Steve Sailer, bless his hardening heart, has a post up about a Charles Murray article reminding leftoid paymasters that high achievement on tests like the SAT are more a consequence of genetic heritage than of socioeconomic status.
One of the commenters, Jonah, draws the mostly-unspoken parallel of SAT scores to female hypergamy:
I’d wager a guess that the correlation would be significantly stronger if the father’s IQ could have been assessed as well. I’d assume that there are a significant number of affluent families where the father is the skilled/educated breadwinner.
This is very astute and under-considered by sociologists looking at longitudinal data like these. Given hypergamy – the propensity for women to “marry up”, and the willingness of men to “marry down” in favor of looks or other non IQ traits – I would bet Murray’s point would be amplified by if you looked at father’s IQ instead of mother’s. Wish he had the #s for dads/SAT rather than moms/PIAT. Would be a stronger and more striking piece.
By the way, I doubt I’m the only person here whose father was smarter than my mother. It’s probably true for over 60% of the population but you never hear about it. For people with one parent SIGNIFICANTLY smarter than the other, I bet it’s Dads over Moms 10-1.
And yes, the math checks out. Dumb, low status men, and ugly smart women are more frequently shut out of the marriage game than their gender opposites.
Female hypergamy in the West is, at least in its current configuration, dysgenic. Smart, overcredentialed women are shunting their smart genes into an ever narrower demographic slice, because these women can’t stomach the thought of “marrying down” in intelligence or phonyfuck credentials. And we see exactly that playing out, as the fertility rate of high IQ white mimosaettes is zeroing in on a little over 0.0 kids per woman.
But high IQ fathers, especially conservative fathers who don’t do woman’s work, have higher fertility and thus “male hypergamy” is eugenic. The primary reason has to do with the lifetime SMV slopes of men. High achieving men experience a gradual increase in their SMVs peaking at right about the time same-age women’s SMVs are crashing into the Wall. Many of these men go on to second or third younger wives, and produce second or third families of scions.
A secondary reason for the eugenic effect of male hypergamy — the urge to pair off with ever-younger, hotter, tighter minxes — is the fact Jonah mentioned: High achieving/high IQ men cash in their higher SMVs for prettier women at a wider range of female smarts. Because, you see, to the vast majority of men, even to the SJW manlets in full denial mode, a woman’s youth and beauty are nitroglycerin to a man’s boner. Blows it right up. A woman’s smarts? No effect. Worse for the grad school ladies, boners will sometimes wither under the droning onslaught of SMRT women with something insufferably feminist to prove.
In the final analysis, high IQ women demographically hoard their advantageous genes, just like they romantically hoard their eggs. High IQ men, in contrast, spread their advantageous genes just like they spread their sperm.
Which brings us to the fascinating, if perturbing to fragile minds, question Jonah asks: Is your father smarter than your mother?
I can recall with the crystal clearest clarity only Lucifer’s favored son can summon that it did, and does, seem to me most of my peers’ fathers were/are brighter than their mothers. (NB: I am not a product of a black ghetto. I only play one on TV.) There were a few glaring exceptions, and like all exceptions they are extraordinarily memorable by reason of their rarity. Mostly, these pairings featured a ballbuster proto-feminist tankwife cracking the whip over the back of a stepnfetchit beta hubby. Not all though. A few couples in which the mother of my friend was noticeably smarter than the father had the right sexual polarity — submissive wife and dominant husband — that managed by way of alchemical sexual magic to work despite the father’s relatively gimped brainpower.
That’s the monkey wrench in the patented CH theory of dysgenic female hypergamy: The allure of badboys — who may or may not have upper quintile SAT scores — to all women, maybe especially to SMRT women surrounded in their milieus by supplicating beta males. If the Pill and condom and abortion weren’t acting as procreation thwarting intermediaries, the fertility of high IQ women might be a lot higher, as they opened the un-latexed gates to their eggs to sundry charming jerkboys.
Evolution grinds regardless. Where are we heading? I don’t know, but I do know the late 20th-early 21st century paradigms are not long for this world. More and more it appears the historical pairing of smarter, high achieving men with prettier, low achieving women has been severed and hijacked by powerful anti-human social forces. More and more the romantically healthy arrangements are upended by discordant faux-aristocratic entities. What was once common — a vital middle class distinguished by fathers smarter and higher achieving than mothers — has become a curiosity gawked at by the destroyers of harmony.
We know our trajectory. What we don’t know is our destination. So certain are you that a bright, sunshiney day waits at the end?

My mom is smarter, but that’s because my dad doesn’t have any common sense.

I’ll disagree with that. Common sense is more about recognizing limitation and making the most of what you have. Something that those at both ends of the IQ spectrum can fail to have. Asperger types fail to recognize their limitations regularly, while often having high IQs. Modern women have had the benefit of recognizing their limitations relentlessly beaten out of them by the toxic culture, hence the general lack of common sense we see today among them – smart or stupid.

He’s actually right, to an extent. My understanding is that the SAT has a correlation with IQ of 83% which means that anyone smart enough and ambitious enough should be able to figure out how to maximise that other 17% through test prep.
I think that test prep is really great for people who are moderately, but not extremely smart. The extremely smart people don’t need it; the middling and dumb people shouldn’t be trying to get into university in the first place. The moderately smart people (IQ 115-140) have the most to gain from test prep because it’s the difference between going to a first rate school and going to Podunk State U. If you have a kid whose IQ is between 115-140, get thee to the best Asian test prep center you can find. Those places can do miracles for moderately smart kids.

@SC
140 is a pretty darn high IQ, I wouldn’t call it moderately smart. I don’t think anyone with a 125+ IQ has much problem with SATs. Other factors come into it after that. Anything 130+, is learn everything from the book, self taught, get a degree in 2 years at age 19 kind of smart. If the motivation and schedule was actually there that is.
The people who own and run the world have IQ in the range 120-140. Those with higher generally just end up working for them, if they are stable or motivated enough and like being told what to do. A lot of mensa members are bus drivers and unemployed types, or even mentally unstable, with little achievement in life. The most they achieve is being good at chequers, winning on countdown or who wants to be a millionaire lol. When it comes to success, other factors come into play.
If you think the child genius types are at the top of the economy, society or even academia in most cases. You’re sadly mistaken.

Upon graduating from high-school and studying for the end of high-school exams, I took a glance at the SAT. For fuck’s sake, people prepare for that banality of a test? LOL
Given f:R->R, f(x)=e^x(x^2-5x+7).
a)write the equation of the – infinity asymptote
b)compute the function’s extreme points
c)prove that 7<=f(x)R, f(x) is sin(x) if x=0
a)compute the integral of f(x)dx on the range -1 to 1
b)compute the volume of the body obtained through the rotation around the abscissas axis of the graphical represantion of g:[-Pi, 0] -> R, g(x)=f(x)
c)compute the limit for x going to infinity of 1/x multiplied by integral from 0 to x of f(t)dt
This is what was expected of me when I graduated from high-school, not a test that the moderately intelligent should have no problem with with little preparation. If you need preparation for the SAT, you’re not university material, unless you study for the SAT when you’re in 7-8th grade.

Tell me how that is unclear.

SATs are more an endurance test than anything. Preping is essential to get a score in the top percentiles. Advanced students specifically should take prep courses, as the material being covered is probably 3+ removed from courses they are currently taking, and they need to refresh their memory.

No, I just translated one of the exercises on a sample test that’s expected out of high-school seniors here. I have a graduate degree in economics, so I haven’t had a calculus textbook in quite a while.

I prefer discussing issues with her than my father, but that’s mostly because my father doesn’t take things as seriously and my mother reads a book a week.
Otoh, my father got her by being good at game too. My mother was cute, intelligent, her parents had way more money than my father’s parents and they were from a higher social class. Also, the boss secretary strategy leads to the kinds of social outcomes that you see in East Asia. As much as I have a high opinion on most East Asian people, one of the most important things they lack is standard deviation in IQ. The reason why Whites, Jews, and South Asians have a much larger profoundly gifted faction is because these groups mate assortatively. Nevertheless I find it unsatisfactory that they haven’t been observing for the heritability of other OCEAN* personality traits in a standardized and normed manner. Intelligence is important, but so is conscientiousness. If various ethnicities differ in their mean relative endowment of intelligence, should it surprise that they also differ in their OCEAN personality factors? My own experience tells me that the differences in Openness, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeability, Neuroticism are quite obvious.
Perhaps the Chateau’s research and science department can keep an eye open for any publications that concern this? Possibly we could supply grants to some brave but enterprising scientists who are willing to investigate this. Perhaps it’s time for a Chateau endowment for scientific studies that the rest of the Cathedral couldn’t stomach?
In my case my dad was a quite an intelligent conscientious introvert. My mom admitted herself that she was looking for a clever fellow. She might have been party-girl of her Catholic school, but finding a smart reliable workhorse to be a breadwinner was sill a legitimate objective for women of that generation going to college. Had my mother been in my own or the next generation, no doubt her biography would have been different. Hello carrousel. No doubt had my father come of age today in my generation he would have suffered the same kind of fate like his son, as a clever sweet shy guy that the ladies ignore.

au contraire, I would surmise that these credentialed types of women start looking to sperm donation to make themselves happy. This is where the iq obsession starts to become dangerous. It is likely that they will pick sperm from men they approve of and raise these children by themselves to become credentialed just like they are. So you will end up with a city with 500 children who are all half siblings of each other, all of whose mothers are trying to raise them to be just like they are. Really, I just find the whole “you can do whatever you want” movement to be so crude. All of these people chasing after credentials and then in turn trying to live vicariously through their children.

I couldn’t tell you which of my parents is more intelligent but I will say that my father would deliberately downplay any of his own achievements. That seems right. Is it now considered acceptable to casually bring up your credentials in conversation?

Sorry, what not for profit are you talking about? I notice there is a proliferation of master’s degree offerings. Pure IQ? Dad >>> Mom
Dad is the modelmaker/carpenter, movie producer, tinkerer, and 7-books-at-a-time reader. His brother is a famous physician and his sister is a school district superintendent. Paternal Grandfather was WWII soldier and later worked for the United Nations -brought them all over the world for school before they turned 18.
Mom’s side of the family has the retail clerk, the Vietnam vet ex-con auto-mechanic, a hippie arborist, an insurance salesman, a meth addict, and my mom…the painter/sculptor. She is talented and intelligent for sure, but certainly benefitted from my Dad’s family’s influence.
Really interesting part is the inheritance of traits: I got my Dad’s Nordic height, my mom’s manjaw and hair-trigger temper. Pretty sure my dominant, athletic and aggressive traits come from her…I grew up watching her flying off the handle while my dad played the role of diplomat. Had so much to unlearn about male-female dynamics. Dad’s side of the family are mellow, gentle, and educated…Mom’s side are Irish-German drinkers, fighters, jailbirds.
Anybody else have a strong achievement and dominance-trait gap between your parent’s respective bloodlines?

Question for you guys. Been reading this site a lot and so far I’m banging two chicks on and off when my gf is not around.
I like my place clean. I don’t slob, don’t leave dirty shit laying around and overall don’t enjoy messy chicks. My gf, we live seperately(thank you jesus), is like most chicks, messy. How do you not do the “woman’s work” in front of her when she’s over?
Example: I clean my dishes while I grill. After supper there is nothing to clean except one plate. I also do my laundry on weekends, sometimes she’s over when I do. When she’s over she likes to cook for me but leaves the fucking kitchen a mess. She’s of the opinion she cooks and I clean(because at her place I don’t do shit, it’s not my place and I don’t care).
How do you keep your own place cockroach free and spotless when the chick is over but you don’t want to be seen doing the “woman’s work”?
LikeLike
Contradiction saying I don’t like messy chicks but yet mine is, but, been together a while so just go with it.

There are a few ways to handle this. 1, wait until she leaves to clean. Obviously you still have to clean up after her, but she won’t see it. 2. You could leave it until one of your 3 girls cleans it (this works particularly if you do a time-reduction-effect; cite additional work hours or whatnot.) Typically option 2 leads to them wanting to become “more involved” so they invest in you as a project. It has the added benefit of making them feel useful and they’ll think that maybe they have a chance of making it permanent.
A third option, you can insist she clean up when she cooks. If she balks, don’t let her cook. I did this to break in the 2nd Mrs. Jiron. I’m a better cook and she likes it when I do, but even when I don’t cook, she still cleans the kitchen.

I’m sorry to those of you with dumb mothers, you may not be the brightest light bulb.
I dont believe intelligence is equal to high status. There are many nerds with no emotional intelligence that can’t lead a group of school children in a party. There are many less educated men who make lots of money (Bill Gates anyone). Emotional intelligence is the secret as well as plenty of ambition and motivation that’s unstoppable.
You speak of men like they are ruled by their boners. Intelligent men way up consequences of there actions. They are not as dumb as you make them out to be when a hot woman walks past. Young men haven’t learned how to master their testosterone but as they age, they can handle it as well as laughing off rejection etc.

I guess this is why Charles Murray asked about the mother and not the father and why all the smart people I know have two intelligent parents and not just an intelligent father. On the other hand, I do think it is silly for exceptional men to be confined to a single female, but this feeling is alloyed by the fact that sexual selection is crude and it selects based on what was adaptive in our caveman days, not now.
I find it funny that people assume sexual selection actually leads to eugenic choices and this assumption is mandatory for the sexual revolution the West went through. This is why people oppose the innateness of IQ and proclivities of personality: everything about Western culture rests on it, from immigration, to family formation/sex, to equality etc. Once you accept that our genes determine in large part who we are, it’s hard to justify any of those things.

First of all, Dumb Bird, you should read the article that you would cite as authoritative.
1) Anything reported in a uk source is heavily suspect to begin with.
2) The researcher is a broad, as is the writer of the article… go figger.
3) The hypothesis she’s stating is that there are supposedly more intelligence-weighted propensities in the X chromosome, and since women have two, but men only have one, offspring have a supposedly better chance of getting smarts from mom.
4) Yet even the researcher couches her findings in “if”… then concludes that if a man wants to have smart sons, he should “marry a smart woman”… which I’m guessing she imagines herself to be. :duckface
The one question I have, though, is: if the X chromosome supposedly has such a large influence on intelligence, why ain’t you dolls twice as smart as us yeggs? lzzozlzozlzozlzozlzzozlzolzozlozlozlozl

Sounds feminist, but there might actually be some truth to it. The Y chromosome carries very little info…males inherit all their X-chromosome genes from Mom. And the X chromosome is pretty big…I’m sure there are lots of IQ-coding genes on it. So I’d buy it.

IQ isn’t EVERYTHING anyways. Women are easier to lead/manipulate for a start and this applies across all levels of intelligence and education. Guys are also better at asserting themselves and make better business and salesmen. At an equal IQ level guys are still often better at making money, financial decisions, coming up with ideas and seeing through BS. They are also funnier, better writers/commentators etc
Men also tend to have more ambition, intellectual curiosity, one track mind dedication etc. There are plenty of women with sky high IQ, but it doesn’t translate to patents and nobel prizes. Or even someone you could have a decent conversation with about science technology or
Also even fairly low IQ men can have valuable talents/skills that make them “smarter” or more capable of earning money/social standing than their IQ would suggest. They make better farmers, mechanics, repair men/service engineers or technicians, electricians, builders, Heavy machinery operators, military personnel. These differences obviously apply with the sexes, but also with races. Low IQ whites being more competent than Blacks at these things also.
Not to mention the impact that character has on a society and relations. Wasn’t it Arthur Schopenhauer who theorized that breeding men of great morality and bravery/heroism with women of high intelligence would produce the most eugenic results?

As to smart women, finding one with emotional balance is the hard part.. Women tend to use their reasoning abilities as justifications for their emotional desires, looking inward rather than foreward.
In high school, I had a girlfriend who was the highest scorer on the state-wide test for seniors. I was number two in the county and she beat me my two points. Quick story that will be more entertaining once it comes out of moderation:
was feeling sad (yes, even whorefinder gets sad, especially without his daily rape), googled some of my ex’s, especially from my pre-rape-the-world, beta days.
Found one who “broke my young heart” *sniff sniff*. I was but a young buck, full of passion and beta, and had a ONS with a drunk bar slut and fell in LLOOOOVE with her because I was looking to be the white version of Captain Save-a-Ho and she was my damaged little princess.
Convinced her to date me. We dated for months, said I love you, met the families, went on vacations together, made future plans, all was beta happy and rosebuds. Both of us even talked of marriage.
Until one night she got angry at me over something inconsequential (i.e. telling her she got high too much on various substances), but she was high as a kite at the time and decided that it would be a good idea to get back at me for pissing her off for pointing out her using problem….by embarrassing me in front of her friends (and a whole bar) by yelling that she had cheated on me.
I was crushed. How could a drunk, drug-using bar-ONS be a slut? How could my worshipful, supplicating, so-understanding, beta-heart not be enough??? My beta mind boggled!
It was then the red pill begun in old whorefinder’s brain. I walked out that moment.
When I found my ex on google recently (it’s been many years), it turns out she was married. Got the feminist hyphenated last name, too.
But, instead of sadness, or regret, or anger, or wistfulness, I felt….
Pity.
not for her; once a skank always a skank.
Pity, instead, for the dude she was married to. Because there were only 3 possibilities for him to be, all of them bad:
1) he was in the beta dark about her ways, and would one day walk in to find her being banged in the shower by her colleague–in which case he was a naive beta fool whom she’d tricked into marriage, and thus the red pill would come too late to save him from divorce rape;
2) he was some kind of messed up swinger-type—and we know those dudes are always healthy, happy, stable, and not at all weak, sad, mentally-disturbed men who can’t sack up.
3) he KNEW about her sluttiness and couldn’t man up enough to leave her or stop her from cheating or join a swinger group so he could get some—meaning he was a pathetic, sad, weak man who had no self-respect and consciously rejected the red pill for misery and a slut wife.
In any of the above scenarios, this man was pitiable and sad, and I shed a tear inside for his manhood. And felt a bullet whiz by my own head. Needless to say, his life cheered me up.
Raise one for your homies, gents: those stuck in the weak beta ways whose red-pill saving might come too late, or might never come at all. There, but for the grace of God, go we all.
Sad beta rape!

I was re-reading the Gulag Archipelago by Solzhenitsyn and I found it interesting how many women were convicted for refusing to turn in their husbands, sheltering them or refusing to denounce them.
I think the ideas of women being better than us from a moral perspective stems from the fact that women are groupish and will conform to a moral framework deemed positive or negative with equal abandon. In the case of traditional societies, it’s more loyalty and submission and in the case of the West, it’s being obnoxious cunts.

One sketch of IQ is that one loses a tiny proportion of cerebral effectiveness for each of a largish number of possible genetic or developmental deficits.
The deficit fractions are multiplied rather than added; in other words, the logs of the deficit fractions are added. By the central limit theorem, this sum has a normal distribution, and therefore the product has a log-normal distribution.

Males inherit most of their (high) intelligence from their mother (there are several intelligence enhancing genes in the X chromosome) http://languagelog.ldc.upenn.edu/myl/llog/Turner1996.pdf
[CH: this finding seems suspect to me. has greg cochran chimed in? i doubt very much that smart men don’t pass on smart genes to their offspring. smells like feminist social “””science”””.]

Savors of fem-science a league off.
Yeah, if the forum hadn’t eaten my reply to Dumb Bird above when she brought up her fem-touted article, well… I don’t feel like typing the deconstruction again.
Let’s just say that if the good (ahem) researcher, after pontificating in such a cocksure manner about her findings, didn’t conclude with an “if this is true”, I would have been less skeptical.
The kicker was, as a conclusion she said… or perhaps the gal writer was projecting… and I quote: “If you want to have smart sons, marry a smart woman.”
I’m guessing both the researcher and the writer considered themselves as much. Don’t know their marital status, though. :duckface
The comedic answer: if the X chrome gots all the smart stuff, why ain’t dolls twice as brainy as us yeggs?

The majority of women are socialists. eg. 85% – 15%
A minority of men are socialists. eg. 35% – 65%
The IQ quotient fits. I’ve always wondered why the mangina/white knight/socialist men of the time were imperative proponents of woman’s suffrage? Were they hoping for a bit of pussy? How many men at the time
understood the real danger of disintegrating the West?
The Western world has been an A320 heading for the Alps ever since.

The problem is that this data fits only America and maybe Anglo countries. In my country, the difference between how men and women vote is statistically insignificant.

We are moving toward a caste system just like Latin American with nearly illiterate thug spawn and ratchet hoes at the bottom. See the movie Chapie for an example of where we will be in 10 years.

My parents have similar education levels, but I’d say my father is a little smarter. My mom, however, was always a LOT more driven in her career. She’s also a lesbian. Not sure how that ties in, if it does at all. My husband has a higher level of education than me, PhD vs. BA. I’d say we are very close in IQ except spatial intelligence, in which he’d blow me away. Our sons are very smart (150s.)

“a woman’s youth and beauty are nitroglycerin to a man’s boner. Blows it right up. A woman’s smarts? No effect. Worse for the grad school ladies, boners will sometimes wither under the droning onslaught of SMRT women”
Reminds me of an even better CH quote:
I remember this one cunt lawyer chick I dated who rhapsodized about her father on our first date:
“He’s a professor at the University of Chicago, and he’s a classical pianist. He’s played in symphonies. He’s got patents on some of his inventions.”
I believe she used the word “redoubtable” in her high praise of him. MY PENIS TUCKED ITSELF IN MY ASS CRACK.

I couldn’t figure out which of my parents is smarter so I asked my husband. He says they’re about the same. When I asked about his parents, he immediately said his dad was smarter than his mom.
My husband and I may have pretty much equal intelligence, but he tends to take more time and gain a deeper understanding of any subject he’s interested in.
As for men inheriting their intelligence from their mothers, I smell a load of feminist-academia-perpetrated BS. There are more men than women in the ranks of the highly intelligent, and women hate, hate, hate marrying down. Most really smart women aren’t marrying men who are less intelligent than they are, even if that means never getting married. So really smart men are more likely to have gotten their intelligence from their really smart dads.
Who cares where a really smart woman got her intelligence if she ends up a childless old feminist bitch. In that case, it clearly didn’t do her any good anyway.

Both of my parents were whip smart. But dad had a bit of an edge on the intellect level. Mom was an alpha female, dad a sigma male ( with periods of beta) . Dad was never real good at explaining the female sex and their wiles to me . However, both taught me to question authority and never take anything at face value. Always question. Both also taught me the evils of collectivism ( particularly Marxism) . They raised their children to be responsible and self sufficient ,street smart individuals. Couldn’t really ask for more.

CH, you seen this? Forget the editorialized “translations”–they’re mostly stupid–but this was the only copy of the full letter I could find. It speaks on this very subject, and, needless to say, didn’t go over well at Princeton. Imagine that.
