Maybe that was a poor explanation. Take for example Alt-Right vs Cuckservacucks. The very word “cuckservacucks” is a meta-political way of seeing the world. It’s not about GOP vs Democrats, it’s about seeing past powerful interests and seeing the way human nature actually works.
It’s no longer a 2-party system of politics. It’s not even a three party system. It’s a decentralized approach based on one or two key issues. Take two meta-issues and make a political party out of it and that will become a more effective way of influence.

These kinds of people are like strangers to me. I mean, I don’t understand their motivations and why they feel they must live these horrible little corporate lives when I am sure that they have enough money/resources to follow almost any human-sized dream.
What is their idea of fulfillment? Is it about getting money? How much money is enough to get what they want out of life?
Do they enjoy being a conduit for the instructions and plans of others? That doesn’t make them feel, well, icky?
Do they feel that if they stop hyper-consuming they will never be happy again?
Do they feel that their self worth comes from how other people think of them?
Do they think that if they are not a “boss” or don’t wear a suit or walk from cubicle to cubicle or sit in airplanes or take meetings or constantly check their messages that their lives will be meaningless?
Do they have no personal resources of self approval? Does all of their approval have to come from outside?
I have no insight into these people at all. I can’t imagine their self-talk. It must be insane.

I’m glad you posted that, Vagina Dominator, because I have often wondered about all that too. I’d like to add this: I wonder how any man who makes his living that way can achieve an erection (unless of course he’s a masochist)? I work as a humble mail room clerk/loading dock and warehouse worker for a large corporation, and often I am angry at myself for not having risen higher in life, but at least I kept my honor intact and I can hold my head up high – in fact, I do, literally, with a proud military bearing – and I achieve erections just fine!

It’s a pretty good “potboiler” type of fluff movie… A+ on aesthetics alone (Hope Lange, Stephen Boyd, Suzy Parker, et al).
If memory serves, it’s about gals entering the workforce, some looking for careers, most looking for a husband.
Joan Crawford plays a hard-boiled career woman publisher who bullies the younger, hotter, tighter gals entering the publishing firm, and at the end admits she missed out on a life of love and children, and even gives it a try with a late marriage, but returns and accepts the fact that her career is all she ever had and cared about.
She pretty much runs the firm for an old monied playboy who still thinks he has it but just embarrasses himself with the younger women for the most part.
Hope Lange is an up-and-comer and could easily go either way, becoming the new Joan Crawford or cashing it all in for a husband and white picket fence life.
Boyd is the young Turk who runs a subsidiary department and looks askance at women’s careers, mostly because he saw what it did to Crawford. He and Lange go back and forth before he finally convinces her to get serious with him.
There are some subplots about other gals getting involved with cads and going off the deep end. One winds up having her doctor fall in love with her after trying to kill herself when she finds out she’s pregnant and the rich playboy won’t make her an honest woman… go figger.
In short, some proto-feminist themes that still have to bow to traditional values, but a heavy dollop of “as long as she’s cute, her prince charming will come along and all is forgiven.”

What you say is basically true, but there are a few things that limit their power and direct their behavior. The biggest is that the game of expansion is over. Anyone who wants to be a great lord in coming days will have to settle for being a regional warlord. There is a sandbox. It is a certain size. That is where they have to play.
But I don’t think this global thing is going to work out. The sandbox will soon shrink very fast.
Anyway, whatever the restrictions, their one over-riding goal is to get their hands on the levers of control and be the lord of everything and they certainly don’t care what they destroy while they are at it. Of course, this is not just their fault. We have the leaders we deserve.
Why do I say we have the leaders we deserve? Because we have already faced the test of being decent followers and have failed. We – and our leaders – were decisively tested in the 1970s by their response to peak US oil and the Limits to Growth Report (which has proven to be prophetic).
Population at the time was about 2.5 billion. The only course that could have avoided the long term disaster we are now looking at would have been for the world to retrench, got to zero population growth, ZPG (the older men here will remember it was a popular acronym back in the 1970s), and look at long term re-skilling of the population.
But that plan faced the big problem of human nature. Any agreement to consume less or ration would always go the way of all such agreements: there would be cheating at every level from the individual through to nations. Cheating between nations would inevitably lead to the usual resource-competition solutions: war, war, war, revolution, famine, more war, and epidemic disease.
Reskilling would necessarily mean de-urbanization and re-agriculturization. Cambodia soon gave a little rehearsal for that that indicated that would be a very messy process.
It would be messy because it would have been impossible to do without force. Why? Because people are stupid, selfish, and lazy. If the President went on TV (as Jimmy Carter kind of did) and explained that the age of energy-driven modernity was now mortally resource constrained (in a long perspective, over say a few decades) and that present generations would have to painfully remake society for the sake of future human generations, how would the average person have reacted?
Denial. Denial. Denial. Political manouveurings. Messenger-shooting. Recriminations. Last-minute trying to grab whatever they could. Chaos in the streets. Civil disobedience. Riot. Overthrow,
And other nations and people would happily have encouraged and exploited the chaos that would have arisen in any country where the leadership was silly enough to tell its population the truth because – as a side benefit – that chaos would have reduced the consumption of that country and thereby left more for the other countries to consume.
Seeing all of this, and understanding human nature, and being above all REALISTS, the world’s governing elites concluded that there was nothing to be done. Like yeast devouring sugar in a jar, humanity would eat and eat and eat until all of the world’s resources were depleted to the point of die-off.
So what did the elites decide to do instead? They decided to run out the clock. And the only way to do that was to put the pedal to the metal and bring every resource for growth online in a final magnificent push: fiat monies, massive population expansion (tripled in 50years), bringing China and her consumers online, massive credit expansion, ending barriers to trade of any kind, profligate govt spending, and mass immigration.
It was not going to solve the problem, but it would stave off the final collapse by a few decades. And – cross fingers – who knows, maybe something would turn up and save us. Like aliens.
Only the Japanese – working towards homogeneous population degrowth – have done anything positive about the problem over that time.
Anyway, degrowth will come elsewhere too, but not in a slow and orderly way.
