This story had me laughing. A little boy who didn’t know any better drew a picture of his fat mom looking like a blob.
But the turning point came in February 2014 when her son Thomas proudly came home with a picture he had drawn at school.
Meryem added: “It was a family portrait with all members as stick figures except for me who he’d drawn as a round blob.
“It really upset me when I saw it but I didn’t have the heart to tell Thomas, I just went upstairs and cried.”
That, combined with an incident on holiday when Meryem couldn’t take part in activities because she was too out of breath, inspired a change.
She said: “My children called me ‘fat’ because they couldn’t fit their arms around me when giving me hugs. It was very upsetting.”
😅 Obesity destroys quality of life. Obesity kills romance dead. Obesity will not escape the merciless judgment of children. Not even a mother’s own son. A son who, by the way, has earned a Shiv of the Week accolade for his expert artistic rendering.
Can a child fat shame if he doesn’t know he’s doing it? He sure can. The shame burns the same — maybe even burns worse — when it’s unintentional. Is a fat mom going to rationalize her son’s fat shaming as “insecurity”, or as being “intimidated by strong fat women”? Will she oink in protest that her little boy isn’t a “real man” who “loves curvy women”?
Haha, no. She’ll cry herself to sleep and then, like this mom, push away from the table and lose a hundred pounds, slimming down to human form. Realtalking kids who shame without remorse can save lives.

Smoking declined because we taxed the price of a pack of cigarettes into the stratosphere and prohibited smoking almost everywhere.

This isn’t to say that denying the problem is any better than ridiculing it, but you’re mistaken if you think the latter is a workable solution to obesity.

The absolute most a pack of cigarettes cost in six dollars and change. Granted, that is overpriced (and often for the not-so-maintream packs) but it is not so much to keep someone who like a puff to buy one.

Smoking began to drop in 1964, several years after the first round of quality studies in the 1950s. The anti-smoking lobby, who are often the same shitlibs you criticize, had no justification for their punitive taxes prior to the release of this research.
Fat acceptance is probably two decades old. But that’s still a relatively short period of time, and it was preceded by close to a century of unchecked disdain for fat people. That makes sense, too. Something had to spur the fat acceptance movement into existence; you don’t encourage society to accept fatness if it’s already acceptable.
Good nutrition advice and help applying it is effective. The stigma around being fat is natural; you don’t need a federal initiative to tell men, for example, that fat girls are gross. But you know that already.

But I’m the only one who will notice that she is a mother of FOUR. In Wales, where the father is unlikely to be non-White.
I live in a prosperous corner of the West, where most are still pretty thin. But we do have WalMarts here too, and the fatties are on display. And I have my work to keep me in contact with the public.
And what I notice is that it’s the fatties who are having kids. Obesity has become an important class signifier. Fat Whites are, on average, less intelligent, more impulsive and more selfishly entitled than thin Whites. The modern, equalist welfare state causes a mismatch between their actual class, which is 70% genetic like everything important, and their imagined class.
And though it’s great that she managed to lose 10 stone, she’s passing her less less smart, more impulsive and more entitled genes on to four kids. While the svelte upper-class, the ‘impeccably emaciated women of the Upper East Side’ is thinking ‘we couldn’t possibly have a child while the stock market is like this.’

At least it isn’t a mixed family. Intelligence is not as important among women as it is among men in mate matching. It would be nice if women who can actually do men’s work (very few) mated with men of matching or greater intelligence but we don’t live in should land. We missed out this time around. So long as the genome is kept intact, we can work back around to getting it right next time. Not being over-optimistic either. I realize that if only peasants breed, we will have a peasant genome. She had the presence of mind to drop the weight amidst a fat-pedestalizing and blob-glorifying anti-culture. She might not be as bad as she seems.
