I believe feminists have a point about the existence of institutional misogyny. It drenches every aspect of our culture, and shapes the minds of men, leading some of them to commit atrocious acts against women. For an example of this, read these lyrics of a popular hit song:
You must not know ’bout me,
You must not know ’bout me;
I could have another you in a minute
And in fact she’ll be here in a minute.
Don’t you ever for a second get to thinking you’re irreplaceable…
This is what institutional misogyny looks like. Men taking women for granted, thinking women are not humans deserving of respect, and worst of all, believing that women are interchangeable. This is the patriarchal power structure we must all fight against if we want a better world of empowered women and empowering deferential men.
