I’m 52. Unfortunately that’s one of the levers they have against a lot of us responsible types, before it ever gets to phase torches, rope and lamp posts… or trees.
OTOH the suckers never knew when to stop, always wanting more, so I guess that’s where my dozen mags and 1000+ rounds of 5.56 come in. At least I paid off the house this year. Remind dsl me I need to buy another AR to put away for my c college freshman son. I’m proud to say he and his friends are firmly un pc and MAGA.

I’d actually had a job change a couple months ago and did a big rollover to consolidate multiple 401ks. They goofed at the time and most of my money rolled over is sitting in a cash account and not sticks/bonds. Now I’m tempted to let is it there for a while out if the market, although not pull it completely. I’d be tempted to convert a small part to gold, but even there you have to get physical possession or its meaningless. But then there’s a security problem. Dammit.
Re 5.56 vs 7.62, baby steps. In the former I do have a mix of steel core green tips and mostly lead ball. Seemed like most problem seen was the green tips over penetrating bad guys wo body armor. Also started getting some heavier hollow point varmint rounds. Geneva convention my ass, if were fighting our own at home. Even got a few boxes of tracer rounds. Might serve to set a car gas tank on fire in a pinch.

I put my 401k all in money markets. I also took the Roth option (pay taxes upfront), so I can take money out without a penalty. It might be worth taking some out for safe keeping even if you have to take a penalty. Or you might be able to get around the penalty by taking it out as a loan against your balance (interest free).

Captain, you my google, but 5.56 is plenty good on 200 pound, two legged enemies of white children. In fact, it’s downright nasty and, in some cases, better than .308 at close range. (308 will zip right through leaving two .30-inch holes without even tumbling) (308 better for 600 pound bears, of course). I’ve been obsessed with studying this issue for 4 years. Besides reading everything about it, I’ve watched every available video (which often reveals that some things that are written or taken as a given are wrong) (e.g., 2.23, even cheap bulk rounds, will zip right through auto glass and other barriers without even slowing down or being misdirected and still have tons of energy after going through).
.223/5.56 rounds will be valuable both for use and for trade. Nothing wrong with sticking to common calibers. Even 9mm and .40 handgun rounds will be very valuable and will do the jog unless you’re facing rifle-level body armor.
Plus .223 will be available and the platform for using it is lightweight, 30 and 40 round magazines are easy to find. The modern sporting rifle in .223 is just fine for an only rifle for any of us.
Telling someone to get 30 ought 6 and other macho grandpa rounds is bad advice. Sure, powerful round, but the military got it right in this case to favor light rounds so one can carry 350 rounds easily, and 55g 5.56 at 3,000 fps is nasty and will do the job. 1,250 foot pounds of energy in a light bullet that will fragment is nasty.
If the bad guys have drones and bombs, one is fucked anyway, but a modern sporting rifle with a 40 round magazine of .223 is about as good as it gets for an individual to actually hump around or keep by the bed at night.

After her detailing the litany of thought crimes Trump has not apologized for, Clinton claimed that “across the country” teachers were reporting that Muslims and children of color were being bullied. Who are the bullies, exactly? And what are the actual statistics on this claim? If you spend time in the Northeast and hang around the landed gentry you can tell their disdain for the “conservative wing” of the Republican party. How will it happen, when so many of the woke have children and a roof over their heads? Serious question. Not trolling. I spend about 18 hours a day worrying about this issue.
I think it will take a total collapse of the dollar, so that one million, not just tens of thousands, of white men are jobless and have nothing to lose.
Won’t happen as long as 85% of white men — as bad as things are — still have a job and a roof over their heads.
I fear it is a slow boil by which we are slowly turned into Brazil. Already the real unemployment rate is much higher than (((claimed))), of course, and tens of millions of white men — including fathers with innocent children — are facing homelessness. But so far these men are still among the “losers” (not judging them; I’m one of them) and probably 85% of folks are employed and/or not homeless (even if living with boomer parents).
But people are aware of the slow boil problem. Will the second amendment save the country? Remains to be seen.
I don’t think the “3%” will do anything unless and until all 3% of them are literally facing homelessness for their children.
