As a born and bred English Montrealer, I can’t say I’m surprised it was more English speaking (very likely Italian backgrounded) people that did this. I always had the impression that the French were far more leftoid than the Anglophones. Sort of like our own Latin Americans.

People have no idea what those who are involved in politics face, if they criticize immigration, feminism or homosexuality. I know many people who are forced to live at secret addresses because they are known as members of nationalist parties. The media hack into their cellphones and emails and bank accounts, and the police do nothing about these blatant crimes. Those targeted can’t marry their girlfriends, because then the girlfriends’ names would show up in papers and they would also lose their jobs and become targets. If they are staying with the men at all, most don’t.
People have no idea what is going on.

I grew up in martial arts and in an argument at a club I knew a chick was going to slap me. I’m an American who works in Vancouver, British Columbia. Canadians have often told me that they wished Canadian gun laws were MORE like those of the US. There is definitely an element that condemns US gun laws but there are also many who support them.
Furthermore, many of them wish that Canada had better laws to protect free speech, like the US, but you guys need to be aware that the US has some of the best protection for free speech anywhere in the world and we are the envy of many other first world countries on that front. Canada is still better than 95% of the rest of the world when it comes to free speech.

A tip to increase your punching power: Keep your trapezius down as this activates the upper fibres of the traps, which control the lifting of the arm (Note that ballerinas have huge traps. This is why.) .
Practice it on the heavy bag. Get good at body punching this way and then work up to hooks and finally move onto straight punching.
You’ll find it also gives a real firmness to your guard and makes it very hard for the opponent to lift your arms or smack them away or come over the top of them.

Principle of self defense? That was dismantled a long time ago in the USA and I assume Canada as well.
