If I compared the brain of a pit bull with that of a similar-sized border collie, I doubt if I could see the behavioral differences in the size of the amygdala or whatever. A lot of the studies purporting to show that people with degrees earn substantially more than people without them lump people who earn advanced degrees (medicine and law, for example) with those who receive only bachelor degrees. So the comparison really isn’t one of just earning a bachelor degree versus not earning one. And then there’s a question of a STEM degree versus a liberal arts one Moreover, historically people earning bachelor’s degrees were generally more capable than those who didn’t, although I suspect that this is starting to change. How much a simple bachelor’s degree is worth, especially if the cost, and especially the indebtedness, to acquire one is considered, seems to me to be quite debatable. If a person can get a good job out of high school (I know that’s hard) and has no inherent academic interest or aptitude, my suggestion is to take it. You might be able to get your employer to pick up part of the cost of further education down the road if you need it.

When people, particularly adults, commit violent crimes (ie., rape murder), I think it’s in the best interest of society to eliminate the offender. Be it execution or life in prison without parole. It’s hard to understand how pathological altruism has allowed us to create a system whereby violent offenders can EVER be expected to be rehabilitated and returned to society. It’s insane. Why would society (as a whole) believe that the offender would hold no grudge and not want to exact revenge? At the same time, I understand that people are wrongfully convicted, etc., and we can’t just lock them up and throw away the key. It amazes me how the criminal justice system has evolved in America. The entire research was bullshit because females and males have different neuro-pathways for emotions and spatial skills. Not only are men designed for spatial skills and reasoning, they have a single pathway for all emotions with far less receptors than women do. Women have an individual pathway for each emotion and millions more receptors than men do. They have inconclusive pathways that respond to spatial skills and reasoning. I am pretty sure that this would have, at some macro level, shown up on an MRI.

My mother was a highly educated, progressive, professional woman from the Northeast (in the 1940s) before she became a mother. In keeping with that, she thought that gender-neutral play toys would be a good thing to inflict on her two sons. I, being the younger. And so…when I was like 3 years old .. she gives me a stuffed Doll to play with. (I once gave a mouse to a ferret to play with; but nevermind)).
Anyway, I promptly dis-emboweled the doll with the small, soft spoon that they had felt was safe for me to be given to eat my oatmeal with.
Give a Monster Truck Toy to a 3 year old girl and she will build a nest for it. Then she will climb onto it…
