Like many of the precepts discussed here at the Château, I’d recognized the “women invite” phenomenon years ago, but couldn’t understand it nor put it into a framework.
What first tipped me off is that in my 20s I noticed that women always invited strangers to join in some sort of social event or interaction. You and your friends decide to meet up for drinks one night – leave it to some girl in the group to invite some guy or guys (and sometimes other girlz) unknown quantities – to your event. The inviting would snowball and by the end of the night you’re sitting at a table in the pub with a bunch of people you don’t know – some of whom move on the girlz in the group. Annoying as hell. Guys never did this – they liked a tight knit gathering – as do I.
Or, in a professional setting, you’ve made plans to have coffee or lunch with a woman. The two of you are walking to your destination and – lo and behold -OMG! she runs into someone she knows (whom you may or may not know) and proceeds to ask them to come along.
I could list many more examples but I think you get the point.

I guess there’s rapists, and there’s rapists. The former USA Gymnastics doctor I mentioned the other day in a comment got more time in prison. When I was deployed to Kuwait, I saw a scene like this x3. It so happens the base I was deployed to had a swimming pool.
