I would agree that MOST people are more miserable today than the 50s, but that is only because society (and the SMV in particular) are extremely cutthroat these days. There is no room for nicety and solidarity, it is the law of the jungle.

Further explaining my stress: some nuance. I figured *everything* out in 2005, when reading about the coming Gold Wars, etc. Everything that has happened, I predicted. The real estate crash, bailout, etc. As I’ve written here, I’m a divorced dad who loves my 2 kids. I’m stuck in a major city because I will not leave my kids, nor can I take them or force my ex wife to leave. I literally wanted to buy land back in 2006–when I could have done it–and learn how to grow my own food. Even a small piece of land. Now, when it all goes down, I guess I would not be able to hold off 400,000 starving people with my Glock, but….anyway. I’m sitting here knowing about things that are going to happen, I fear, but can’t do anything about it. Like…when it’s time for me to get out, if it’s a week day, I can’t get my kids to take with me. I can’t leave them. I have this stress every year on a minor level simply when hurricanes come. My ex is just a normal, nonthinking sheep. Nice enough. Harmless. She won’t even agree to make a “meet up spot” plan so I can get her and the kids and protect all of us. She laughs at me when I try to tell her about things like the coming economic collapse.

Yah, and dude, living in a city. Think about a city like Miami–500,000 in the city and 5 million in the metro area. Hardly any natural areas with any food, even if one knows how to shoot a rifle!!! There is no food; only concrete. Just look around a city. I can grow food too, but I live in a high rise condo, am tied to my life now. I really am. Nobody tell me just to leave. I cannot leave my kids. You can’t understand unless you are a good dad. Now….before someone mentions this…ya the Everglades and alligator and rabbit meat are not too far away, but even that, believe it or not, has less food than one might think….sure a man could survive like the natives did, but there is not enough for 5 million of us!!! There are simply too many humans, by FAR, on top of each other in metro areas. So many useless fat slobs. I’m useless in the grand scheme of things compared to a man 300 years ago, too, but at least I’m conscious of it! It is so irritating to me now–never used to be–to see SO MANY fat, slob humans who DO NOTHING to earn a right to even eat!!! Like, go to Sea World or something and watch the 500 slobs watching the whale show. I’m starting to think the bug was right in the first Will Smith Men in Black movie–humans are an infestation on this planet! And I’m not saying that from a leftie/liberal “save the earth” perspective. I’m saying it from a “save the humans” perspective…like our technology allowed our species to become TOO successful, which automatically leads to a situation where we have a bottom class who do no work yet receive $1200 a month from welfare, and then get a tax refund from other people’s taxes–the beta white male slaves)!! I volunteered at a pro bono clinic the other day and met several of these folks….essentially homeless and they get a check (and free shelter if they want it…their own apartment with a locking door too) for $900 a month. Not bad spending money when they only have to pay $35.00 towards their rent….govt picks up the rest. The entire situation is just so far gone out of control it’s ridiculous.
But even the middle level who have cube jobs….they at least “earn” a paycheck and pay taxes, but they are just fat slops 99.5% of the time…sit there eating hot dogs watching dolphins jump around when they are already carring literally 70 pounds of excess fat.
I ate and gave my kids some nachos and a soda yesterday only because we were stuck at this theme park (yeah my choice) and had to eat something. Literally not possible to eat healthy there. Yet the sheep don’t even contemplate that.
That was a one time thing, and I made up for it by feeding them healthy fish, no carbs, for dinner. But of course if you stand in line there or a McDonald’s (I got there once every 2 weeks for a little treat or if I’m stuck out and need something), and I’ll get one small sandwhich or 6 nuggets and drink water…rest of time I cook my own paleo food, but anyway go there and you’ll be in line behind 4 slobs who each are carrying 80 pounds of excess fat, ordering their McDs that they ahve for every fucking meal!!!!! just pathetic.

Nobody knows that at seventeen. I was relatively chubby in high school and the guys at service academies won’t touch a female classmate unless they’re dying-of-blue-balls desperate. You’d probably call me a liar if you saw me, but I genuinely had no idea I was anything approaching cute. Plus, I’ll admit, I actually bought that bullshit about women and men being able to work perfectly together with no sexual tension or unprofessional behavior coming up. Going on active duty and finding out that guys basically just saw me as a sex object was actually a pretty terrible experience (stupid little Catholic virgin getting directly asked for sex by every man in the squadron over 30? Yeah, that was not fun). Taught me a lot, though. A lot of girls these days never get broken out of that fantasy world we’re raised in.
But that was my experience. I think what Greg was referring to is that there’s a certain segment of female members – usually 3 to 6s, maybe – who actively take advantage of the skewed male/female ratio to act like whores. Or get pregnant on deployments to come home early. Or use sexual assault charges against men they don’t like. And yes, they unfortunately exist. But most of us just want to be taken seriously.

The ones who behave that way on a regular basis are a small but irritatingly visible minority. You get a cross-section of idiots who think it’s okay to breast-feed in uniform, but at least on the officer side of the house, you’re talking about women who have the inclination and ability to major in things like engineering. Still, conservatives have always sensed pretty clearly that the contemporary liberal-left is a lot closer to Bolshevism then it would ever acknowledge, or even understand. (This after the 1930s, in which the “parlor pinks”, the “limousine liberals” of that era, were explicitly pro-Soviet.)
Lefties don’t really agree with pluralism- the imperative to live and let live alongside lifestyles or opinions they disagree with. They want to stamp them out. Like Marxism, and its offshoots feminism, environmentalism, and related isms, it represents an ersatz religion, a secular system of belief that, like religions, has difficulty coexisting with apostates.
Certain quarters of the right- religious nuts most prominently, but also extreme nationalists (who trend toward fascism) share the same trait. But generally the right has more libertarian and realist DNA in its makeup than the left. Even traditionalism (think Burke) implies a tolerance for the quirks and failings of humanity, not a Utopian desire to eradicate them in the name of abstractions. Certainly today, when the left has already won most of the social battles of the last 50 years, the right can either accept those victories as new traditions, or retreat into a crankish fantasy land. (Note to the GOP: choose wisely.)
So Obama-era liberalism, as viewed and amplified through sage NYT reportage, Stewart/Colbert amen-corner mockery, Vanity Fair puffery, or “we’re-smarter-than-you” sites like Slate, Salon, and countless others, collectively amount to a shockingly intolerant sort of groupthink- intolerant of precisely those values and institutions that built the country into a world power and industrial leader. A Freudian/generational perspective might add that those values were more or less those of the parents of the Boomers, who rebelled against them in their adolescence 45 years ago and, in a sense, never really stopped doing so.

Ok I just can’t take it anymore. How the *fuck* can the federal DOJ be investigating Zimmerman, a private citizen, for “civil rights” violations? He’s simply a fucking citizen!!! “Civil rights” violations can only be perpetrated *by the government*. This is simple Con Law 101 for 40 years, even under the liberal opinions. The only potentially applicable laws could be statutory (bullshit) “hate crime” laws, which would properly be STATE laws, not federal, athough I’m sure the overreaching feds have created some kind of federal “hate crime” laws and bullshittingly justified it under the Commerce Clause. It’s very depressing to be a lawyer who graded on to law review and really gets how law is supposed to be and then be aware of what is happening in our country right now. Makes it very hard to go to work as a lawyer every day.
A fucking state jury found Zimmerman not guilty after watching the evidence presented in court every day, even after the judge made several pro-prosecution evidentiary rulings. That’s it. The JURY is our last line of defense!!!
7th Amenment and also 5th amendment right not to be subject to double jeopardy!!!

But on top of everything, again, just my one point is enough to stop: Zimmerman is simply a private citizen. One who was charged with a crime and found not guilty by a jury of his peers, which happens all over the country every day. He followed a suspicious black person in his neighborhood and it turns out he was right to be suspicious. How the fuck can the federal government be investigating him for a “civil rights” violation just because they don’t like the jury’s verdict?????

I saw one part of documentary where they were somewhat honest and said most of the women were checking out the players in the locker room. but of course it was no big deal because they were naked bodies and everybody checks out naked bodies. I know I’ve left a lot of comments in the last couple of days, but I can’t but leave another one.
I’m not singling anyone out, but it seems there a some commenters who see everything through the prism of a woman’s sexual appetite — the most recent example being the Zimmerman case.
To dispel the notion that a woman’s verdict is dictated primarily by her sexuality, I’ll offer a hypothetical scenario. Let’s say you are a juror in a cases between 2 women. The defendant is an 18-year-old East European mynx with a gorgeous face and a DDD cup. Conversely, the plaintiff is the worst piece of garbage you’ve ever seen — one eye is set lower than the other and seems to have a pulse of its own. Furthermore, her face contains several moles with a hair coming out of each.
There is no doubt you would wish to do ravish the former and cover the latter with a cloth, but that doesn’t mean you would hand the defendant an innocent verdict.
Now, some might argue that women are less logical than men, so my example proves nothing. However, men’s sexual urges contaminate their decision-making too. If we see a hot woman beside a broken-down car we stop to help; if she is a fat dog he keep on driving (in this instance, ‘we’ refers to men collectively as opposed to members of this blog). This is not logical: the chances of getting pussy for helping her fix her car are close to nil. Men do other charitable things for women who are pretty too. I’ve seen it demonstrated on tv shows and such. Despite this we are still capable of handing down rational decisions.
I’m far from a feminist, but women aren’t quite as dumb as some here think. In fact, I’ll go a step further and say that if you think the jurors were sitting there lusting after some ghetto turd or his tubby captor, you’re probably dumber than the women on the jury.
