Now we know from Comey’s submitted, written testimony exactly why the President used this odd phrasing.
The President was briefed by the FBI director when he was President-Elect about certain ugly charges circulating around about his time in Russia as a private citizen and was informed directly that the FBI knew there was no truth to them nor that there was any Trump “Russia link” being investigated.
Once President, as the lying press continued to go crazy with this fake story, he asked Comey again–now as his boss–to dispel the cloud that was hanging over his ability to do his job as a result of this typical bullshit Beltway media frenzy, and Comey refused, citing, as has been expertly noted here, a lame excuse. An exasperated Trump then told Comey he expected loyalty, i.e. to actually help his boss rather than blow smoke up his ass. Comey did nothing and allowed the press speculation to rise to an even more unbelievable level of frenzy.
The President then did this a third time, with the same result.
So, Trump fired him, and when he fired him he told Comey, and the American public, why: Because Comey had told him directly three times that there was no such investigation but had failed to tell the American public, Congress or the press this.
Good for the President.

Yesterday in Multnomah County court Jeremy Joseph Christian, the White Portland patriot who in self-defense sent a couple SJWs to the grave and put one in the ER (as he bawled for his mommy the whole way there), said he was not guilty and was only defending himself against the aggression of the mama’s boy, Micah Fletcher.
One local gaystream media affiliate, KPTV-Fox, showed his previous court appearance where Christian says something to the effect of “You call it terrorism; I call it patriotism. Die.” Obviously, the gaystream intent was to make the viewer think Christian was referring to his slashing the throat of Micah Fletcher in self-defense, but in fact Christian was referring to his First Amendment right to free speech, as is clear by the full video and transcript.
Whenever the gaystreamers edit media for the purpose of demonizing a White man (even a White-Hispanic like Jorge Zimmerman), you know they’re on the wrong side. I smell a full acquittal or even dismissal of the charges coming.

In Oregon, priors only matter for setting bail and at sentencing. The trial judge is not aware of priors and neither is the jury, unless the defendant takes the stand. If the defendant does not testify, the trial judge is made aware of priors only at the time of sentencing.
You are right that a sweet deal from the DA is less likely because priors. But the gaystream media have demonized Christian and lionized the SJWs, calling them heroes when in fact they’re idiots, so the DA faces a lot of political pressure to make a crummy offer and/or go to trial even if the evidence for self-defense is indisputable. And there is a video of the whole thing….

I just checked a few main stream media sites and it is like they did not watch the same Comey testimony I did.
Since Comey has not revealed anything new to make President Trump look bad, and in fact it is Comey who looks worse now ( he admits he leaked documents to the media ) of course the media had to spin this into something that fits their fake world of fake news to sabotage the Trump Presidency.
Trump’s lawyer is the one giving the most accurate description of what Comey said.

So Comey was the leaker after all. How is it possible that a long standing public servent who was forced by the previous administration to look the other way. The obvious answer is that one of two things are true. 1, he wasn’t previously forced to look the other way; it was voluntary… or 2, whatever the previous administration used to force him to look the other way was big enough to maintain the hold over him once the change of power took place. I’m strongly leaning toward #1 myself.

If you are right about that, there are some intersting “signatures” being left behind.
For example, when Comey was testifying this week, and he complained that Trump “demeaned me and more importantly demeaned the agency when he…” And then went and listed a few things whicih were specifically about himself.
Under your theory, that would be Comey sending signals to Trumo like “Dude, I know there is a certain stagecraft we ahve to do,, but you are going too far”
It might be purely academic and useless to talk about the details of this…but would you suppose Comey is operating with Trumps knowledge of the situation? Does Trump trust Comey? Is Comey suffering and toiling in silence?
