I found this interesting article on Slate.com that takes a detailed look at the immigration fight of 2013 and how Ted Cruz positioned himself at the time and what he is saying about it now. It’s a long read but worth the time. Bottom line is that Cruz is a lawyer and thinks like one. Statements by him must be taken in this context and not the way a normal person might speak. For Cruz the technicalities are everything.
