It’s funny cuz it’s a paler shade of true. I’ve been living in Moscow since September, but will not remain indefinitely (age is a factor). It’s much better than either London or Paris, where I’ve also lived. You see almost exclusively white people. Biggest drawback is that Russian is a highly-inflected, difficult-to-learn language, especially if you have a brain wired for English. And the winters are long and cold and dreary. But if I were a younger man, I’d definitely consider staying.

Had to leave a comment. This assertion leaves out several Asian countries such as Japan and Singapore known for their extremely low crime rates, and one Arab country, Bahrain. Small Japanese children can walk to school unattended, which would be considered child abuse in the US (and likely they’d be kidnapped, raped and murdered).

Uruguay is my back-up when this country falls. It’s the wealthiest country in SA with decent human rights; it’s secular, but with a Catholic foundation. Based on all I’ve seen, read, heard about or from the 50s, it seems to have been a very stuffy, extremely conformist era, in a way it’s not surprising the boomers rebelled against that as hard as they did.

It certainly was amongst the bourgeoisie of the 1950s. And that’s what happens when you take someone from a background of repression and give a shot at liberty: they go feral. Working class boomers were speakeasy to begin with so the reaction to liberation was less extreme; worker rot set in with the economic betrayal of the 1980s whereas middle class degeneration came with the bourgeois bohemian values of the 1960s, this middle class would grow up to be the movers and shakers of the 80s, 90s and 00s.
Anyway the boomers, particularly the middle class ones, are much like the third world feral who come from deep repression to almost no rules anymore. Social conservatism creates people without self-restraint, and perhaps no self-restraint ultimately leads back to social conservatism via a strongman. What it’s not designed for is freedom and taking responsiblity for yourself – fear of punishment and disgrace keeps the pack in line, not self-discipline although the rhetoric of self-discipline may feature heavily in social conservatism(the lady doeth protest too much).

Another important point: Because there were so few minorities, the country also didn’t absorb their beliefs or attitudes. Yes. Right now, there’s a family of beaners who moved in across the apartment complex walkway from me. These are the most pigheaded cretins I’ve ever met. Their stoop is like 10 yards away from my bedroom window. They’re so noisy there sometimes that I can hear them with 33 db earplugs in, when I’m trying to sleep at night with the window open. They think I’m being unreasonable because I don’t want to shut up my windows during the spring and fall and have to run my AC nine months out of the year (thereby jacking up my utility bill up in to the mesosphere). They also think I’m being unreasonable because I don’t politely ask them to be quiet at close to midnight on a weeknight, instead of hollering at them out the window to shut the fuck up, which is actually a lot less than they deserve. I’ve complained to management (more third world people) but they don’t give a fuck–and I haven’t complained to the police because they also don’t give a fuck (I’ve called the cops on noise violators before and that’s how I know this. This country is an Anarcho-Tyranny now and the only thing that the pigs care about is squeezing revenue out of decent white citizens like me.)
Tyler Cowen and all the other hypocritical neoliberal elitists who have foisted this onto non-elite whites such as myself, while carefully sequestering themselves from same, need to be…well, I won’t say it because it probably won’t make it past mod.

I lost my wallet from my jacket pocket in a club in Hamburg, Germany dancing with my friends in a big circle on someone’s birthday when I lived there. I didn’t realize it until I was walking home in the dawn. I went back to the bar as they were cleaning the place up. Sure enough, the bartender had it. Someone had turned it in. The informal rule is, I was told: the lucky person who finds the wallet keeps the cash, but leaves all your identity and credit cards. It was worth 45 euro to find out there is still decency in the world. That was 2007, though.

For western European nations, north and south, another big factor is the urban versus rural environments. In the big cities there’s more problems with drugs, crime, and other garbage, but once one goes into the small towns, it’s beautiful. Lots and lots of wonderful people everywhere, with incredible hospitality towards the friendly tourist that is passing through their village.

Yes. My grandparents’ village up in the mountains is pretty much diversity free. Sadly, it probably won’t last as all the young people have gone to the cities or abroad for work. I’ve been thinking more and more on this: in the age of (((information))) and travel, no one puts down roots anymore – everyone hedges their bets. Roots are VITAL. Everywhere the Globalist machine guts the countryside regions, flyover scenery and pushes us into the urban meat grinder where any issues on the homogenization process causes attrition, conflict and eventually war. We’re all becoming nomadic in pursuit of instant gratification. All would be well (maybe after a generation) if people were only allowed to live/reside, and invest their energies in the place their father was born. Visiting other places, cultures for a short space of time, fine – and then all go back home.

My daughter is doing study abroad this year.
