To his point, the Gotcha Pregnancy looms large as a devastating life-changing menace in the male imagination, but it’s an overblown threat that I have noticed appeals to two kinds of men: lsmv omegas who have little chance of convincing any woman to have sex with them, let alone bear their children, and wealthy hsmv alphas who have real reason to fear a mistress or lover snagging them into a lifetime of indentured servitude.
The latter group of men have to be careful which women they choose for trysts, because the gotcha pregnancy risk isn’t overblown for them. This maybe explains why so many wealthy alphas turn to escort services for fun when they could get the chicks for free at the local bar: the pros are paid up front and have an incentive to keep their bodies in a forever pre-preggers state.
The former group, the omegas, have nothing to fear, but they are egoistically comforted by the idea that they are threatened by sexually rapacious women who want to steal their disfigured seed and their non-existent resources.
In reality, the gotcha pregnancy is a rare event if you are minimally selective in which women you choose to bang and romance. I think you´re seriously underestimating the risk here. I have two male friends who were both hit by gotcha pregnancies when they weren´t expecting it, and it totally changed the course of their lives. I think many men employ a sexual strategy which involves having one standard for girlfriends, and a second, lower standard for short term hookups. For the second category, the gotcha pregnancy is a real risk. It´s hard to overstate just what a blow it is if you are not interested in having children, or not interested in having children with that woman. It completey hijacks your life, and forces you into a compulsory relationship for the next 18+ years with a woman you were possibly just slumming it with for a few nights. As someone with a supremely cynical and critical view of female nature, I find it inexplicable that you would dismiss this very real threat so cavalierly. Women employ this all the time in the real world, and many a men have been chained to lower status women and forced to abandon their dreams. Your strategy of just trusting women and hoping they won´t do this is foolhardy. Men should take serious precaucions against this common threat.

1) the CHANCE that someone uses a gotcha prego on you which can be very small or large depending on various factors (and how you handle them) and…
2) The IMPACT one of these pregnancies can have on your life.
Is a 2% chance of one of these worth 100% destroying your dreams? Risk management 101.
I think the risk equation (like other said above) is :The delta in SMV + the delta in resources generated. The larger this number, the more risk adverse you should be.

My problem with considering abortion such a disqualifier was that, when a surprise pregnancy occur (gotcha, or genuine accident – pill is not as common as it once was, and for excellent reasons…), abortion may be requested by the guy. Do you prefer a girl that comply, or decide to keep it because, hey, it’s her body, you don’t have to decide anything (but still have to pay child support)?

I know genuine Alpha blogs and Alphas have a near-daily need to describe how wretched and pitiful omegas are (it oddly seems to oddly comfort them — but what am I thinking? Alphas needn’t any comfort… or do they).
However, a resource-deficient Omega, or Delta, or Epsilon, or Theta, can still behold women behave as resource-extracting machines and be dismated at the sight, and feel existentially, if not materially, threatened?
You need not have resources to protect for you to feel very sick at exploit-machines approaching you, or even replying to your approaches by tacitly manifesting their purposes.
So, CH, the “odd comfort” angle is there too — but it is one of a few.
