killing “bad” white people for another white man…

In order for the movie to REALLY be “anti white” they would need Django to find a copy of the constitution and hunt down all the white men who signed it and shoot them.

WITHOUT, any prompting from a white man.

    > “Someone who loves novelty and bleeds profusely from the heart will naturally gravitate to the creative fields, where he can get his ego boost feeling like he’s making the world a better place for defectives and whiny man-children.”

Heartiste, this is so much horse-shit.

As recently as about 1960, ALL of the great actors were hardcore conservative republicans: John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, Ronald Reagan, Chuck Connors, Clint Eastwood – all of them.

And beyond actors and actresses – great artistic talents like Igor Stravinsky and Sergei Rachmaninoff and Martha Graham were ultra-conservative anti-Marxists.

But circa 1965, the Frankfurt School began purging these stars and replacing them with either overt Marxists of their own, or very malleable, easily-manipulable shkotzim fellow-travelers as front-men.

By the way, have you ever heard of “The Rural Purge”, which the Frankfurt School conducted circa 1970?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rural_purge

Highly popular shows like Green Acres, Gomer Pyle, The Beverly Hillbillies, Mayberry RFD, Hee Haw, and Lassie just vanished into thin air, and were replaced with pure, unadulterated Frankfurt School propaganda and disinformation like Maude, All in the Family, and The Jeffersons:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_Lear

    IT WAS ALL INTENTIONAL.

The Frankfurt School exercised its monopoly over the airwaves and simply wrote [or un-wrote] all traditional American influence right out of the culture.

And this idea that there isn’t any artistic talent out in flyover country is simply ludicrous.

James O’Meara argues the conservatives’ biggest mistake was losing the homos. Allegedly creative homos are naturally inclined to the right (I think he uses Hoover and Roehm as examples). In short, the Right has ceded cultural domination to the Left, by leaving it to be the only place publicly tolerating and indeed welcoming what the Right now perceives as “deviance.”

The film industry pumped out plenty of right-wing movies in the 1980s — Rambo, Terminator, Predator, Top Gun, you name it. All military men (or former ones), all grrr-let’s-eat-raw-meat-with-my-teeth type of Republican mythical heroes.

Since then … not so much. Maybe Black Hawk Down.

Anyways, as someone who’s worked in the film industry, let me tell ya somethin: It’s the newly international nature of the film industry that trumps all other concerns. Every studio is chasing foreign markets. In fact, that’s how tentpole movies get financed now — $200 million of foreign money gets loaned when, and only when, the name of a major movie star is attached to a script.

To pay back that loan, studios must make stories that 12-year-olds in China would enjoy. That’s not meant to be funny or exaggerated. Chinese teenagers are content with flimsy characters and empty spectacle. Now the modern summer movie is basically a mystery play, stripped of all human detail, to appeal to the massiest of masses.

But it ain’t the “Cathedral”, o Voltaire of the manosphere. It’s simple return on investment.

Now, television … that’s a different story. You may be closer to the mark there.

Again- Behaving as if left vs. right is a thing means you’re giving credibility to a non-existent conspiracy known as left vs. right. Let’s write truth. Here’s truth: A Starbucks Barista is not a robot. He has free will. Except — he will lose job security if he refuses to speak drink sizes as tall, grande, venti etc. Small, medium and large are fine words that I can use when ordering a drink at Starbucks, but the Barista has to speak the language to keep his job.

Are you really calling us leftians? The ‘Man of Steel’ told the General he’s from Kansas and that’s as ‘American’ as it gets.

A lot of people see through the fake jobs offered by certain large corporations that place intelligent people in cubicles in front of PCs. They have classes that teach them how to act at work. They learn to live within the limits of corporate culture.

Some of us in ‘Hollywood’ you call ‘leftians’ are just people that were inspired to test our limits in practicing talent and skill, working to master certain life elements so we could avoid the cubicle life and do stuff that often affects Billions of individuals around the globe.

Like in other types of work, there are scripts to follow. The difference is this: You complain about the existence of a script rather than doing as we did.

While we were starving, working our way ‘up’ into ‘Hollywood’ work and influence, you were enjoying your stable, secure job with perfect health benefits driving your fun automobile, paying your payments, your mortgage, going out to restaurants, buying clothes from a first-hand store. You enjoyed it. Now that you had your pleasure and you’re not happy, you call us names.

Look in the mirror at the person reared seeing movies. Every movie has credits at the end. Every name listed had a job. It’s all specific and you gotta be the best, but ‘Hollywood’ needs Nurses, Doctors, Carpenters, Attorneys, Buyers, accountants… Even your job is listed somewhere. You could be here. Instead, you’re doing your thing. Keep complaining. We love it. When you get a do-over, come work with us. We’re just folks that have dreams and obsession to reach em

This version makes more sense. Not everyone goes to Hollywood for fulfillment. Good for you. Not all of us are miserable or want to work or live in California. I think its all image and too little substance. I’d have to pay a million or more to avoid living in a cracker box or a 60s era ranch. Our beaches are nicer here too. I can’t buy any gun I want there either and you have evil divorce laws. You’d have to quadruple my salary to make me decide to live there. But you’ve reinforced my biases at least and for that I thank you.

If you’d read for comprehension, you’d see that I’m saying that in the last ten years, NONE of this back-and-forth on movie politics matters, at least in film, because they’re simply producing meaningless spectacle for a global audience. Nothing more.

Australian actors are hip, for example, because their accent is most palatable to Asian ears.

But go ahead and panic about Js and Ns and cherrypick one dumb Tarantino movie to moan about. I’ll stick with the bigger view.

“The film industry pumped out plenty of right-wing movies in the 1980s — Rambo, Terminator, Predator, Top Gun, you name it.”

What right-wing beliefs did these movies promote exactly? They were essentially action flicks. Just because they were somewhat manly and militaristic does not mean they promoted conservative beliefs.

Jason, what’s the over and under for China cutting out Hollywood for its own movie industry, same with Russia? After all, wouldn’t they want big budget movies playing in their country and pumping up their rulers than say, Hollywood? Isn’t WETA a gunslinger, work-for-hire outfit? Hollywood thinks there is a huge barrier to entry into their business and they have access to the global market, but that’s money that most foreign leaders would like at their home, not Malibu.

Hivemind is right. but I think the answer to the comments above that earlier generations of creatives were actually conservative is generational. Specifically, the Boomers took control of the culture in the mid-to-late 60s and have held it in an iron graps since then, enforcing the worldview of college students in 1968 onto the rest of the country. Feminism, anti-war (Vietnam), music (this is the generation that think classical music is the Beatles), etc. There is a pretty strong undecurrent of Boomer hate in the generations that came behine (Gen X, Y, millennials), who may come to dominate after the Boomers die off. These generations have their own charateristics caused by the environments they were fomed in. But the point is the “cathedral” has its origins in a specific time, class, educational prference and demographic- a fairly radical one by historical standards- and is now quite long in the tooth and overdue for a change.

The wheel typically turns from idealistic generations to more pragmatic ones. For those who are interested in this sort of generational sociology, the work of Neil Howe and William Strauss is worth knowing:

I don’t agree with this Heartiste. As noted, until recently Jewish-run Mogul Hollywood (Goldwyn, Mayer, Warner etc.) was ultra-conservative, Jimmy Cagney in Yankee Doodle Dandy, John Wayne, etc. And up through the 1970’s even TV was culturally conservative — otherwise liberal guys like Stephen J. Cannell had the Rockford Files poke fun at the liberal rich elite, hippies, Hollywood, etc. And of course literature, painting, and populist novels and short stories were conservative: from Jane Austen to Sherlock Holmes to Nero Wolfe and Dashiell Hammett (today hate hate hated by the Left for racism and sexism).

IMHO it is not the Frankfurt School but wealth, and a huge mass of elites and wanna-be elites, chasing too little social status and dominance. With churn and status-anxiety in a way that say, a Lord, Knight, Count, Earl, and Baron of 1190 did not have. It is great at the top but anyone can fall down to non-personhood. Example: Paula Deen. Hence huge leftist anxieties catering to women without a need for a husband’s natural hypergamy and associated Big State, anti-White beta male leftism.

What is needed is not culture but TECHNOLOGY. Which shapes culture. Newsweek is dying, the Boston Globe being put on the block for $110 million (the NYT bought it for 1.1 billion), etc. Time to disrupt Hollywood with alternative productions done fast, cheap, Roger Corwin style out of control, available on the web. For pay: Itunes, Youtube, Amazon, etc. The way newspaper serialization led to the development of populist novels (Dickens and Arthur Conan Doyle could get paid quickly). We also need to crush the ability of women to extract money from beta males while GBFM style Alpha fucks.

You describe the impetus, Frankfurt School describes the means. They have influence among exactly those whom you describe above or their mentors from back in the day. This was all orchestrated by the KGB and its predecessor organizations as well as the International Communist Movement since the 20s. The shift you describe coincides with their achieving critical mass in the opinions among these circles, which occurred about 1968-69. The KGB devoted 80% of their budget to cultural subversion and targeted Hollywood and other opinion making elements of society.

Soviet Russia, 1991. East Germany, 1989. Glorious Revolution of 1688. Many regimes fall astonishingly fast, when they run out of steam. Mubarak in 2011 comes to mind. American power rests on its military dominance of other nations that make its fiat currency worth something — and Obama is busy dismantling that. The Cathedral needs to pay its “managerial class” which is large, in money that actually buys stuff not wheelbarrow funny money.

I don’t think that will be a relevant question in the future; the US only ever differed from other countries because several international industries are headquartered here and the middle class fed from their teats, qualified by proximity alone — Hollywood, Silicon Valley, Wall Street, etc. They told us breakthroughs in communication technology would globalize wealth; they didn’t explain that it would globalize poverty as well. Of course there will be a transnational 1% with third world levels of inequality, so just like anywhere else, US will be a ghetto. Will we be able to devise a non-socialist (aka systematic and functioning) method of resolving this inevitable development? One or two of the neoreactionaries are actually addressing this, but Whiskey seems to understand all the monetary reasons why it probably ain’t gonna happen.

I think I need clarification on this. What body count? What gulags? Not being snide here; I really don’t understand any part of your comment. Are you saying that a police state will be necessary to maintain order as deterioration continues? That seems like just more motivation for free exit — not a reason to stay and “fight the bastards.” Open to clarification, though.

On my side, I’m referring to Moldbug / Nick Land’s observation that nations who allocate resources democratically will inevitably cannibalize themselves. It seems self-evident to me that 20 years after this process kicks into gear, a nation that doesn’t will come out on top. So why fight? Just found a neocameralist state. Doesn’t seem any less likely to me than convincing members of the silicon valley elite to tack their reputations to a radical, right wing political fringe movement just before its first birthday.

Individual focused hedonism is not really what leftism is. Leftism is about egalitarianism and statism as an extremist religious type doctrine. It’s true that it’s unsustainable because it’s self-annihilating by nature but the thing is that that only applies to the white people that practice it. Part of their program is multiculturalism meaning open borders for America and Europe. They’re filling America and European nations with third world immigrants. These people, unlike the leftists who are importing them, are not multicultural and are very ethnocentric and hostile to the native white populations and they breed a lot. So even if every leftist white dies off, this is what will be left for the white people that are left.

Nice attempt here. Are we ‘leftoids’ ?

    That’s hilarious.

I think you already know it’s not about left or right since each ‘side’ contains beautifully crafted narrative from conceptual philosophies we developed.

Sports: A grand joke that has me laughing despite the fact that it’s difficult to see grown ups becoming so emotional about them. Obesity is a real problem, so they watch sports and avoid eating fat. They should eat fat and build their bodies by actually working out, but watching sports (and crying when his team loses) is somehow ‘American’ — what’s needed is best explained here: http://www.lifegivingshow.com

If you’re sincerely interested in knowing what this ‘Cathedral’ is about, lets have a conversation. It has nothing to do with the money, and anyone that says it is all about the money is delusional and oblivious. How much is a dollar worth anyway?

I’ve risked my life to say no to those offers. Our teams have worked to make sure the narratives contained stuff that was safe for nieces and nephews to enjoy… but the supposed “right” (what a joke) never sent its talented children to Los Angeles to help. Instead, they chose the illusion of ‘security’ … the college route (gross waste of YEARS of their lives) which led them to some fake job.

It’s good you opened up this discussion, but, please, if you’re going to do it, let’s begin by not feeding the illusion that left and right actually exist. These are created elements that spring from the same continuous flow of vomit. My teams are the magic happiness potion mixed into the popular vomit that affects lives around the world in a positive way. Discussing ‘left’ or ‘right’ is a distraction that the invented narratives hope you will continue to do.

@Tilon for sure these ideologies exist, but they’re simply sourced from the same sources of vomit. It’s time to understand that this is as unnecessary of the continued search for alternative sources of energy. Energy has already been replaced, but everything in our lives revolves around the use of unnecessary energy sources. Imagine that the energy source for the fictional USS Enterprise exists… or the one so many have told me about in the book “Atlas Shrugged” … imagine that this energy device exists now. It would change all games. Collectivism vs. individualism, as you know, is real yet just a game. It’s a great baby sitter for humans that have chosen to focus attention where it only feeds the energy of the high-speed train to destruction and death. Every man that doesn’t choose to learn from Vic at http://www.lifegivingshow.com has already chosen his weak fate. “Hollywood” creations are not about this left vs. right thing, it’s much deeper than this. A movie, a video occurs one frame, one photo, one painted frame of digital film at a time. Rather than absorbing so much of it, take a three-minute hit and watch it a frame at a time, then come back to me and tell me it’s as simple as collectivism vs. individualism. There’s something bigger than that happening which ultimately has nothing to do with money. Money is just a tool.

A lot of the “creativity” of these writers is just repressed anger with authority that they are too passive (beta!) to actually DO something about, so they sublimate it in their writing. Their hatred of their fathers, and with patriarchal authority, fits perfectly with women’s hatred of male dominance. Not a coincidence.

All Hollywood writing is ultimately about selling the products, and women spend about 80% of the money (by some estimates). She who pays the piper calls the tune, you’d better believe it.

Most of us wish to return to exactly that, where truth is exalted and intellectuals were willing to let the chips fall where they may. Voltaire would be a racist today though as so many others in the past have been mislabeled to score cheap political points. We are ruled by tribalist propaganda instead. We as a nation don’t seek truth. We prop up a bunch of lies used to extort money and set us against one another by creating grounds for festering resentments, when if there were one set of rules only, everyone would play their best game, or more would than do now. I don’t believe that black people reach their potential at all in this society because they limit themselves most of all by allowing themselves to be shortchanged on schools by the current tribal spoils system that is city education. I have no doubt that if we expected more of all kids at school even the slow ones would be smarter than today. We need to kick out the thugs and focus on the kids that want to learn. We mollycoddle and romanticize the thugs instead and create an ethos that is contra to learning. We are producing huge quantities of human garbage with our current policies and it will destroy us as a society.

    This:
“Its product is the result of what I would call an emergent conspiracy, or an informal conspiracy. It’s not a formal, deliberate conspiracy in the sense the word is typically used; there’s no secret council meeting of elders in an underground bunker plotting the best way to transmit their degenerate meme virus. Rather, something resembling a conspiracy develops from the collective actions of an industry in which nearly all of its members think alike, as a hivemind.”

    Reminded me of this:
“Theirs is a conspiracy against the mind, which means: against life and man.

“It is a conspiracy without leader or direction, and the random little thugs of the moment who cash in on the agony of one land or another are chance scum riding the torrent from the broken dam of the sewer of centuries, from the reservoir of hatred for reason, for logic, for ability, for achievement, for joy, stored by every whining anti-human who ever preached the superiority of the ‘heart’ over the mind.

“It is a conspiracy of all those who seek, not to live, but to get away with living, those who seek to cut just one small corner of reality and are drawn, by feeling, to all the others who are busy cutting other corners-a conspiracy that unites by links of evasion all those who pursue a zero as a value: the professor who, unable to think, takes pleasure in crippling the mind of his students, the businessman who, to protect his stagnation, takes pleasure in chaining the ability of competitors, the neurotic who, to defend his self-loathing, takes pleasure in breaking men of self-esteem, the incompetent who takes pleasure in defeating achievement, the mediocrity who takes pleasure in demolishing greatness, the eunuch who takes pleasure in the castration of all pleasure” -Ayn Rand

“But they act individually instead of at the directive of a leftoid overseer. The problem is that they so vastly outnumber opposing viewpoints that the sum of their individual creative decisions are indistinguishable from a single conspiratorial directive. What few opposition members there are find it easier to go along to get along.”

The concept you are describing is called “hegemony”. When you have such total control of the public consciousness that it becomes like the air people breathe or the water that fish swim in. You no longer even have to argue that something is right or wrong. People just … know. And anyone who says differently is obviously insane or evil or both. Liberalism no longer has to come up with a good argument for itself. It has buried Marxism, National Socialism and Fascism. It reigns supreme. Read Alexander Dugin who, together with Alain Benoist and others are trying to come up with post-Liberalism — post-Modernism. The weakness of liberalism is that it is fundamentally linear. We go from a lower state to a higher and ultimately transcendent state. To them, history is not cyclic, We do not have recurrent conditions and problems. For people who believe in repeating patterns, such as the founders of this country, safeguards against tyranny are critical. For a liberal they aren’t. We are always moving upward, liberating man more and more from everything. Even his own nature. The poor will not “be with you always”. We will reach a transcendent state in which no one will ever be poor. Progress is their God. And now that they have achieved Hegemony across the world, they are unsheathing their claws. Why do you think that they don’t care about the NASA. With liberals in charge there is nothing to fear from spying … ever.

The group that has its ‘collective foot’ on the neck (media, finance, politics) of the US does NOT worship in a cathedral. And, the repeated use of the word “cathedral” by CH and other pied-pipers is intentionally misleading, it is word-play, it is a clever semantic slight-of-hand.

Why is it that guys like CH other ‘red pill thinkers’ will eagerly present tons of info/research to support their views to agitate the masses of frustrated and scared white males on female hypergamy, Black/Latino failures, female obesity, etc…HOWEVER…never a peep about what is really going on and WHO is really doing it?

If people want to call modernism a cathedral that’s fine by me. But I don’t think its very helpful as a metaphor.

For instance, before, say, Mozart, there were no political art categories. All artists were establishment because that’s where the money was, as it is today. So, artsy fartsy types always go for money because they need to pay the rent.

My problem with anti-establishment people today is that they project their own reasoned complex theories onto a system, a cathedral so to speak, that doesn’t exist. Or rather, exists within a sensibility they are unwilling or unable to grasp.

    Why….?

    3. Ans: So that White people draw the false conclusion that overly-sensitve Black people killed Paula Deen’s empire.

Have a read of Bruce Charlton’s exposition of (Eysenck’s) psychoticsm and creativity vs openness and creativity.

    http://charltonteaching.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/creativity-and-eysencks-psychoticism.html

In short, psychoticsm is the true motivater behind true creativity and openess is just pseudo-creativity and is essentially a (de facto) measurement of ‘How much do you resemble the stereotypical Leftist intellectual elite member’.

In other words, those who wish to sabotage the Cathedral will need to find rightists who love to fight, fuck and flip the bird to the orthodoxy.

If you insist on using the Cathedral make sure you at least acknowledge your propagandizing on the behalf of the overlords that Christan Cathedrals are evil. It makes the overlords happy and shows your subservience to their guidance.

“In other words, those who wish to sabotage the Cathedral will need to find rightists who love to fight, fuck and flip the bird to the orthodoxy.”

    Good luck with that.

Right or left, both are 90% sheep running on collective interest. The right is currently trying to prevent fucking, and the left is trying to prevent fighting, and neither will bite the hand that feeds them whatever flavor of garbage either loves to ingest.

What must happen is what always must happen, and that is independent thinkers who know the game must get over whatever aversion they have to being shepherds, and work their mojo.

The problem is that I’ve seen the enemy up close and personal, and it is twisted. It sublimates its own aggression and/or sexuality, and seeks to transform the masses into zombies who do that and more. So beneath the surface of either head of this dragon is a rotten soul.

I believe that if there’s any salvation for this system at all, a new alternative with some mass appeal and staying power must be created. It has to do better than the left at not alienating the strong, and better than the right at not alienating the intelligent.

    Seriously, good luck.

If simply not hiding, regardless of the consequences, counts as shamelessness, then I am indeed guilty of this. I don’t believe that it is a good thing to lie about who one is and what one looks like, especially when one is posting and hoping to get honest, relevant feedback in a community learning about relationships and sexuality.

Lots of guys here use an alias, but they are consistent enough that who and what they are is very clear. You oscillate between victim and bully so often though, that I don’t think even you know who you are.

When someone is picking on me, I consider the source. Weakness hates strength, and cowardice hates courage. You can tell a lot about a guy by what makes him angry.

Everyone is free to judge my looks. I don’t mind. The fact that not everybody is going to like how I look does not bother me. When I was thinner, some people didn’t like how I looked then either. It was the same. Some thought I was beautiful, and some at least said they thought I was the ugliest thing on the face of the Earth.

The people who’ve made the biggest fuss about how ugly I am were self pitying losers. People who aren’t, are usually very happy about my dietary improvements, the resultant weight loss and better health, and the fact that I’m out there swimming, hiking, dancing, and doing things I couldn’t as intensely for years. The winners are happy for me.

You…there is nothing I could possibly do to be human to you, so why should I cut you any slack?

OT, but let me take a shot at an explanation, defense, devil’s advocate for Haidt in reference to your tweet:

@JonHaidt It would seem liberals’ exaggerated sensitivity to harm and fairness doesn’t extend to rednecks or white males in general. No?

Not when there are blacks involved.

Or, to a lesser extent, hispanics or other races involved.

The thinking is that whites collectively and historically oppressed other races, but especially blacks in America.

Now a conservative, or unexaggerated sensitivity to harm and fairness might say, well, sure, ok, there was _some_ of that, which is partly why we got rid of slavery, but it doesn’t justify stuff now. Lines have to be drawn. For example, it doesn’t justify or make it fair for Trayvon to beat down Zimmerman for no good reason other than him asking a reasonable question or at worst being nosy. It doesn’t even mitigate Trayvon’s sin.

On the other hand, a liberal’s exaggerated sensitivity extends further across time and space, and does not draw a hard and fast ‘no collective punishment’ line, or a ‘give me a break that was hundreds of years ago line’ with the result that any partial descendent of a slave can abuse any partial descendent of slave-holders*, and that abuse will be, if not justified, at least mitigated as an offense for purposes of fairness.

*There’s a lot of slipperiness of course so that the race card can be played in many and varied situations.

Here is what I wrote on the subject somewhere else:

But this brings me to the question of who are those leftists one keeps
hearing about. Let’s leave aside any analysis of the historical
meaning of the political left, and instead look at what kind of people
in today’s America would be called “leftist”.

Leftists consist of two major subgroups: the losers and the winners.
The losers are rank and file blue collar proles, inept hippie types,
various Occupy freaks and catspaws, low-ranking academics and other
    assorted riffraff. Not very interesting.

The winners however are, despite spouting the same slogans, a
completely different species. The two outstanding features they
exhibit are hypocrisy and obsession with social status. Enviously
looking around, they are driven by a desire to claw their way to the
top of the status pyramid. In a bygone era they might have worked for
the holy church, or for General Motors – any institution where
bureaucratic ranks provide a clear structure for individual social
progression. In today’s world the nation- or world-state is the locus
of power which is why the culturally Marxist flock there.

The ideal habitat for the leftist winner is the school or university,
where elevated status is built into the job description of the teacher
or professor. The accumulation of leftists in schools lead to
increasing leftist indoctrination of consecutive generations, and
eventual leftist “takeover” of the society with 90% or more of
government bureaucrats and academics voting for a nominally leftist
party. I am using the word in parentheses, since nothing has really
changed: The same kind of people who might have spouted Christian
sermons in 1913 now spout traditional leftist shibboleths but their
essence, hypocrisy and obsession with status, are still there.

The kind of people currently referred to as “leftists” have to be
hypocritical. Their idea of eudaimonia involves a relative superiority
which implies the existence of inferiors. Since hardly anybody likes
being called inferior, the aspiring leftist who wants to avoid
pushback must be at pains to deny the importance of status, or even
deny the possibility of somebody being inferior. This explains their
public, flat denial of the importance of IQ (and a private obsession
with it), and the denial of gender or racial differences. In order to
appear less threatening and more humane, the leftist endlessly
expresses concern for various victim groups. Of course, the leftist is
not very willing to part with his own resources to help those in need
because he does not truly care about them (not surprising, since
almost nobody cares, but this is another story altogether), and
usually demands that other people’s money should be used – but the
credit should flow the the leftist. That’s why homeless people’s cell
phones are called “Obamaphones” and not “MyTaxDollarPhones”.

The above explains the seemingly strange combination of egalitarian
rhetoric used by our masters, and their resolute practical commitment
    to ruthless, hierarchical control.

Because of all that, it is not only unsurprising but rather completely
inevitable that the administration using more traditionally leftist
rhetoric ends up being even more authoritarian than their junior
partners in the scam (the Republicams, in case you don’t get my
drift). 99.9% of government employees are unelected, and most of them
are culturally leftist but in practice conventionally power-grabby
hacks, just like their spiritual predecessors since ancient Babylon’s
first clerics. You let them work with a few elected, arrogant,
narcissistic, hypocritical social strivers steeped in commie rhetoric,
and the sky is the limit (at least as far as the budget deficit goes).

“The only hope for anti-leftoids — and it’s a small hope — is to identify and cultivate those few like-minded individuals who peculiarly score high in openness to experience and also have a creative energy that propels them beyond the realm of rooting for the home team.”
As may already have appeared in comments above, I haven’t the time to scan for it: aren’t these folks what some of us call libertarians?

OK, scanned for the word ‘libertarian’ and found only a (possible) slam on libertarians, but not the word itself. Hunh.

But there’s another problem with the clarion call for anti-leftoids to recreate the media landscape in their image, and it goes much deeper than ill-chosen recipients of funds. The root of the problem lies in the differing psychologies of leftoids and non-leftoids.

It’s the Psy Ops! The Psy Ops! The sky is falling. No, really! YOU DON’T SEE it but the sky is falling. What? You just bought somethign at the grocery store and it tastes delicious? The shelves were full? THAT’S JUST PSY OPS. It just shows that they’re lulling you to sleep, and that it’s more likely that the sky is falling!

The right is fighting the culture war. They’re actually doing it a lot better than the left. The difference is that while the left is going after our feels, the right is going after our money.

I think you’re wrong that the anti-leftoids don’t have the fight in them to wage a culture war. But the culture war they wage is a war against sexual freedom. (Many of them seem to dislike contraception, even.) That’s not the culture war we are looking for…
