The male hand is doing one-half of a heart. I’d imagine he’s expecting the girl to form her hand similarly to make the heart, but instead she’s all “Hey, pal!”
Side note: I can never see a thumbs up as anything more than a sarcastic affirmative. When someone sends me the thumbs up emoji through text or on Facebook it reads as a “Cool story, bro” more than anything.

Looks to me like an animal trying to be rough and assert its dominance, but with its ears down in fear and with its prey not at all intimidated, it’s ears perked up observing but not running away or fighting back.
It’s a perfect analog for a beta male. Their moments of attempted dominance (if you can call it that) if there are any are always sparse and ineffectual (they’re usually whiny outbursts to everyone else) have no positive effect on their situation and do not intimidate or work on anyone else, who simply watch and gossip about him. The beta defeated by his own lackluster attempt simply perks down his ears, sulks, and goes back to his mewling self.
The biggest betas I’ve known have a tendency to act just like that. All of them will take shit from everyone, not put up even a fight and then, when a bursting point is reached, they have what they think is a ‘rebellion’ and what everyone else sees as an ‘episode’ where they often yell and scream at people in a psychotic fashion, usually receiving nothing but laughter or uncomfortable looks in response.
Their negativity when this happens will drag your mood down. They are selfish, and hanging out with people who do the above not only will ruin your day, but lower your SMV by association.

I just saw Trump on the Dr Oz show
After trump said he would put in place a health care system and that he will not let people who can not afford it die on the streets, Oz asked ; ” What about undocumented immigrants. would you let them die on the street?”
Trump without missing a beat said ( as best as I can remember/paraphrasing ) ;
” what you call undocumented immigrants – Illegal Immigrants – would not be dying on our street because they would not be in the country in the first place”
and then trump paused and stared into Oz’s eyes.
The crowd applauded.
Points for calling them illegal which is what they are, and points for reminding people illegals should not be there in the first place…and points for having managed to not have to answer if he would let them die because that was a sort of trap.
