What We Have Lost

October 6, 2015 by CH

Reader Moses links to an extraordinary website of just-released photos from 1935-1945 America, and comments:

OT – Over 100k photos of American everyday life between 1935-1945 were just released online.

http://photogrammar.yale.edu/map/

Incredible.

Observe the style, the formality, civic rituals and shared civic culture. That is the culture that built America.

It’s gone.

Street scene at 38th Street and 7th Avenue, New York City, Nov 1936.

Detroit, Michigan. Style show of clothes worn by better-dressed office workers, presented by the Chrysler Girls’ Club of the Chrysler Corporation at Saks Fifth Avenue store. Chrysler girls drinking non-alcoholic punch. 1942.

Tip Estes, Indiana hired hand, with four of his nine children. Near Fowler, Benton, Indiana. March, 1937.

Men waiting in line outside the city mission–the first twenty-five will be fed. Dubuque, Iowa, April, 1940. [ed: that’s shame and gratitude on their faces, a look we haven’t seen on America’s underprivileged in a long while.]

Housewives in Tygart Valley, West Virginia, have weekly group meetings in home economics. Here they are quilting. September, 1938. [ed: not a fatty (or single mom) in the bunch. today, west virginia has the highest obesity rate in the nation.]

Student with recreational director during basketball game. Prairie Farms, Montgomery, Alabama. 1939.

Something more tragic than nostalgia for a time in America you weren’t even alive forms a knot in the pit of your stomach.

I wonder, if late-stage decadent Romans had had access to photographs from Rome’s glorious past, would they have seen the light and done all they could to turn back before it was too late?

Reminder: What we have gained:

Anyplace, America, 2015.

Great photos, but they won’t change a thing, anymore than Roman photos would’ve changed Rome. They had something even more inspirational – the legends statues, and writings of the Roman Kingdom and Republic.

Inevitability is the essence of tragedy. It’s worst for those who can see.

Those who can see are free to PREPARE. Somebody’s gonna survive this tragedy, and it might as well be us and ours who do the surviving.

Tragedy. That’s what kills. There’s nothing we can do about it. It’s inevitable. Civilization is cyclical, and we’re on the downward side. It’s going to get much, much worse.

Moses, the key point is not that you yourself live to step into The Promised Land, but rather that you maneuver the circumstances of your children’s lives to the point that they can make it to The Promised Land even after you’re gone. We know that things are going to he11 in a handbasket, SO GET BUSY PREPARING. All of us today are descendants of “those who saw”, and who [thanks to both their gift of sight and also their true grit] were able to survive the fall of Rome and the entire Dark Ages.

Get the fuck away from shitlib cities. Move to a small town anywhere (NOT a suburb), and especially in the south. People are still friendly and have a sense of community there. Maybe not like in the 40s, but far from the nigger/tranny worshiping cities.

Most towns have a wiki that describes the climate — and most importantly — the demographics at last census. Find one highly skewed to your preferred level of diversity… easy to do. Once there you’ll feel like you left a noisy, dirty, angry mosh pit of caged animals and rediscovered civilization.

The “inevitability” was pretty noticeable by the 80s. There were articles and comedy shows about negro worship. It began with a prison tattoo culture that was used to identify gang membership. The geek kids wanted to belong to something cool too.

MT, when I moved to LA, I knew within a few days that it had been a horrible mistake – it felt like getting hit squarely the gut with squalor and amorality and purposelessness and outright Evil. And the smell of that d@mned jasmine everywhere – to this day, the smell of jasmine sickens me. It was by far the most unhappy that I’ve ever been in my life. PS: But promise me that you’ll hit up the Art History Majors at the Huntington before you leave. You could also try the Getty, but that will be a far sleazier crowd. The Huntington & greater San Marino are OLD MONEY – nothing “nouveau” like you’d get at the Getty.

Dude, I was afraid that someone was going to say that. Between the Eskimos at the Aleutian Federal Reserve printing themselves $1 TRILLION every year since 2008, and the Gook Princelings cr@pitalizing on all of the dutiful obedient slave labor in Gookland, and shipping massive container loads of that cr@p through City of Industry, 24×7, I knew that the economic landscape would have had to have changed somewhat. And I was aware that the Nogs were ghettoizing the hill country up around Altadena [which has some of the most beautiful views in all of LA], and Steve Sellout has written about how the Gooks have taken over the area around the Racetrack in Arcadia. But San Marino was a grand old town, back in the day. Very Old School. Sigh.

Mendoza, well spotted. It’s the ubiquitous flip-flops that make me feel like American society has gone over the cliff. My wife (we live in Japan; she wears skirts and stockings or tights every day of the year) can barely disguise her contempt for this and the rest of the decline in women’s dress standards. At only 5′ 4″, she would give anything to have the taller-than-5′ 6″ height and long legs that the average American woman has, but cannot understand why women with such potential let their bodies balloon up and then compound that by dressing so slovenly.

And when she talks with such Western women, they actually chide her for trying too hard! It’s as if by putting zero effort into looking feminine, such women are somehow trying to signal some hidden superiority, something so amazing about them that still attracts any man they might desire even though they dress like unemployed fat men.

Too bad that superiority, if it exists in any form at all, is so well-hidden that no man can spot it.

      Related,

We buried my deceased father’s ashes two weeks ago in Montreal’s nicest cemetery, it cost us $ 2000 for them to dig a tiny whole to put the small wooden box in it about the size of a six pack of beer, about a 20 minute job.

The cemetery employee that did that was there to do that was dressed like a construction guy.

He had working boots – untied – he was wearing dirty frumpy shorts, had a stained frumpy sweat shirt, he had a two day old beard, his hair was a mess, he looked like he got drunk the night before and slept in his clothes.

We all dressed nice as people should at a funeral and he was dressed like a bum.

I rarely use such a word but I was offended.

Sorry. Sorry for the loss and sorry for the unnecessary slope the service. I see what your talking about a lot. Places where even retarded people used to be reverential are mostly lost.

I try to recognize and reward it where I see it. It’s in our nature to care and to be ceremonial. I think people can care too much and ceremony for ceremonies sake can get out of control. But the more that nihilistic shits infiltrate things, the more you see basic oblige fall by the way.

People want it. My family is a bunch of lost feminist post modern twats. We burrried a family dog that was put down at my parents house. I made a quick ceremony out of it and burrried the thing with some dignity. They cried their twatty asses off and thanked me for making it “real.”

Did the universe give a fuck? No. But we did at the time.

No, the same goes for the Amish as for the kid-producing Orthodox Jews: many of the children leave to live in ordinary society, especially the ones with high IQs. Why should you have sex through a hole in a sheet like the Orthodox? Why should you consider sex “sinful” and electricity to be of the devil, like the Amish? It’s dumb as hell.

“But they aren’t addicted to iPhones!” So what. You can be conservative and productive and still use oh-so-evil White technology. Mankind’s future isn’t about yearning for the Stone Age but about reaching for the stars. It is about creating something and make sure that Life moves forward. Unlock the keys to the mysteries of the universe so that one day we can control the laws of nature, instead of being controlled by them. Only that way can Life live forever, only that way can we end the otherwise inevitable death of the earth far into the future. We kinda need that electricity.

It is popular to idolize farming, among people who don’t have to work as farmers. It looks good as a Return To Nature end in a novel, but in real life most people don’t like it much, and it’s not because they’re bad but because they want something more out of life. And they don’t want to listen to fanatic religious fantasies every day. “You should do it that way because this book here says so! Otherwise you’ll go to hell! Never mind that the vast majority of our faith have other interpretations!” That’s why those the Amish never increase in numbers. And that’s why ordinary Jewry never runs out of new members, since the batshit-crazy Orthodox keep supplying them.

I have always been a bit puzzled by the fact leftists make such good music,

note that I said music, not lyrics.

For example I love Rage Against the Machine’s music, but pretty much every word in their lyrics I disagree with or annoy me.

Or that song by the Dixie Chicks (the only song by them I like ) ” not ready to make nice”, the melody is great, the music is beautiful but the lyrics are about how the singer is angry that the average American disagrees with what she did ( she had said on stage before a large crowd that she was ashamed of being American and said various hateful things about conservatives )

It is a bit of a mystery (to me anyway) why the people with the worst opinions/ideas about politics, society, the military, global warming, multiculturalism, capitalism etc etc why people who are “backwards” about pretty much everything make the best music.

      Most music stars/celebrities are leftists.

They are completely wrong in what they believe in and encourage through their song lyrics, but their music is great.

      Very strange…

A lot of them aren’t leftist though. They have to bark like a dog for the executives who are straight up Marxists just like Wall Street bankers.
If you don’t public ally promote democrats you will not get any work. However, that being said Rage is major Marxists. I remember the lead guitarist recently praising socialism and how evil having money is as he walks into his mega-mansion.

At least among the classics, this phenomenon may be less pervasive. I’m only a dilettante, but White Men such as Bach, Beethoven, Wagner, and Shostakovich – men who composed for the glory of God, from love of their people, or in honor of genuine heroes – come to mind.

I know plenty of right leaning musicians of different genres that write good music, lyrics, etc. It’s TPTB that control the industry, distribution, etc., that push the narrative. Through advertising and contracts and anything else you can think of. That, in turn, determines the perceived popularity of specific genres and popular music. It’s complicated, but it isn’t. You know this stuff. Cheers

The culture is in the hands of Jews and their leftist untermenschen allies, so that’s why all the talent we are exposed to is from them– the current world setup favors them. Go to almost any other era, when the culture was in the hands of aristocrats of conservative temperament, and you’ll see a very different picture. Greece and Rome, the Catholic middle ages, the Renaissance, Elizabethan England, Louis XIV’s France. It all started to unravel with Voltaire and Rousseau (especially Rousseau), but before then virtually any artist or intellectual you could name would just laugh at the Communist bullshit we tolerate nowadays. Aristophanes was conservative for instance.

Sure they make good music, some of ’em.

But consider that only a few “artists” are allowed to (ahem) passover the obstacles it takes to get to stardom and MSM exposure.

You’d be surprised how many really talented musicians and songwriters never get to the light of day… whose material is leagues above what comes out over the airwaves, especially these days.

Actually they’re rather clever. They move to where the Scottish/Irish are already populated, so that when violence pops up they have a ready assortment of men who have a real hankering for fighting. Or rather, that’s the way they originally colonized, at least here in Ohio. No need to march the Amish men off to war when Seamus, Patrick and Angus are more than happy to indulge in a bit of blood lust.

The Amish do own and use guns to hunt, btw. I live in Ohio, you can see them out in their fields, shooting varmints or hunting for seasonal game.

And if the A&E/Netflix series “Longmire” can be believed, then the Amish are already moving into rural Wyoming. I drove clear across rural New York a few years ago, and I was shocked to see how the Amish were pushing east into Central New York, whereas I saw only ONE non-Amish white child [in a parking lot near a drug store]. Whites in Bluetopia simply are not having children anymore.

And I spent one night in a college/university town, and there were White people everywhere, but NO CHILDREN in the hotel or the restaurants or the grocery store or on the streets or anywhere. And I spent a day in a very tourist-y quaint old Whiteopia small town, maybe 50 or 75 miles west of NYC, and there were White people everywhere, but NO CHILDREN. And I stopped at another rural-ish town one night, when there was a big fireworks display, and there were White people everywhere, but NO CHILDREN. Yet there was an Amish buggy [with orange triangle], clodhopping along in the dark, heading away from the fireworks celebration, towards hearth and home.

I lived among the Amish for a number of years. They take their pacifism seriously. One family near us, a couple of drunks came in and raped the mother and 2 daughters, the father held one of the brothers down to keep him from attacking them. They had to move away quickly.

The photo above is of Mennonite women, not Amish, the Amish would never have anything but plain dresses. They don’t use buttons (too fancy) but rather pins. I can recall driving in the Mennonite area and see some girls walking ahead of us. When they could hear the sound of the approaching car those hips would go in motion. It would totally crack my wife up.

In both the Mennonite and even more so the Amish community, the inbreeding causes some interesting genetic syndromes, such as Maple Syrup Syndrome. Keep in mind, for every not-quite drooling idiot they throw, they also throw genius level individuals. I had a neighbor who fell in that category. He made mechanical thermostats for wood-burning stoves out of spring steel. I gave one to my brother when he was getting an EE degree at Purdue, he showed to the mechanical engineering faculty and described how it worked. It blew their minds that a guy with an eighth grade education could come up with something like that.

The Amish and Mennonites can be good neighbors, but as “English” you will never be accepted as one of them. My family was tolerated far more than most because we had no television, had a large family and homeschooled our children, I wore a “uniform” that was pretty plain (I got a great deal on old khaki and green uniforms and bought several dozen sets for work clothes) and my wife always wore dresses or skirts/blouses. Of course, they never saw me or my wife dressed up and the computer room was upstairs, out of sight. We heated the house with a wood-burning stove and cooked on it in winter. We always had a huge garden and kept livestock, we canned our produce and we lived pretty simple lives.

The “average” American family with various electronic gadgets seemingly attached by umbilical cords, with entertainment centers set up like family altars to the gods of Hollywood, the preoccupation with celebrities and stuff that has no impact on their lives… sending their kids to public school to be indoctrinated by the state and trained in the perversions of the PC gods, the Amish would look at such a family and shun them for good reason.

Not quite. They were persecuted in Europe, so that is why they came to the USA.

Most of the old guys are millionaires, simply by paying off a farm that increases in value – and you can easily get 6-12% return by raising animals (they have babies that grow into valuable animals as well). Pay off the mortgage, if you even have one ; live simply within your means, eat mostly organic food you grow yourself, don’t have expensive entertainments…

The problem they have is a restricted gene pool – they don’t have any foreign genes coming in, and in many communities they are already experiencing problems from the high levels of inter-relatedness. They have taken to trying to introduce young men and women from different geographical communities to each other – for this, they rent a big van and driver (it is legal to rent someone else’s car, just not drive one for your own personal use) and take tours to other communities to visit.

The Amish are hard workers where I’m from. They have successful furniture and parking covers(these are just framed roofs to protect your vehicle from the unforgiving sun of Texas).
I literally saw a 10 year old kid bust his ass like a man. Him, an old man(maybe in his 60s), and an 8 yr old who was the gopher and later holder build a parking cover. They were in and out in less than an hour and the 10 yr old was the lead man digging post holes and handling the primary framing of the structure. It was awesome to witness.

        > “Most of the old guys are millionaires…” ——— Similar to what Artisanal Toad is saying below here. I was listening to Dave Ramsey on the radio the other day, and some chick was worried that her boyfriend/fiancee had bought a truck which was too expensive, and Dave Ramsey quoted a figure to the effect that people who lapse into the lifetime rut of constantly making monthly new car payments [rather than driving each car for decades, until the car literally falls apart on them] – that those people tend to have a “time value of money” loss, over the course of their lives, of something like $5 MILLION.

Below here, Artisanal Toad is talking about building a very energy efficient homestead farm [with much of the living quarters essentially being the basement], and growing most of your own food on your property. And if you could save $500 a month in utility bills, and $250 a month in food bills, then over the course of 50 or 75 years, the time value of that money would be pretty staggering. For instance, at 50 years, with just a 3% annual return on your investment, $750 a month becomes $1 MILLION.

And we know that the Amish don’t do usury – they purchase their land in cash, they chip in and build one another’s houses for “free”, and they don’t have massively expensive agricultural equipment [like John Deere or Case or Kubota]. So almost all of the cash they earn could very well be going back into investments.

There are more than 10,000 Amish living in the Central American country of Belize:

      https://jeteliot.wordpress.com/2014/05/21/mennonites-in-belize/

“Belizeans have chocolate skin, eat plantains and rice, wear brightly-colored clothes, and live in purple and green dwellings. It’s a Caribbean world.

Within that laid-back and humid universe are the fully clothed guttural-speaking conservative Mennonites, most of whom shun electricity and modern technology. They wear identical outfits that cover the whole body, work industriously by farming, building, and engineering, and abide by their religious beliefs of the 19th century. Stern faces, blonde, and fair-skinned, they looked like German farmers from another century.

“Of Belizean as well as Mayan descent, our guide talked warmly about the Mennonites and praised the work they have done in Belize. He said they have brought agriculture to his world, putting eggs and poultry on the table that they never had before. So many vegetables they have now, he beamed. And there was no one better, he said, for helping him fix his car and building furniture. So dependable and honest, too.”

      Feminist American tourist muses:

“I pondered all this. Their beliefs and values were almost completely the opposite of my own. They razed the jungles to farm, and continue farming practices that are damaging to the environment. They breed strictly amongst their isolated community and at high rates, with no regard to population control. Men are superior in their world, and women are for tending the home and making more babies. But my philosophies, I realized, were beside the point.”

It describes what you had to wear not to be an outcast. Or you’re free to look at old pictures of cities: you’ll see that most men wore suits, regardless of their station in life.

wool is a great fabric. Unless soiled with dirt or grime, you don’t need to dry clean your suit. Just brush off with a brush, hang it correctly and occasionally steam or iron (with care not to destroy the fold of the lapel) it and you are good to go.

Dry cleaning destroys the garments and shortens the life… Do you see perhaps a pattern here?

The third photo represents nearly everything the average American men has lost in the last sixty years. Imagine a time when a man could be a hired hand yet have afford to have nine children; or just find a woman willing to have nine children. God forbid it meant living not dining out every night or owning the newest cars or that siblings had to share bedrooms and get along.

But what is really tells us what’s been lost is the expression on his face; it is not the look of a man who’s been browbeaten by years of relentless ungrateful nagging or the face of a man under siege by a hostile society. It is the look of a man exhausted by a hard day’s work, perhaps paid very little, but joyful at coming back at the end of the day to a place where he knows he will be respected and that his work to provide for a family is not in vain.

What the photo represents is the opportunity the country once offered for the working man to be the patriarch of his own household in a society that had the good sense to honor rather than persecute such men for contributing to its wellbeing.

If the Alt. Right needs a photo to represent what it’s fighting to reclaim, that one might do well.

Little realization from today… on point here.

Having lunch. a place I go to maybe twice a month, since the bartender there (a 6) told me she only works one day a week and I should come in on that day. so I avoid and stretch it out. Know she is is pinging me. So she is there.

And a new girl, another 6 skinny hipster waitress… you know… tattoos etc. So she is serving me while bartender girl is milling baout watching. all good.

Hipster girl (HG) take smy order and I can tell maybe BT said something to her or something, she seems very friendly. she comes back with my beer and does a low curtsy and a ta da hand motion as she serves me. I say “wow, nice flourish” and while she feels all smug and tittering, when she turns her back I call out to her “but I’m not going to pay extra for that”. she stops in her tracks, turns back around and gives me the OMG… then laughs and scampers off to get my meal. LOL good timing. remember it’s not what you say but also the manner and timing.

any how it’s slow so she keeps hovering over by me and we get talking. Keep negging her, she loves it. then we start talking a bit more about what she is up to (she starts), how she got arrested for DUI (lot’s of negs on that) and now rides a bike (told her I would splash her if I saw her on the road, she said I should give her a ride LOL) and is back in town after spending 6 months traveling around the west coast, some of that time hitch hiking . so you can see what I am dealing with hear. she said she started off with a guy in a van and I cold read it and say “wait so he came buy with a guitar”, she is nodding… “and some weed”… she is laughing.. She says yup you are right I quit college and then found out later he was gay… She says I’m learning.

More banter… I tell her she is trouble… she is smiling tells me I definitly need to come back and see her.

So when I am walking back it is clear… all of these hipster women are just searching. Just searching searching searching for something. And they will follow whatever signals they get that are stronger than the others (not the STRONGEST, i.e. most “right” just the more powerful than whatever is left). so if that is fucked up POZzed america culture, well they are down with that… BUT if it is you with another point of view, they will follow that fiercely.

We need to lead our women.

I’ve read a few of your posts, and I’m starting to wonder if you understand negging. It’s a tool for women with bitch-shields, in order to shake them off their pedestal. You neg the snobby HB9.

I think you are confusing playful teasing with ‘negging.’ Reading your posts is like reading a bluepill parodying a PUA. “I negged her so hard, bro, she got so wet for me.”

Playful teasing is excellent though. Bratty little sister abuse game.

[CH: right, teasing is related to negging but not the same thing. negs are supposed to have bite, like a backhanded compliment, and meant for true hotties. teasing doesn’t need to bite, but it does need to be playful and infused with a ZFG attitude so the girl knows you don’t take her too seriously.]

        Senpai noticed me!

Teasing is awesome on so many levels. I have so much fun with it. It has many depths. For example, it demonstrates that you are coming from a position of dominance, that you are secure, unfazed by her, and in a playful mood. It also shows that you can be observant and deliberately sync up, calibrate, & vibe with her a bit – and this is important – WITHOUT the beta stench of slavish conformity to what she wants.

Sentient [according to his posts] constantly runs light teasing game but I feel like there’s something missing.

Jimmy – if a neg lands in a bar and the woman laughs is it still a neg?

        See : http://whetyourwoman.com/pickup-women/mysterys-neg-theory/

The neg – while usually employed against women who you might perceive as bitchy (fail – don’t assume off the bat!) – is a form of disqualification and frame control. You are communicating she is in your frame and you are not enthralled with her appearance… not supplicating… and thereby communicating higher value…

Now what happens when you hit the girl with a standard neg, exmaple like the old “nice shoes… my grandmother has a pair just like them” or similar AND – this is the key part – she laughs and goes “OMG I know what was I thinking”?

Is it now not a neg merely because of her reaction? Or is SHE telling you in her behavior that you have communicated higher value? which is much more likely with a sub 9 woman… like what I have written about.

So perhaps you make a needless distinction between negging and teasing? Teasing is only negging that she likes.

The more important part is you are not qualifying, not supplicating and forcing her reactions to your frame, whatever you may call what you are doing. And yes as CH notes there is a blurred line between what starts as a bona fide neg and what becomes “playful teasing” because at an early point the girl is in your frame and reacting to you. Attraction has been established.

So for one thing you have refined in my mind that most of my interactions result in a girl implicitly assuming I am higher value, and quickly LOL. That is valuable, if perhaps it wasn’t your intent, so much the better.

“We need to lead our women.”

You go ahead, boss. I say let the nogs have ’em. I don’t care how slender she is, I don’t want the tattooed fag-fucking dope-smoker.

Remember that North American women are totally aberrant in the world-picture of females. Other women have their faults, but American women are a collection of faults, with vanishing exceptions. Other women are not this way. They might be harder to bang, but they won’t subject you to endless juvenile ball-busting like you’re in a Chosen-scripted comedy. You gotta keep that in mind while being so clever chasing them down the rabbit-hole of their idiocy.

I think his point was we need to be leading them -before- they become used up, tatted up, dope smoking fag hags. As in leading them in the ways of righteousness. Of course it is hard to lead women in that way and rack up a notch count, certainly not in any quantity.

I have exactly the same feelings when watching this footage from Berlin in the year 1900:

The style, the virility, the vitality, the optimism, the grandeur – contrasting this with contamporary Germany makes me really depressive.

Color film was available in the very late 19th century but it was very expensive and cutting edge technology. I have a book of Russian peasants in color photos commissioned by Czar Alexander II in 1905. Moving film in color was not yet availaable, however.

Was looking for information on my dad’s bomber crew and found an awesome photo of them in front of their B-24, along with a photo of it after a crash landing following a mission to bomb V-1 sites in France. Through the photo credits got in contact with the son of the pilot who has offered to send his dad’s memoirs on that mission. Looking through all the crew photos found this one and immediately though “what would the presence of a woman have done to this close-knit crew?”.

Did similar research recently tracing my Grand Dads campaign during WWII. Come to find he was a driver in a Churchill Crocodile Tank – a flame-throwing tank … fearsome machine – not the kind of thing that brings up the rear.

Landed D-Day +1 at Sword Beach, swept East to Caen and was near Bergen Belsen when it was liberated. I’d corresponded with his regiments archivist – the reason he was able to determine what my Grand Dad did was because there were no insignias on his uniform. Germans had issued kill-on-site orders for Crocodile crews.

Good luck with your research. If you’re not already – you’re going to be amazed.

Long-time German metal band Rammstein wrote a song called “Mein Land,” translated to My Country.

Rammstein can be mum about the meaning of their songs, but have been known to write nationalistic material, including “Mutter,” which translates to “Mother” and is a song longing about the motherland of the past. They wrote “Links 1, 2, 3, 4” and said it was a “leftist” song, but the irony is its sound, including marching boots, and how overt they were about its meaning (compared to every other song they’ve written).

Anyway, Mein Land, I believe is a very nationalistic song, and there are plenty of metaphors in this video relating to the internal destruction of Germany by immigration and multiculturalism. (Note: Leftists try to claim this song actually mocks nationalism, but it’s a weak argument.)

Furthermore, being overly nationalistic in Germany will get you imprisoned because of the country’s past, so Rammstein isn’t too literal with its material.

Lastly, they wrote a song called “Amerika” mocking multiculturalism.

Anyway, just wanted to share… At the least, you can enjoy some great music.

Is this all a story of squandered success? Like the leader in a race getting stupid and complacent?

Was the downfall baked into the success? Baked into our DNA? Both? I know much of the answer is DNA. But how much? And it it our DNA or others. As in, did get duped into failure by outside forces? Or did we self destruct mostly on our own?

Who and where do I find the best “meta”(sorry) explanation? Or what sources combine into a reasonable whole? What are the great books and thinkers that best explain the downfall?

I doubt our DNA suddenly acquired weakness after WW2, where for thousands of years previously we were unrivaled warriors, thinkers, inventors and explorers. Rome lasted for centuries with opulent wealth, so we can’t really even blame that, although clearly it can be one factor among many.

So WTF with all the Poz these days? Arms races seem to be built into nature. All nature, not just human. Maybe all weapons have become more effective. Technology enables the improvement of things. Improvement in so far as “the thing” works better, faster, stronger. We don’t blow as many things up anymore. But we’ve become bigger, faster, stronger at mucking up the works and waging silent war that most people are not aware of, only tools of.

Rome didn’t have internet, tv, radio, almost free print media, cars, buses, airplanes and all manor of inexpensive drugs.

In my darkest moments I believe that the Pozoids are the next evolution of humanity. If they win the gene war. But then you realize that they can’t maintain or build civilization, so…there it ends.

I just wish that people take care of themselves, their family, and their offspring as well as dogs and cats.

Lately I love veterinarians. They understand gender. They understand that pets act diffrent when in heat, they understand the value of maintaining a reasonable weight pet, they understand aging and it’s limits and they extrapolate that a good deal of animal behavior is an analog for humans.

Care for your pets like a world class dog trainer and everyone is happy.

Well said. I see so many people working themselves to death to provide for their kids–usually shit they themselves didn’t have growing up–when all the kid wants to do is spend time with their parents. So the parents displaces that with junk/stuff/materialism and the kid grows up thinking this is the end game, when deep down, they just want to spend time with their parents.

I cannot fault some parents that love to spoil their kid–it’d be hard not to–but balance needs to be enacted.

Children are wonderfully simple. Adults muck it all up overthinking shit.

My guess is that it was government-subsidized in some way (hence the term “project”) but whether it was outright owned by the government or not, I’m not sure.

But as you point out, based on the value of $22.50 back then, it’s clear the residents had some skin in the game. Another difference from today.

I am very confident that Old America would be the world’s leading industrial power within the decade, and I suspect it would attract a lot of immigration from New America. The seeds of decay were there, certainly, but they had hardly begun to sprout. At least by today’s standards.

Those are excellent lyrics that get to the heart of those times which were the 70s before things got weird (the 80s) and then went to hell (the 90s) and then got even worse (2000’s) and here we are yay.

I think that people are now weak and ugly simply for not working outside doing meaningful things like they were evolved to do. Basically in suburban America, 10% of the people are able to take care of themselves and resist becoming fat and ugly, and 90% are entropy and lost. The genetic quality of that 90% is not much different than it was, but the conditions of their lives has changed into post-modern un-reality or whatever and they reflect these un-natural conditions.

Of course the situation is exploited by the yenahus, but the culprit for the decay of society is easy excess energy and that’s the explanation to the extent that there is one. People for the most part are not evolved to have goals beyond their basic needs and if those needs are met well then why bother.

      ********

Why did Mellencamp use to be called Cougar? it was a nom de plume but perhaps he was not proud of his German family name. Mellencamp was a great face and when he broke on the scene in the 80s it brought us back a decade and we felt at home. Little did we know it was a last hurrah!

John Cougar Mellencamp has a better ring to it, though.

This device isn’t a spaceship, it’s a time machine. It goes backwards, and forwards… it takes us to a place where we ache to go again. It’s not called the wheel, it’s called the carousel. It let’s us travel the way a child travels – around and around, and back home again, to a place where we know are loved.”

Some observations as they pertain to clothes, but having them branch out further, as clothing, fashion, etc. , like other things, reflect a society’s or culture’s values, etc.

To one of the questions up above: back in the 1940s — which to menswear enthusiasts is the “Golden Age” of menswear (no surprise, there) — the idea of off-the-peg/ready-to-wear suits was nonexistent. You got your suit made from a tailor. Back then there was a spectrum of low to mid to high-end tailors. Nowadays the idea of going to a tailor will set you back $3k for a low to mid-tier tailor. Back then that wasn’t the case. The idea of mass producing suits didn’t arrive until much later (I think from the “genius” of Pierre Cardin, who took the idea of merchandising his name to a level only R. Lauren will later emulate). So if your suit got dirty, you brush it for regular maintenance or you took it to your local tailor for what’s called a “sponge-and-press.” Only the tailor can do that. If you tried to steam or iron your own suit, you’re liable to ruin it by flattening out all the hard work and craftsmanship the tailor put into the suit (i.e., lapel roll, canvassing, etc.). The idea of dry cleaning is foreign, and even now –it’s positively harmful to any expensive clothing you have.

It’s interesting to note that even menswear enthusiasts have latched on to this idea about the loss of decorum, standards, etc. Now most of these enthusiasts we would consider beta or “blue pill”, and their analysis stops — correctly for them — at the first level of clothing without analyzing how clothing can reflect societal values, etc.

Now they frequently argue against the prevailing idea that was launched in the 60s (which unsurprisingly coincide with the rise of feminism, free love, anti-war, existentialism, etc.) of the tyranny of the “necktie”. Now as a sartorial symbol, I don’t believe anything is more masculine (at least in the 20th century and beyond) than the necktie.

And the fight against the necktie was a fight against the old “man in the gray flannel suit”. That is, conformity, etc.

But what I find interesting and noteworthy (and I believe also written here by CH, although with a different slant) is this opposite thesis:

everyone wears a tie and coat. Stifling conformity! Death of the individual, etc.

So the pendulum swings violently the other way. Casual dress creeps in. The “suit” is rendered a metaphor for corporate dehumanization, etc. People now seek to “express their individuality” through external things (what liberal academics are likely to call with their jargon “signifiers”), such as clothes, tattoos, wild hair colour, mohawks, etc.

But the irony is (not missed by anyone here) how conforming and vapid that is. Go to the heart of San Francisco, the mecca of “individual hipsterdom” — everyone dresses the same tight jeans, the same flannel shirt; they wear the same oiled-up beard; they’re all skinny; they ride skateboards; they have tattoos and piercings; they all own apple products; they all say “like, you know, like, it was hella good that vietnamese sandwich with the liverwurst”. They all think the same and say the same dull, irritating things.

Back then — not to be nostalgic — because everyone had a baseline of respectful outer wear (e.g., shirt, tie, coat, etc.) people had to distinguish themselves by their personality (a novel concept).

I’d argue that, as an example, children aren’t diminished by wearing compulsory school uniforms; they’d actually have to develop their personalities to be individuals yet still form a cohesive community which they show by their uniforms, etc. Plus in general they look a whole lot nicer.

The beginning of the end came about with a guy named Earl Butz, secretary of Agriculture under Nixon. His message to the small family farmer was “Go big or go get a job in town.” He rearranged the ag policies to favor large farms and corporate farming in a move designed to destroy the small family farm. He got fired for saying to reporters (!) “I’ll tell you what black want: Loose shoes, tight pussy and a warm place to shit.”

Keep in mind that the farmer is the most independent SOB on the face of the earth. He depends only on God to send the rain in season and he can’t be fired for having un-PC attitudes or for saying badthink out loud. Believe it or not, small family farms that were diversified were actually quite profitable. A guy named Booker T. Whatley wrote a book called “How To Make $100,000 Farming 25 Acres” and it actually works. It was his plan to save the small black family farm, but I never heard of any black families doing it. Of the whites who took the ball and ran with it, they make plenty of money.

This is one of the reasons why homesteading is becoming more and more popular. I’ve written extensively about this, and combining an earth sheltered home (you’d call it an ‘underground house’) with a homesteading philosophy, the energy savings on the home can almost pay the mortgage compared to a “normal” home. By raising the expensive components of the diet (meats and vegetables) a family can cut upwards of 80% of their food bill. This means a husband and father could literally support his family with a dead-end job paying $12-$15 per hour. Plenty of those work from home companies pay that much.

My last blog post was on growing wild-simulated ginseng, which would allow somebody who did it right to retire after 10 years with millions of dollars worth of ginseng in the ground just getting older, bigger and more valuable as time goes by. The market is China, it’s always been China and it will always be China. Currently wild ginseng is going for upwards of $1000 per pound, dried weight. But nobody teaches this shit because when people like me try, nobody wants to listen.

I made an instructional video on how to grow wild simulated ginseng 12 years ago. Naive thing that I was, I figured it was the perfect retirement vehicle. Guess how much interest it got? None. Nada. Too much work. I’m aware that times have changed, and whereas there was a time when a guy could afford to have a family of 9 children on what he made as a hired hand (about a dollar a day), it isn’t the same any more. But that’s what I like about the underground homes. They don’t need AC because they stay cool in the summer and don’t need much heat because they stay warm in the winter. So there goes that $400+ utility bill. You can build them for $30 to $40 a square foot, so there goes the huge mortgage payment.

In fact, this kind of home is the easiest to operate off the grid because the energy demands are so low. The only problem is cops hate homes like this because they’re natural fortresses. And, seriously, if building a home like this it’s worth it to put in an escape tunnel (3′ culvert) that takes one a hundred yards away into a spot where one can E&E with ease. I’ve also seen livestock barns built this way with dusk to dawn LED lighting on the inside. The cattle can go in and stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They’re set up so a small tractor can get in and clean them out to compost the manure. Hay storage is overhead for ease of feeding in winter.

Land is still surprisingly cheap and in a lot of areas farmland isn’t being farmed and can be leased. I’ve seen numerous situations in which the old folks who owned the land allowed someone to use the land, provided they cleaned it up of all the trees growing up in the fields. Yes, it’s hard work, but nothing is easy. The bottom line is I don’t care what kind of work you do or how much money you make. When the day comes that the trucks stop rolling, if you can’t feed yourself you’d better be on really good terms with someone who can.

Artisanal, the key to surviving the coming Troubles will be access to CLEAN POTABLE WATER. If, say, the Chinese were to nuke us with EMP devices, and take out our power grid, then USA beluga whale folks would start getting dysentery and cholera long before they starved to death. Your middle-of-nowhere dream homestead has to place the water source at the very top of its priority list. There are hand pumps now which can pull water up from roughly 150-ish foot depths, but for people who have multi-horsepower electronic pumps pushing water up from the better part of 1000-ish feet, there isn’t any technology known to mankind which can get the water up to the surface in the absence of modern power. Right now, the best of the hand pumps appears to be the “Water Boy Waterbuck” [and apparently they’re working on upgrading the Waterbuck to a two man model].

If I was going to do this again, I’d be looking for a place that gave me a year-round stream with enough head and flow to give me hydroelectric generation capability. That’s the holy grail of off-grid living because it generates power 24/7 year-round. It takes maintenance and requires turbines specifically designed for the specific application, but depending on the situation, it could be perfect. Unfortunately, that’s usually expensive land because everybody wants the “a river runs through it” kind of rural living and the government really frowns on building dams across year-round streams.

The biggest threat to the US is a piece of rock on the western escarpment of a volcano called Cumbre Vieja in the Canary Islands. Check wikipedia for details. The bottom line is if that thing blew (or someone caused it to blow) the entire east coast could be pounded by a series of tidal waves for an hour or so. We’re talking about tidal waves hundreds of feet high.

In 1997 Sec. Defense Cohen was talking about the weapons that can trigger volcano’s and earthquakes, it isn’t tin-foil hat conspiracy theory. The major powers have these weapons and since nobody’s tossing nukes around and nobody believes in this stuff it’s interpreted as an act of God.

Yes, clean, potable water is important, but so is food production. The key is aquaponics, which doesn’t use a lot of electricity to get year-round food production. In good times (even though our economy is going into the toilet I’d consider this good times compared to Bosnia during their civil war) it cuts the hell out of your food bill and in bad times it feeds you. Somebody asked me to do a post on the underground house thing so I’m working on that. Built out of 6 shipping containers, it comes in at a little under 1900 square feet and costs about $30 per square foot to build. Yep, a nice house for under $60k. It would take longer but somebody with skills like mine could do a lot of the work and pick up used materials cheap and get the cost down under $20 per foot.

I did a design for a big house built out of shipping containers and concrete bridge panels, a huge one that has about 7200 square feet of floor space with a great hall 80 feet long, 36 feet wide and a ceiling 18 feet high. 2-story wall of windows across the front lights up the home all the way to the back.

Shipping containers were made to hold about 30 tons and get stacked 8 high carrying that weight. Four to five feet of dirt on top of them is nothing. If nukes ever get tossed around it’s a bomb shelter. They’re tornado proof and earthquake proof.because welding them together makes it a monolithic unit. Only problem is cops hate them because they’re natural fortresses.

The point is an underground house can be built just about anywhere and it’s not rocket science. Chopping a $450 utility bill down to $100 a month means saving over $4k a year in post-tax dollars. Setting up an aquaponics system, growing a big garden, raising chickens, rabbits, or even going full blown and having a family milk cow will cut the food budget by up to 80%. Since a family of 4-5 spends over a thousand a month on food, that’s a savings of almost 10k a year, again in post tax dollars. Any family that can chop $15k of expenses can have the wife stay at home, take care of the homestead and homeschool the kids.

This is the kind of stuff people commonly did back in the 30’s and 40’s. When the great depression hit almost 80% of the US population lived on farms, which meant they had the ability to feed themselves (hopefully). Now-days people want to get into neighborhoods with restrictive HOA covenants that prevent you from even growing a veggie garden, much less keep a flock of chickens. Sometimes I think they deserve to starve.

Some sad-hilarity for you: single mom weds black dancer, now expecting child by him:

    http://www.celebritybabyscoop.com/2015/10/06/allison-stephen-expecting

Now, the chick is cute, so it is a loss initially; but then you get to the fact that she’s a reality show whore, had a kid (white) in 2008 (parentage unknown), and is now going to have a half-human baby. It’s clear that, despite whatever her Mormon upbringing, she’s a fame whore slut and thus worthless, nothing to cry about.

Also—the black she’s marrying—- calls himself “Twitch.” No, wait, I’m sorry, it’s “tWitch.” No, seriously. He spells it like that.

    lmao.

I watched the nog way back when a gf was obsessed with the show So you Think you Can Dance (the single mom and the black were both contestants on the show). He was clearly a wannabe-player type with cheesiness on camera, but given that the audience was mostly teen girls, he got lots of cheers, especially by the whores “proving they weren’t racist.” That said, he was a good dancer by my untrained eye, but like everything the 3/5ths do, its hard to enjoy the talent when the–ahem—“person” is such a piece of crap.

Anywho, I’m sure the entire marriage will last forever, and he will never hit her, or sexually or physically abuse her white child or even their 3/5ths child. It will be bliss….with black eyes. 😀

AT, it’s almost completely unpredictable. It does help to post during off-hours, like very early in the morning. And keep the posts as short as possible. But sometimes, during peak-hours, it’s as though 10,000 posters at WordPress all hit the “Post Comment” button at the very same time, and it feels like the server [or the router in front of the server] starts discarding incoming packets which it knows that it won’t have time to absorb into its network stack, much less actually process and save into the WordPress database backend.

Excellent post! Photos don’t lie. Anyone who sees photos (or movies) of pre1968 American cannot but help notice a more civilized society than we have today. Men wore ties even at sports events, such as baseball games.

The popularity of Mad Men is a reflection that deep down we all know we have regressed as a society into a more barbarous state. People enjoyed Mad Men (especially the women) because they enjoyed seeing men dressed up, smoking, banging their secretaries, ect. I blame our decline in part on the Eskimos.

Now we all live in one big nihilistic ghetto culture. What good is a society where the violent, illiterate black athlete is now our highest ideal?

RX, Eskimo Matthew Wiener had intended Mad Men to be a form of disparagement and ridicule and humiliation of the White Man, and he and his fellow Eskimos were pretty shocked when White people instead fell love with the series. A similar thing happened with “Forrest Gump” – White people were suppose to laugh at the redneck retard simpleton, but instead they fell in love with him.

Yeah, this was my take too.

Women *love* the social restrictions and structure of pre-1960s America.

Poster Sentient wrote above how he realized that women have a deeply rooted longing to be led. When men abdicate this responsibility women gravitate towards SJW nonsense.

Re: Mad Men, I stopped watching it after a few episodes when it became clear that Weiner was using it to push SJW themes.

Looking at the 1935-45 pics reminded me of my grandparents. This was their world. I remember visiting them regularly in the 1970s. They were just like this. My grandfather never left the house without his hat. My grandmother was involved in local women’s organizations (like the Home Economics pic, not shrill Planned Parenthood crap). They stressed character, discipline and hard work.

I think you can still find vestiges of this culture in America. Wisconsin/Minnesota, parts of the South, Northern New England come to mind. There may be more I’m not familiar with.

My mother recently moved to another town in Northern New England. I was at her house and a neighbor stopped by collecting names and email addresses so everyone in the neighborhood could “get to know each other.” Then she organized a neighborhood meet and greet where everyone brought a dish.

I don’t think that kind of thing happens much anymore.

A generation that endured the Great Depression and the combat horrors of WWII wanted to shelter its kids. Big surprise there. It would be shocking if they didn’t. And for a long time we did have a holiday from history. [A good deal of Sixties-80’s debauchery was End-of-the-World nuke fears. Why not party before everything gets nuked.]

But people KNOW this modern culture is garbage. Retro stuff, fountain pens, manual typewriters, vinyl records, single track bikes, retro motorcycles, safety razors, all that speaks to a huge dissatisfaction with modern disposable culture that even trend obsessed hipsters feel. People don’t believe in Trayvon Martin, or that fraud MLK either. Who amounted to a Jimmy Swaggart who got killed.

The debauchery is a function of anonymous urban living. The Japanese are just as debauched as are even urban Muslims; Syria is an example of urbanite debauchery against 7th Century rural absolutism. Problem: no one wants to live in any great numbers in the countryside. The longer and more completely a nation is anonymous urbanized, the more debauched it becomes.

A lot of people bring up the Amish in response to these Goodbye America posts. They’re a fascinating people; my granddad owns a farm that I used to work summers on when I was in highschool, and he would hire a few Amish girls who were too young to marry on the cheap, (The oldest was 19, engaged.) so I have hands-on experience with them.

This was before I discovered the dark gospel of game so I never took a sinful roll in the hay with any of these girls, but they’re the exact opposite of modern women. They’ll do backbreaking labor, uncomplaining, for hours on end, joking and laughing around with their friends the whole time. Have you ever seen a 16-year-old girl’s face light up in sheer joy watching a butterfly flit through a garden, or popping a fresh-picked blackberry into her mouth? It melts the fucking heart. Forget about girls, that’s what real, state-of-nature human beings are like. Those traditional values are fucking excellent for suppressing the worst and bringing out the best of people.

It makes me feel like we’ve lost something absolutely vital to our humanity, and I’m not excluding myself. I’ve been desensitized to all but the most extreme pleasures; I only feel that rush when I’m riding a motorcycle at suicidal speeds, doing mind-bending drugs, or crushing the cervix of a 7+ while she calls me Daddy. As high as those highs are, the minutes that aren’t spent doing those things are empty and draining. Being able to find joy in every minute is something we, as a culture, are never going to get back in our lifetimes.

The feminist movement began in the mid 19th century. It had already been unleashed for about a century when WW2 ended. And it was just as vile in 1848 as it is today. So the war economy effect was very small if it had any. What you’re talking about is the ruling class and the deep state doing their thing with feminism in the 1970s. Using it for their aims. By then what happened in WW2 was irrelevant.

In 1880 you could not find many 18 YO girls living alone in a big city and working, paying her own way (other than perhaps prostitutes).

By 1950 it was common. This is directly because women entered the workforce in large numbers over the war years and cities grew dramatically in population.

You don’t think these freedoms and changes in social mores threw gas on the feminist fire? Feminism is just false signal hypergamy – where SHE believes SHE is the highest value mate…

A red pill truth though is your wife (and mine and all of them), while she may feel the same as you today and would swear to high heaven she wouldn’t, when push came to shove hypergamy dictates she would trade up to higher value if she needed to. At the very least she will think it even if she didn’t act on it.

Seen plenty of guys go through this very suddenly, whether through loss of a job, financial setbacks, illness or massive self-betaization…

Most guys are beta providers. Back then (1930’s – 40’s) if I a guy wanted he could more easily take a mistress… divorce was difficult, a woman had to prove up a case and have money to do so… so I guy certainly did not have to endure one woman if he didn’t want to.

If you poke around the attic of your family history, you may find that gramps or great gramps may have had a little something over in the next town, or a particular tavern girl he saw Saturday nights before he came home drunk and passed out.

And Grams just rolled with it if he wasn’t a total ass and rubbed her face in it socially.

There was less likelihood of Grams doing the same thing because she would be divorced and get nothing, unlike today where she is incentivized to engage her hypergamy and feelings…
