There is a very important point CH has mentioned in this, which needs to be reiterated. The Left is quintessentially irrational. I’ll say it again, in case it’s not getting through. Leftists are at war with reality. This is why invoking logic, facts, irrefutable proof, superlative arguments, etc., is generally futile in dealing with them. Their entire body of expression arises out of a wilful suppression of observable fact in what could be described as a mass psychosis that is fuelled by… social esteem.
They want to be popular. They want to be liked. They want to feed off Twitbook likes, friendings, and so on. That’s why they virtue-signal: to thrive on the nectar of approval. They are of the same cloth as those who vocally supported Hitler or Stalin were cut from: go-along-to-get-alongers. They have no logic-based, robustly structured, consistent argument matrix; instead, their language is rhetorical, emotive, sensual, impulsive, hysterical, accusative. But never rational.
This opens up the means to deal with them. And that is… charitable ostracisation. Sure, refute their mantras with compelling arguments; it will serve as a public testimony to their idiocy and may plant in them a seed for future recovery, but in the interim, politely cut them off. Let them know, with solemn cadences, that their views are unacceptable to you. In short, “unfriend” them.
Ridicule, Realtalk, and Rejection are the Three Rs of successfully neutering leftoids.

The Left has had a monopoly on the use of Rhetoric-slash-Ridicule to disarm their enemies, which was a choice of necessity because the Left long ago abandoned Reason as an avenue to access power. I have what could make for a great addition so long as it does not become either dogmatic or 1488 faggotry: they want emotional arguments so argue from the point of prime directive. From either end, they lose. When they want to pretend to be rational, they lose. When they want to be their usual irrational selves but sell it as “compassion” they lose. When feelings of the desire to be fair to the whole world are set in opposition to feelings of biological imperative, who wins out? You would literally get further arguing in the face of a hurricane.

I’m always asking lefties how they can claim to stand for the voiceless and the powerless yet turn their backs on THE most voiceless and powerless of all – the unborn. I also remind them of the fact that we do not tolerate the killing of our fellow creatures outside of the womb for the reasons we accept for doing so inside of it. Or at least keep it legal until we can finally trudge up to removing “disparate impact” laws and welfare, which I am sure will take longer than any of us would want. When we are able to remove the means that blacks would pay for their brood, then we remove abortion by reducing it to what it really is: a medical procedure and a case between a woman, her husband (ideally) and her doctor. I don’t dispute that Hitler had followers who shared his ostensible hatred of Bolshevism, etc., and could articulate their reasons why, but I do not believe that the vast majority of Germans were capable of doing so. Otherwise he was overreacting in the creation and maintenance of his Gestapo and other items of police state apparatus; if the masses were “convinced” Nazis rather than speculative Nazis, perhaps dissent could have been met with a much less coercive agency, such as the regular police.
I actually believe that, in any generation anywhere on earth, most people have always been go-along-to-get-alongers. So this is not something new. Only the sophistication with which this has been tapped into by our social engineering propagandists is without precedent. The mass of Germans of WW2 who supported the policies of Final Solution, euthanasia of disabled people, and other things that would appal most conservatives today were, I argue, “in specie” no different to the mass of Brits or Americans of that era. They were just subjected to a different narrative as to what constituted the socially acceptable. Or, put another way, if we had a Hitler in power in the UK (my homeland), I think most of us would have gone along to get along too. Especially the young and the female.
Beyond that, if you want to make this about Hitler apologetics, go ahead and give the lefties something to get all hot and bothered about. My aim in making my original post was to proffer a means of advancing the conservative position, not providing material to leftists to advance theirs. I am in the UK and it seems that libtards in particular are obsessed with the USA. In the Guardian just yesterday there was an article about the use of the death penalty in the USA. Why no mention of the death penalty in China, or Iran, or India or Japan? I think the reason is that the USA is perceived as being a “white” country, and white people and countries are generally held to higher standards than non-whites. There’s a word for this kind of thinking, that is to say, that one race of people is morally superior to another, but strangely enough right now I can’t think what that word is. Perhaps someone can help me out.

This post misses the point that equalism is their religion. They don’t believe in god or the bible. This is why you can’t reason with them. For the same reason Sartre called Solzhenitsyn a “dangerous element”.

No, I have not missed that point; on this occasion I was just focussing on the immediate manifestations of their mentality, not the higher causes. But since you’re mentioning higher causes, yes, their lack of a Moral Absolute, aka their disregard for / unbelief in God is close to the core of why they are as they are.

Back to the “Jay is a bitch because he used the word ‘Hitler’ in something other than a lauditory manner” argument, please recall that Holohoax knowledge is still rather arcane; only some of us are read up on it.
Everything you now know you were once ignorant of. Would you expect a North Korean to know that his country is the one with the problem, and not vice versa, when his only source of “knowledge” is the Kim propaganda machine?
Similarly, most of us were raised being told that Hitler was the bad guy; it takes a combination of good fortune and strong mental acuity to be able to conclude otherwise (well, or a Muslim upbringing, but I was assuming a more Western audience). We’ve already seen that Jay has the mental acuity part going for him—the guy’s an expat in the FSU, as well as the author of a comment that notre Monsieur Heartiste deemed worthy of quoting. Given the chance, he may yet become a significant ally. It’s far too early to write him off, let alone gang up on him.
