Crichton seemed to write his books around a subtle idea he was pushing as part of his fiction so that it’s message would get out. This is so with regard to the global warming propaganda which he footnoted with true scientific facts.
Rising Sun told the story, woven through the book, on how America took down the Japanese financial dominance in the 1990s. The same has happened/is happening with regard to the Chinese and their financial hegemonical goals.

I find it endlessly frustrating that our White counterparts in the UK are basically banned from applying for US citizenship. Yes, that was a very big reason too. Koeln Cathedral is indeed a magnificent building and cathedral. The whole area is a cultural center for the West, as right next door to the right as you face the camera is also a very important museum on the Ancient Roman civilization. The city was a Roman veteran’s colony and its name means colony. Prior to that, there was about another 1,500 years of pure red headed Celtic Rhineland civilization there. When Maximus was fighting those Germans with the fire balls, it was not too far from Koeln. Koeln also had a Legion based there.
The women in Koeln are nice and it is a beautiful big care free, wealthy party town that parties until seven the next morning. Carnival is four months of that straight. The old town is just past the cathedral and is full of lovely shops and Restaurants with excellent, diverse food, all easily available on foot and amidst an inspiring medieval setting. I live in Europe primarily for this connection to my past. I am pained every day when I see it spat upon and defiled. It is better than what Californians wish they had in the U.S.
Yes, the Islamists were seeing it that way as well, no doubt dreaming of pulling down the Cathedral’s spires or placing crescent moons atop the crosses.

We average about 250 people for the evening mass on Sunday. Capacity is about 2,000. Mass is held 3 times a day everyday and attendance varies between 100 and 400 people except for Christmas and Easter when they are at capacity. I always heard that Russians were “godless commies,” but that’s not the feeling I got there; most Russians seems to have a sort of “closet” Christianity going on – nothing really overt or splashy like the (crass and almost obscene, imo) fundamentalists of the U.S., but more of a reserved respect for the backdrop to the insanity of what passes for “normal” life these days that is somehow, against all odds, preserved in spite of the communists efforts to dislodge it in these oases scattered throughout the city.
As far as I can see, the Russian people and their leaders are doing a better job of managing the “peace” of the Cold War’s ending than we are. Maybe their approach to Separating church and state, instead of having church embrace the state (i.e. Neocucks) is the reason.

that isn’t true though, putin has funded the re establishment of the russian orthodox church. the two, politics and christianity are strangely mingled there, at least from what I cant tell. as an example, the church denies any wrong doing in crimea by russians. both government and church alike oppose western influence as well. I also have great admiration for the orthodox churches but it is from a distance.

While I can’t exactly put my finger on it, I do feel a revival starting the beginnings of bubbling up. I think people are slowly reaching their breaking points and in their respective ways are waking up.
Each of us will have our Road to Damscus moments and this year might accelerate that journey.

There’s a really nice Christian-Finnish village here: Moshav.Yad ha-Shmoneh. They accept volunteer labor (you get room/board/a tiny stipend), altho there’s waiting list. Excellent Scandinavian food in the dining hall. The village’s boys have quite a high rate of passing the gibush to get into the Paratroopers.
They OCCASIONALLY accept a new young couple into full membership. Also, there’s a guest house (“bed and breakfast” style)

To such an extent that attempts at excuses (police target migrants, they’re so disadvantaged) instead focus attention on how stark the problem is.
The story is a revelation on the lying narrative of the cultural/administrative elite. True attitudes under the veneer of political correctness and thought policing will some day reach a ground swell that bursts all the levees holding it in.
In public people aver one thing; if you look at private action, you see people moving to other neighbourhoods, getting their children into schools not yet gutted by left-wing multi-cultural norms, visiting camping grounds where everybody trusts each other because they know “we are the same”, demanding that facilities be built in privileged neighbourhoods for a change, complaining about how everybody populating the streets during office hours are shiftless foreigners, etcetc.
Not defending your borders is treasonous, and sooner or later people will stop experiencing feelings of magnanimity towards global humanity and start thinking about loyalty to their own tribe. Beware.

And we certainly don’t guard them with the same zeal… more’s the pity, perhaps.

mando is correct, and the NT makes it plain that God is not housed in objects and buildings, and God’s Word is ESPECIALLY stringent on not giving honor or veneration to earthly objects. The catch phrase is the foolishness of worshiping “the created, rather than the Creator”.
Whatever the Catholics of yester-century used to venerate is of little importance for the purpose of this topic, and there are no “holy sites” of Christianity beyond those of tourist interest for those who take Scripture to heart.
And as others have pointed out, Protestants are not fetishists in re relics, saints, cathedrals, etc. and make up just as important a part of modern Christendom.
This whole “holy site” mania is a product of Islam and Judaism these days… Christians, not being perfect themselves, nevertheless have progressed to understand that God is not to be limited to any city, building, statue or relic. Who can go there now and think of God? It is the most sublime cathedral. It houses the remains of the Magi. Pilgrims used to go there. It is a big deal. Read about the Hagia Sophia. One of my Christian ancestors designed and built cathedrals. There are few sights in this world more remarkable than rolling into Cologne train station and seeing that magnificent structure lit at night.

I didn’t want to point out that Cathedrals like Rheims, Worms, Mainz, Xanten,Speyer, Strassbourg, Bamberg, the Monastery at Clairveaux and dare I say Monte Cassino, are/ were far holier sites in my initial post, in case this fellow was just typically uninformed. Cologne Cathedral wasn’t finished until 1871 or so, rather late.

All major cathedrals contain relics, parts of saints, etc. Relics were generally brought back by the First Crusade from the sack of Constantinople. As a general rule, the holier the site, the more pilgrims and the more cash to make the place. So, obviously it was a very popular pilgrim destination and “one of the holiest locations in Christiandom.” My assumption is that this cathedral with 500ft towers contains significant things (magi relics). Muslims would think exactly as I am thinking, which is why they targeted Cologne Dom and would be less interested in the less ostentatious locations.

It’s a bit weird holding up a Catholic cathedral up as representing civilization, isn’t it? Sure, it’s pretty, but it’s hollow, and was party built with serf labour in the Dark Ages: partly because it wasn’t complete after more than two centuries of building, so they gave up on it it for three centuries, finally finishing it in 1880. (So much for German efficiency!)
Not that the Church as much going for it these days, either. It was Germany that first rebelled against the Catholic Church with the Protestant Reformation. The real Western values we uphold today came later, from the Enlightenment, which kicked off in France and Scotland, but Germans had much to contribute through the likes of Leibniz, Kant and Goethe. A train station is, by modern standards, more of an achievement than a cathedral.

Actually monuments like cathedrals and the pyramids were not erected through coerced labor. You should brush up on your history. Just as modern high-rise buildings that represent the best technology society can muster, the labor for such cultural monuments were prestige objects which were built with donations and inheritances, and, strangely, a lot of volunteer labor. They hired the best architects and guildsmen, and commissioned artists. This is backed up by a lot of documentation and archeology (in the case of Egypt and Phoenician monuments).
Although cathedrals are historical and do not represent the building pinnacle of modern society the way the money temples do (Banks), the roots of Western civilization go back to a variety of influences. What those values are is a complex discussion, but it is safe to say that gay rights, anti-racism, and public nudity are not the traditional core. Also safe to say that you would be hard put to find an Islamic mullah who condones the groping and bullying of women.

During recruitment process, being 6’4″, and of fit body and sound mind, I was assigned to a Military Police (MP) branch and shipped off to a remote post near Greek-Albanian border.
Our garnison with 3000 soldiers was very large, and its commander-in-chief was a fellow ethnic Serb, Liutenant Colonel (later to be General) Ratko Mladic – of the later Bosnia war/International War Crimes Hague Tribunal (in)fame. I met, and worked with, Mladic many times during those 12 months, but one particular night I overhead him talk to the Captain of my larger unit (yet another fellow Serb) in a more casual, “off record” kind of way, hearing the words (including one for the first time) that were being insta-carved into my young, impressionable mind: “Gorbachev”, “Soros”, “less than five years, if that”, “we are fucked”.
I remember getting out of that building, and looking up at the horizon seeing omnious clouds creeping in. I thought of a quote from a great Serbian writer:
“With a shriek birds flee across the black sky.
People are silent.
My blood aches from waiting.”

Less than five years later, I was at the forefront and smack middle into the first full-fledged war on the European soil since WWII. It was us against soldiers of Allah. It became hairy, really fast, with the street battles for parts of Sarajevo (Grbavica, Vraca, Otoka) among the most scariest, difficult, and absurd things a human being can undergo in life.
Within the first year I have seen enough shit from them not be fazed by anything. There was nothing off-limits to these animals; women, children, it was all same to them. When you see first hand how much genuine “no holds barred” evil your yesterday’s friends and neighbors were “suddenly” capable of, you do lose faith in humanity. Something dies in you. I was sure that these barbaric things would not be allowed to continue in Europe, in the last decade of the 20th Century. But I was wrong. I was hillariously God, damn wrong. There were things to lobby for, maps to be re-drawn, scores to settle, arms to sell, people to get rid of, unpaid bills to present, money to be made, politics to peddle, empire’s muscles to flex, new world order to order.
The violent breakup of Yugoslavia was the first taste of 21st Century future. I was fighting Jihadis’ in Europe 20+ God, damn years ago. 20+ years ago! Chew on that. Being different era, and before Internet, it’s not like many westerners knew about it, or cared about it… living in their detached bubbles. And that is one of the most dishearening things learned in liife for me; a few years later when I got out of there, and talked about those times to native Italians, Germans, Swedish, English men of my age, I was dumbfounded when I realized that instead of being supportive of the Serb patriots fighting against the onslaught of Jihadis’ most of them could care less as they were busy partying in Magaluf.

Nothing new about this behavior. Decades ago I saw the exact same thing in Paris on New Year’s Eve. A friend and I went to the Arc de Triomphe just before midnight. There’s an angled ledge all around the base about five feet off the ground so we jumped up and stood on it and watched the huge crowd.
Inside the crowd were knots of Algerians and as hapless women, mostly blondes as I recall, got near these groups they were roughly grabbed, kissed, and groped Lara Logan style. It took 15-20 minutes for the general mass of people to figure out was going on and warn off any women getting near.
The Africans were outnumbered 30/40:1 but they didn’t give a shit and it was just a good time with Western sluts as far they were concerned. So long before this current mess the French were getting to experience the downside of importing cheap third world labor.

Catholic cathedrals are usually not holy sites to Protestants. Even for Catholics the Cologne cathedral is just a church, it is not a major pilgrimage site, even if it does have a reliquary. As a poster above pointed out, the UK and the US had no problem smashing the Cologne Cathedral (and thousands of other German churches) to bits 74 years ago. Actually European Christians have a very long history of treating churches as anything but sacred ground. The Germans didn’t show any mercy to Catholic holy sites in Poland. The problem with most Muslim immigrants is not the tenets of their religion anyway – it is their low IQs and clannishness. Islam spread by appealing to society’s losers, which is why the Arab Christians in places like Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq still tend to be smarter than their Muslim neighbors.

I take this as a personal affront, as my own lineage came up in view of that Cathedral. One would think that with the Church’s dwindling numbers in Europe, that they’d be outspoken opponents of the flood of Muslims into Europe. They could use this crises as an opportunity to show that it stands with the people that helped build and spread its influence. Of course, the exact opposite is occurring. The Church (along with the major Protestant denominations) are not only not opposing the flood of Muslims into Europe but their charitable organizations actually do their part to bring them in. The Church likes to point out its role in building Western civilization but now it appears to be playing its role in the globalist game plan.
And what about European “Royalty?” Here’s another ancient institution that is doing nothing in the face of the forced integration of non-Whites into Europe. These people are supposed to be the “parents” of their nations.
If the Church and Royals wanted to, they could rally the peoples of Europe tomorrow to remove the foreign invaders, smash the (((liberal establishment))), and regain the influence that they haven’t had for hundreds of years.
It’s important to remember in the times ahead, when the foreign invaders are removed and the (((liberal establishment))) is smashed, that we remember who was on our side. Don’t forget that the European Aristocracy and the “WASP establishment” in the U.S. are just as guilty as (((anyone))) else. These people aren’t going to jump up at the last minute and pretend they were with us the whole time.
