A part of me thinks it is because everybody else is just as aware that Le Roi wants Krupp to win the match. I sincerely think there is an inborn evolutionary element to the shitlib face and resulting decorum. On the sub-conscious level, there must be inate tactics a human will use to alert the conscious mind of potential threats in the environment…without risking death. A punch to the face is not likely fatal, though could be… But the potential reward for being punched (waking up to reality, getting tougher/stronger, etc.) is sizable to the individual’s survival, making the risk worthwhile.
