It’s pretty simple actually. The “Age of Chivalry” was primarily invented in Victorian times by female writers using pseudonyms. While some stories existed prior (Arthur legends for example), much of the content was modified during the 1860-80s and the previous versions were actually an early form of propaganda (essentially saying ‘see, we’re not so bad as all that’).
