Study: Makeup Doesn’t Do Much

March 11, 2015 by CH

Many moons ago, Chateau comptrollers presented their findings on the value of makeup as a sexual market value (SMV) boost for women. Conclusion: Makeup doesn’t add much to the typical woman’s looks. Worse, the value of makeup to women appeared to be declining as a result of massive cultural shifts in the dating market.

Many esteemed, and not so esteemed, guests of CH howled with indignation. Women insisted makeup turned them into beautiful princesses, so skilled was their application that men were utterly fooled by the cosmetic magic. Some men agreed, pointing to before and after photos of celebrities and fashion models as proof of the radical change in appearance that makeup could produce.

But, as CH explained to the disputants, the 0.5 point average SMV boost from makeup is a generalization that applies to the vast majority of women. The few weirdo outliers who experience 2 or more points of SMV increase from makeup are the exceptions who prove the rule.

Now, one is certainly free to disagree with a Heartiste opinion. But, more often than not, that would be a mistake. Right on cue, 🐴SCIENCE🐴 canters into the pen so that CH may ride her toward the sunset, victorious.

Cosmetics have little effect on attractiveness judgments compared with identity.

While at Bangor University’s School of Psychology, Dr Alex Jones, (now at Gettysburg College, Pennsylvania, USA) and colleague, Dr. Robin Kramer of the University of York, recently investigated this question. To do this, they asked participants to rate the same faces with and without makeup, with the restriction that no one person saw the same woman made up and un made-up. If makeup is important for attractiveness, it should overcome the variation in attractiveness between faces easily. But if it contributes little, then the variation between faces could overshadow any benefits of makeup.

The good news was that faces with makeup were rated as more attractive – nothing new there. But when they examined all the variation in attractiveness judgments, they found an application of makeup explained only 2% of this variation. In comparison, the variation between faces accounted for 69%. This was very surprising. It’s perhaps unfeasible for makeup to completely overcome differences between individuals, but the size of its effect on attractiveness is remarkably small.

CH knob status: Polished.

If anything, CH overestimated the SMV boost of makeup. According to this research, the attractiveness enhancing effect of makeup was measly, and hugely overshadowed by the biomechanic, intrinsic differences in the facial bone substructure of women. Or, beauty is DNA deep, ladies, and men can tell the difference between a beautiful face and a plain face no matter how subtly you shade your blush.

What do these results mean? Dr. Kramer, of the Department of Psychology at York, said “These findings show that, while makeup increases attractiveness, it is a very small contributor to attractiveness judgments. […]

The take-home message here seems to be that, for better or worse, our attractiveness is mostly determined by our natural appearance, and wearing makeup will only have a small effect in comparison.”

Don’t misunderstand the message of this post. Makeup may not improve a woman’s looks much, but it does do something. Women should, and will, continue to put the penis on a pedestal and try-hard to please men by using makeup to increase their attractiveness, even when that attractiveness increase is miniscule.

A 2% improvement in one’s odds doesn’t matter much in any endeavor…. except one:

The endeavor to find the highest quality mate possible for oneself.

The sexual market is the ur-market. It is foundational. All other markets — including the venerated economics market — bend their knees to the Sex Market Overlord. We humans may not have the perception to clearly understand or believe that a sex market governs all our actions and behaviors, (as it is the wont of the cosmic force 10 amplifier that the functioning of the sex market should remain opaque to the neural antennae of daily human consciousness), but that doesn’t mean our natural self-deluded state is proof that the sex market is a phantom.

It’s not surprising, then, that men and women will breathlessly grasp at the slimmest advantages to tilt the sexual market playing field in their favor, where the only game that matters is played, and played for a zero sum outcome in a battle as pitched, if not quite as bloody, as any war for survival. It’s why women will color their faces, despite receiving little benefit and less still the morning-after when the ruse is smeared off, for an infinitesimally small leg up over their female competition.

The stakes are that high.

PS With each day, science lends its imprimatur to the CH Dating Market Value Tests. Ladies, head on over and take the test for yourselves. Like 23AndMe, the patented CH DMV test will give you a readout of your overall attractiveness to men, where you rank relative to other women, and what that all means for your romantic prospects and your happiness.

I think that makeup doesn’t ostensibly raise a girl’s beauty. What it does do is soften the precipitous drop in their looks as they age. A bright eyed and fresh faced eighteen year old has a spark about them that makes makeup largely redundant. After a decade of binging on alcohol and dick and the stresses of working a mundane job have taken their toll makeup smooths the lines and becomes a handy crutch to lean on and gives them a few more years of free drinks from losers in bars.

      Or so they think.

FWIW, there is magic in the world. I’ve been shown websites that illustrate how asian girls are able to turn themselves into something new.

    a simple googling will demonstrate.

each one is slightly different but just about all of them have done some sort of contouring to thin out her nose and is wearing those freaky contacts that make their beady little eyes look normal size.

trying to look more like caucasian girls obviously.

never noticed that it was the small pupils that made asian eyes look different than caucasian eyes. i always thought it was the shape of the eye cavity and eyelids.

explains why i’m not a yellow fever guy. i’m a sucker for big beautiful and most asian girls do not have them. and beady eyes on anyone give me the creeps in a major way.

Yet, it seems most Asian girls don’t need makeup. They are either pretty or not. I have noticed that pretty much no Asian foreign students use it.

Another piece of trivia, Asians don’t use deodorant. They have less of the bacteria that rot in sweat and give it its bad smell. (Blacks have the most of those bacteria of all the races.) I remember an effort by a deodorant company to expand into China, presenting deodorant as something Westerners use, so the Chinese should too. “We need to convince the Chinese that they smell.” It was the most shameless admission of how unnecessary a company’s product was that I’ve ever seen. The Chinese don’t smell, so they must be convinced that they do simply so the product can be sold.

Anyway, speaking of Asian attractiveness: Could it be that there are two archetypes for beauty? For Blacks, Arabs, Turks, Jews, Kurds etc the rule is that they look better the closer they are to the White archetype. Just look at surgically enhanced blacks and fake hair, e.g. Beyonce and Tyra Banks. But Asians can look attractive without approaching the White archetype. So the East Asian archetype could be a separate attractive pattern. For Southeast Asians, the rule is that – barring heavy White admixture – they look more attractive the more they approach the East Asian archetype. (Yes, yes: “still not as good-looking as Whites”, but nevetheless.)

Absurd claims. Asian women wear shitloads of makeup.

And that study about body odor is also ridiculous. Many things affect BO. Ive worked with many blacks in construction. Some smell, some dont. I know siblings who have differing levels of BO and my father was fat and had ZERO B.o.

Really, now, use your fucking brains.

Really, loool, you choose that to go ape over? “absurd claims” (but you have no facts to counter the fact I brought up), “use your brains” for that? Amazing.

I guess I have to repeat the information you won’t accept: the stench from sweat comes from a kind of bacteria dying and rotting in it.

You use a common debating tactic: since you can’t prove me wrong but won’t accept it, you misrepresent what I say, turning it to “body odor” instead. Where you can add in factors like, not wiping your ass, or wearing dirty clothes – that would cause more body odor. I’m talking about sweat. Which incidentally makes up most of the body odor. And yeah, Blacks stink more than others.

“Asians wearing a shitload of makeup”. Would this be Asians born in the U.S., I guess? The propasphere will make people do stupid things. I was very obviously talking about Asians from Asia, as I also wrote. No, they don’t wear much makeup, many don’t wear any at all, and they don’t need it. As also verified by the study in CH’s post. Point being, the result in the study seems to be even more true for Asians. I slept with a whole lot of Asian foreign students in college, I have some up-close-and-personal confirmation of their makeup habits or lack thereof.

Nope, English Dude. It’s in South Korea that plastic surgery is common, with about one in five of women – not men – getting plastic surgery. So the vast majority do not have surgery. So, “they”? Better get your facts right. The Koreans are closely followed by Greeks and Italians in the statistics. I guess that means “all the Greeks and Italians get plastic surgery”?

They all look alike says a guy with little experience of the people he is talking about. They look more similar than Whites, since they have dark hair and eyes, but they definitely don’t “all look alike”.

Technically it’s chemical byproducts of the bacteria’s metabolic processes of going to town on our excretions that maketh one stank, not dying and rotting…but the point remains valid. What we eat turns into us, and what we excrete comes from what we eat, so it’s entirely feasible that the East Asian diet leads to excretions whose bacterial by products are less odious than their US counterparts.

All the Korean women I’ve been close to smell (and taste) of kimchee.

And they buy and use cosmetics like no other market – even the men are world leaders in cosmetics purchases.

One possible flaw in this study is that they used photographs as the basis for assessment. Many people do no look like their photographs in real life. Plus there is the makeup art of applying based on the anticipated lighting. Women will design one makeup scheme for a candle light dinner and another for a day time football game.

Korean mainly get plastic surgery, but Thai do too, as well as some other Asian countries. A friend once showed me a pic of a Thai girl I knew, and she looked COMPLETELY different before the transformation.

Not hideous, just a standard Thai girl. Afterwards, she looked like an anime cutie. Then I started realising when I saw the exact same features on Asian student girls in the city.

Body odor issues are also related to diet.
A shitty diet or one high in spicy food will lead to BO.
On a different note; from my experience, women that don’t drink alcohol or drink very little tend to have the least smelly vaginas.

I think I will add to that in the 25-35 age bracket because younger than that the majority of women have flawless skin unless it has been artificially aged with hard bouts of drugs and alcohol consumption and over that it can no longer hide the looseness of skin and facial wrinkles from normal aging.

A while back, somebody left an astute comment pointing out that the insane feminist attack on normal, pretty women includes the current push towards uber-hyper-mega-over-too much makeup on very young, pretty girls, who don’t need it. I’m talking girls aged 16 to 20. This phenomenon is demonstrated glaringly on the Disney Channel, which is as YKW-evil narrative control as it can get, but is worth watching with your daughters only if you point out red pill things to them as it happens—like how Disney is telling them “you don’t need no man” and “you’re better off, baby, on your own” and “white men are not to be trusted” and “marriage and family is a bad idea” literally at least once every 15 seconds.

(Every single song sung by a girl on Disney is a variation of “I just dumped you and I got one less problem without you!!” grrrl power crap.)

(And every show features a black boy/white girl relationship, just like every Toyota commercial, every big bank commercial, and every other commercial from a Fortune 500 company, because the same people control our government, media, advertising, big business, medium sized business, banking, printing of money, and law, and it’s all the same insane-leftist fact-denial narrative control.)

But anyway… on the subtopic of makeup, what it can do is help make an older (but still pretty) woman look better, such as a 35 year old who is still pretty and has taken care of herself. (When 65 year old women paint themselves like clowns and have botox injections, however, as I don’t need to tell any man, it is hilarious and does not help them in any way.) Too much makeup is never good and of course men can see through it, but the idea is that a 35 year old can pass for 28 if she’s otherwise taken care of herself.

Too much makeup on everyone, however, makes (or tries to make) all females look the same (almost) – or at least ones like these several HB10s who are on Disney shows (if a 10 exists, there are more than a few of them on the Disney Channel—if you say there are no 10s, then they are hard 9s) look like painted clowns and they absolutely don’t need it and it hides their true, youthful feminine beauty.

Also, acne. Most women today have horrible acne that is exposed when they have no makeup, but it’s a vicious cycle because the makeup clogging their pores *caused* the acne.

I am surprised by the study. Especialy as someone who adores make up. I feel that it increases my looks by 2 points.

But I know what you mean Lara, as women get older it is important to change the type of make up. For example, I use Estee Lauder Double wear. Which is a very full coverage, heavy foundation. But I know, in some years I will change it because it is so heavy it will sink in to wrinkles and highlight them. I use foundation only when going out. But I dont even go to take my rubbish out with out my hair done and moisturised skin. I know that is sad. lol. But make up makes me feel more pretty. Sometimes when I do not line my eyes, my friend tells me I look tired.

If you dont need foundation just use lip pencil, lip crayon and mascara. It is enhancing and not a mask of foundation. Lip pencil is beautiful.

Interesting how little attractiveness makeup added in the test. But I bet it helps their self-esteem, like war paint. I know, I know, women are shameless steamrollers who don’t need more self-esteem. But that’s the most attractive women – the ones men think of when they think of women in the dating market.

Anyway, the test reminds me of movies where a girl wears glasses, a ponytail and drab clothes until her makeover, but everyone could see that she was attractive no matter what. Facial structure, body shape, skin texture. (I suspect the biggest effect makeup does have is in covering bad skin.)

Also reminds me of when a fat girl once dressed to the nines for a party and described what she had bought. I was thinking … what does it matter what she is wearing? She is still fat. She didn’t seem to understand.

As long as the clothes are not terrible, they do little to change a woman’s attraction level. Women just won’t believe this. I have told several, and they all say, “Maybe that’s just you, but other men….” They are convinced that clothes change their attraction level in men’s eyes. Perhaps because clothes are such an enormous hobby for them, so they can’t believe that they would do so little.

Makeup might not make girls that much more attractive but not dressing and grooming like a slob certainly does.

It’s the law of decreasing returns. A girl that is fat and dresses in flip flops and college sweater is going to look horrible. When slims down and dresses properly she gets a huge boost in attractiveness, then when you apply makeup on top of that she gets a littler boost.

I think I get the whole point of the post is basically ‘You can’t put lipstick on a pig’ which is entirely true. The same goes with men in that they try to achieve attractiveness through status symbols such as wealth, job or muscles when it doesn’t do that much if you don’t have your core personality to back it up.

While I believe the study I am much more attracted to women who wear makeup. It not only looks good to me, I like the attitude of a girl with makeup. She wants to look good. She is sexier. Natural girls are too wholesome for my tastes. Even if they are pretty (and a lot aren’t) girls without makeup just don’t radiate that sexual energy I find so stimulating. They are underwhelming to me. If that makes sense at all.

Like a naturally feminine tranny all done up in the dark. It might reel you in for a second look walking down the street. But up close the boner says no unless psychedelic drugs are used. I would posit that many men are guilty of the same self-delusion, that making some superficial adjustment to their appearance or behavior corresponds to an exponential increase in their SMV.

For example, the nice-shirt-and-shoes guy. Or the tattoo guy. The ferrari guy. Act-like-a-jerk-because-you-read-it-on-a-blog guy. The list could go on forever. These are the male versions of breast implants and mascara. To a degree they work. But just as there isn’t much you can do to hide/improve real beauty in a woman, there isn’t much you do to hide/improve real masculinity in a man either.

“Act-like-a-jerk-because-you-read-it-on-a-blog” and “negs” I suppose? That’s what every journalist writes when talking about PUA or the manosphere. “jerk” and “neg”, because they are easy to write about and easy to use to smear PUA. How often are those words actually mentioned in PUA/manosphere writings? They are part of a bigger whole.

Yes, dressing well helps. There are other things that also help. You can always say, “If she has decided to not sleep with you that one thing won’t change her mind, and if she has decided to sleep with you that doesn’t matter either”. Which is something game deniers often write. Which is like saying “If the employer has already decided to hire you, dressing well won’t change his mind”. So should you not care how you dress for a job interview? No single factor will bring success by itself, but they contribute. And the factors are not taught for the case where the outcome has already been decided, but for the cases that could go either way.

It’s hilarious to be an outsider reading in. I’m sure it gives many real alphas and females lots to giggle at. Then you have Elliot Rodgers who didn’t help men at all.

Tbh I’m personally not a fan of makeup & fake tan at ALL.

Hate kissing a lass and getting a mouth full of makeup, blergh.

Also I don’t like the cardboard cutout style effect, where if you remove the façade, there’s nothing behind it, the lass is presenting a false front with nothing to back it up.

I’d rather a lass work to keep her NATURAL self attractive, taking care of her skin, body size / shape and health, and wear a gorgeous smile. Small amounts of makeup (as with any other little accessory or posh dress) is nice for special occasions, such as a night out for dinner or whatever. Otherwise, I’ll go for the sweet, natural looking girl over the makeup-clad (wannabe) “stunner” anyday.

(My preferences may be slightly skewed because where I’m from, the girls really slap & slather it on in huge amounts to “cover”, rather than tactically applying smaller amounts to “enhance”).

Not into fake tits either. Much prefer smaller, perky ones over hideously fake, huge, bulbous ones. Natural is usually so much better.

Fakes are of course ok if practically completely flat chested, or they’ve been damaged or had some medical issue.

Not into fake tits – how tedious to hear that. Women don’t get implants if they already have good-looking breasts. Almost all implants are done to correct sagging breasts. When you say you prefer the natural, you are thinking of the natural breasts that look good, not the natural ones that sag. This is the same as when women say the cliché “Just be yourself!” or “You’ll find someone when you stop looking!” to guys – they are thinking of guys they are already attracted to. Yes, in that case, no need to improve anything.

following the links back to 2011, I read again your post on Paulina Porizkova being the elusive 10 by voting.

As with many others, she was my favorite hot model then, throughout the 80’s. She was in a couple movies. Took me years to track down the foreign magazine where she posed topless. blah blah blah. let me cut to the chase.

Ya want to know how Ric Okasec of the Cars rock band got her? His fame and fortune wasn’t enough to bag THE top supermodel of that time. Nope. He had to overcome that face of his. He needed a little something called “game”.

They met filming the music video “Drive”. The director Timothy Hutton wanted to show the various aspects of a relationship and breakup. To get the scene of her crying, he had Ric and her yelling and cursing and screaming at each other, over and over to get the take correct. Interspersed with the happier scenes.

Years later, after they were married, she still gushes about those few days of filming during interviews. Does this remind you of any particular seduction technique? Anyone? Bueller?

You think a red hot supermodel who showed up for her first major modeling gig at age 14, while wearing a t-shirt that read “Too drunk to fuck” hadn’t encountered some alphas? Some fame and fortune? You think she emotionally bonded to any of those alphas?

Ric should send a thank you card every year to Timothy Hutton.

As I have said countless times here and elsewhere…

    Makeup doesn’t help ugly chicks.
Makeup doesn’t do anything to augment hot chicks.
All makeup does is take a middle-of-the curve slightly cute girl and make her slightly more cute by hiding small flaws. Verdict: maximum 1 SMV point gain.

For the middle of the roadies, it makes sense. Doesn’t fix a fat ass, though.

@themanofmystery2, spot on!!! It does help girls who are attractive but may have uneven skin tone or make the eyes look slightly larger. To look attractive it doesn’t take that much makeup. Past a point, more makeup doesn’t actually help, it hinders. As my mother once taught me, less is more. Apparently we should make it appear as though we are not really wearing makeup.

It doesn’t help with facial structure but it does with contouring to reduce baby fat (usually seen on young thin girls) or removes the look of chubby cheeks of overweight girls (clothing can hide SOME fat on the body).

      Definitely helps the middle roadies.

Men be happy that women go to the effort of looking good … it’s not always just to impress other women. Many women want to make you happy and give you that dopamine spike. The trade off is we like being admired and desired. I personally like to be subtle about it.

Women insisted makeup turned them into beautiful princesses

Makeup works from a distance – like from across a room – blurring the imperfections, but up close it is artificial and worse tends to damage the skin – that is one of the reasons that I like them young. By the time a woman is in her mid-20’s the damage to her skin is starting to take it’s toll.

All of the women in my core group wear makeup only VERY sparingly – and only the lightest, usually eye shadow on special occasions. All of the “foundation” non-sense is forbidden – for a simple reason, when I nibble on her I don’t want chemicals in my mouth – I want skin…

Now, I am the first to admit when I’m on stage and see a woman in the audience I pick out the ones I’ll bang, and in that setting makeup helps – and by the end of the night, I’m horny enough that a 7 will do to take the edge off… But for anything long term – I’m MUCH more selective… But makeup tells you she’s looking for sex – like a tattoo or a tongue piercing…

The ‘explained variance’ is crap. Always look at correlation and not explained variance. A 2% explained variance implies that a 1 standard deviation improvement in makeup improves the apparent look of the woman by 0.15 standard deviations (0.02)^0.5, not 0.02 standard deviations. Explained variance is in nonlinear squared space and so is confusing. So, for example, if IQ is 80% explained by inheritance and 20% by environment, than the deviation of IQ from the norm is = 0.44*SD of the environment + 0.89* SD of genetic inheritance. A larger impact from both variables than the explained variance hides.

She contours their faces to make it look like they have angular cheekbones. 6s become 7s and 8s become 9s. “My god… I can’t believe how different I look!” they shriek, upon viewing the results in the mirror.

Don’t worry – I bring the cockier ones right back down to earth. It’s just an illusion, after all.

The hardest photograph to hide flaws is the 3/4. It is never the most flattering which is why people rarely pose as such but it can be useful for law enforcement or visa’s photos, etc. It is also quite useful for internet dating from the standpoint of the person viewing. Also, some people have a “money shot” or a certain look or angle where they look their best. If someone is photographed with the same smile or angle, there is usually a reason.

The classic explanation of the use of makeup has been that it makes the female face replicate the effects of sexual excitement when she is not (yet) excited. And who doesn’t want to see the face of a sexually excited women?

Fake breasts have a reputation for dulling their sensitivities as erogenous zones. Breasts – aka “fun bags” – are nice fashion acessories from my point of view but where they earn their keep is as ways to get your woman worked up and excited.

But then, I’m a butt man.

Partly that – the blush and red lips – but also simply to make the skin look even and make a face look livelier and healthier. Blushing cheeks are a sign of that too. Makeup also adjusts the proportions of the face so they better align with the facial archetype, which we instinctively find attractive as being close to that archetype is a sign of health. Coming back to the appreciation for things that show health, therefore survival value.

But there are those who describe all things as being about sex, when they’re really about survival. This is how Tribe member Freud distorted the view of the human mind, and how typical that he took a position that sounds close to the truth, but still wrong and leading the field astray. He even said that it was for political purposes: “Hitler made psychoanalysis necessary”. I.e., making White people think their minds were dirty, obsessed with “penis envy” and “anal obsession” etc, to make them feel they might as well let in the hordes of the world because they were no better than anyone else.

Calvin Klein can veto any model from appearing on his runway, but he probably spends most of his time negotiating with the buyers about payment terms they offer, and with his vendors about the payment terms they demand. His fax machine is much more important to him, than any vagina in the business.

I bet Calvin is more interested in the exchange-rate for the Bangladeshi Taka, than in which girl Ford Agency is sending over to replace the one who ended up in the morgue of Bronx Municipal Hospital due to a cocaine overdose.

I regularly peruse the trade magazines of the cosmetic-ingredients-chemistry manufacturing business. Page after page after page of beautiful models are seen in the adverts. No girl’s name is ever mentioned. Models are a dime a dozen.

[…] Many moons ago, Chateau comptrollers presented their findings on the value of makeup as a sexual market value (SMV) boost for women. Conclusion: Makeup doesn’t add much to the typical woman’s looks.  […]

    – “Women should, and will, continue to put the penis on a pedestal and try-hard to please men by using makeup to increase their attractiveness”

I personally do not believe that women use makeup to attract men.

[CH: you may not believe in sublimated sexual displays, but sexual displays believe in you.]

I believe that women use makeup and clothing to compete with the attractiveness of other women.

[same difference. women compete with other women to be the woman men can’t help but notice.]

The thought of attracting men hardly crosses their mind.

[this is what all girls say. doesn’t matter. the thought doesn’t have to cross your mind for the underlying function to be the same: namely, the enhancement of beaut to attract men from whom the woman can choose as her best option mate.]

They want to look better, more attractive, and get the attention of the women they’re competing against.

[look better… for men. be more attractive… for men. get the attention of women… to remind them not to poach their men.]

Attracting men is just a side effect.

[you have it backwards. attracting a suitable mate is the prime directive. makeup is the side effect.]

The only time women think about attracting a man is when they’re competing against each other for a man who has high social value.

[or anytime a sexy man enters the room, with or without other women present.]

The only time women put on makeup for a man is when they’re self-conscious about their imperfections which usually occurs at the beginning of a relationship.

[or, you know, occurs all the other times a woman wants to feel attractive, including the time as a single woman on the make.]

After she gets “comfortable”, she’s no longer self-conscious and quits wearing makeup.

[clarification: after her boyfriend turns beta, she no longer worries about pleasing him. and, fyi, most women deep in relationships continue wearing makeup outside the home.]

If that were true, we wouldn’t have men claiming they went to bed with a 10 and woke up with a 2. I guess there’s more women do to impress men (and impress other females). Maybe it’s the clothing, the fake bum implants, the push up bras, the wigs, eyelash extensions etc that they haven’t accounted for).

So I’m really glad to hear you admit that women go to the effort of looking good to impress men above.

When men “go to bed with a 10 and wake up with a 2,” it’s almost always because their BAC has returned to normal!!!

No amount of makeup can hide rolls of fat and a porcine/bovine ass.

    Just saying.

What girls who wear makeup seem to overlook is that some males are impressed not by mere looks but by a girl’s character. I’m personally into honesty and natural living, and when I see a cute girl who is NOT wearing makeup, I appreciate that she isn’t as shallow as the rest. (Think hippies.) I could care less if her face has a few flaws. Flaws are natural, and they will often show through layers of pancake makeup anyway.

I once saw an unattractive girl wearing way too much makeup to prom in high school, and I felt sorry she was trying so hard and failing so tragically. She should have bet on her personality. Focus on your strengths. Don’t try to be something you’re not.

Interesting research. What’s a Plain Jane to do then? Growing up I used to hear my grandmother say pretty often, to my female cousins (who were around my age), “Pretty is as pretty does.” It wasn’t until much later that I realized her admonishments were not simply designed to guide the behavior of these girls. It was also intended to prepare them for a time when their youthful beauty would be a distant memory, and all they’d have to recommend them to the men in their lives would be the pleasant nature of their company. In Red Pill terms, “get in the habit now of not being a bitch, for your post-Wall years.”

Have to disagree. I much prefer a woman who looks naturally beautiful. No makeup. But look up the photo comparison of porn stars with or without makeup. Look at Jennifer Aniston without makeup.

3 Hours with a professional makeup artists will work wonders. Some women benefit more than others. In any case, the sexy woman you see on a first date…will look nothing like the woman you wake up next to months or years later. So, screen for personality. IMO a woman attractive without makeup or effort. Better if her mom ages well (for any LTR potential.)
