In Poland, drinking is illegal on streets, squares, in parks, on public transport, as well as other areas designated by municipal authorities under penalty of fine. Actually they have also blended in well. I hear Russian spoken all the time here. White people of all stripes who speak German are now viewed with almost a sense of relief, especially if you have white babies. A few of the families in my building are Russian. The family above us is and the husband drives a Porsche SUV and a BMW SUV. They have two very nice children as well. Russians are also not pussified as Germans have become and they are afraid of the masculinity and attitude of Russians rubbing off on their own men. This scene could easily have been in my city. Mini Coopers can be very fast depending on the engine. It is also a low center of gravity wide wheel base car. BMW got the idea to market them again because they became a popular old car from the 60s and 70s to soup up. Of all the Euro people’s coupes from the mid 60s- Fiat 500, VW Beetle, Renault 4 or 2 CV, the Mini was by far the best of them and was never sold in the US to my knowledge.

When I was living in Europe, I noticed the difference between Germans and Italians in the way they approached unwritten rules. The Germans would enforce them and the Italians would renegotiate them.
I remember being in a large German post office talking with a friend and about to walk through left hand side of a double door. A German woman sprinted toward the door, blocked it, and angrily commanded “Rechts ins, Links aus”.
On the other hand, I was in Italy shopping at a supermarket and one of the two cashier lines closed. Having spent a lot of time in Germany, I expected that the people in the shut down line would have dutifully and dejectedly filed to the end of the line for the open cashier.
What happened, though, was that the people in the closed line started negotiating their position in the open line, saying things like “Wait, I was here before you, so you should let me cut in front of you”. In short order people worked out the situation and the two lines zippered into one.
You can see that while the German way of doing things works more efficiently when everyone is on board with the rules, the Italian way is more robust in a society where a significant number of people are inclined to skirt the rules.
And: it’s only a matter of time when the Germans start getting more aggressive with non-compliance as they watch their high-trust society devolve. This should be clear to anyone who has noticed the difference between how Germans behave at home versus abroad where, in their eyes, no one seems to follow any rules at all.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I got the feeling that the English guy is the cucky hall monitor type. I got busted on the subway recently for drinking, so if I see someone with an open bottle or can that seems alright I’ll tell them to watch out because they could get a ticket like I did. They usually thank me for looking out. In the end, though, I don’t care if they drink.
But the English guy here seems to be telling him to follow the rules or else he’ll tattle to teacher and get a gold star. I honestly didn’t see the conversation turning in the direction it did with the immigrant talk.
And like someone else said, this definitely sounds like it could have been staged based on how loud and perfect it was. In London there are ads on the subways that warn that you could be thrown in jail for using racist language. So that post made me wonder if this is some kind of performance thing to show the dangers of speaking your mind (Or rather, speaking your mind in ways that the State disagrees with).

Media never released a description of those involved, and it was soon dropped.
