On this Memorial Day weekend, reading some of the “patriotic” posts various websites about remembering our “brave boys that gave all,” I can only come up with one war that was probably worth fighting, and that would be

As an extensive reader of military history, Vietnam is particularly infuriating, because we had the commies down twice but the politicians wouldn’t finish them off — the Tet Offensive pretty much ended with the Americans relentlessly outfighting, hunting down, and wiping out the entire Viet Cong at the time, and the Cambodian Offensive in 1970 came close to smashing the NVA in its new strongholds, but the politicians again halted the troops a few miles past the border. (Slightly simplified, but this is a forum post, not an article.)
As for the rest? Should have let the Confederates start their own country. Shouldn’t have been in the Philippines to begin with. Shouldn’t have gone into WW1, let the Brits negotiate a peace with Imperial Germany. Shouldn’t have gone into the WW2 in Europe, let the Germans smash the commies in the Soviet Union and the Brits negotiate a peace with Germany.

the parents aren’t innocent here. anyone who would hand their own flesh and blood over for someone else to raise has something wrong with them.
the only parents who do this are ones who are seriously flawed people. they obviously don’t have healthy parental instincts and attachments to their own offspring. that means something is not right with them and they probably shouldn’t have been parents in the first place. no healthy sane person could abandon their own children like that.
