No manjaws, no tats, no blue hair, BMIs under 23 and glowing with feminine energy. These photos of Olde America are painful to look at, knowing how much we have lost since then.
Idle thought: how much influence does photography have on cultural continuity? Will photographs save America from the fates of other empires? When Rome was declining, Romans didn’t have photos of Olde Rome to remind them of what they were losing. They had myths, fading generational memories, and sculpture, but if they had photos would they have evaded their collapse?
If we had no mid-century photos, would we have forgotten by now what American women, and America, used to be? Would we be able to fondly, vividly, and instantly recall that America was once a shining titty on a hill?
Because we have photos and can look back at a better America, will it be the secret ingredient so many others before us were missing, that steels our hearts to save a dying nation? I wonder.
***
A reader writes,
Roman homes were full of busts and death masks of forebears which were worn at festivals and funerals. These and all sculptures painted to look lifelike. Oral family tradition strong. Household gods worshipped for a thousand years before Rome. The collapse took a long, long time.
But those were death masks. Ancestors captured in plaster and marble, stiff and quasi-monstrous in their facsimile. Today, we have photos, qualitatively different. We can see bygone America alive and happy and flush with confidence. The hit right to the feels is more visceral.
***
Another reader,
The question is how well does it compete with the shitlib infested media and education monstrosities that attack the culture.
I like to think a faded photo of one smiling, height-weight proportionate 1950s woman can sweep away the lies of a million hate Whitey opinion pieces by our enemies.
***
Another reader,
the marble statues and architecture gave them a false sense of permanence
Yes, ironically those statues might have had the opposite effect on Romans than what was intended: made them complacent instead of feeling the urgency of the loss.

Good Gosh a Mighty. That could be my grandmother.

Hell no, old photos won’t “save America”! Photos depend on context, which is owned by the left in this self-hating culture. Do you realize that Joe and Sue Normie have been programmed to regard such “Pleasantville” images as the shiny-candy veneer concealing great evil and indoctrination and oppression? The 1950s is a curse word. White supremacy! After taking those pictures, they go home and beat their wives and molest their kids!
The photos per se must be regarded as neutral. Context is crucial. I don’t mean to say that the eternal, objective aesthetic of these nostalgic pictures does not seep through and convince the soul to some degree, only that we are well past the stage of relying on it to save us. “Beauty itself doth of itself persuade / The eyes of men without orator” (Shakespeare, Rape of Lucrece). But do not underestimate the power of the resentment of the ugly and their machinations! They sneer ten-times harder than your aesthetic gratitude.
If we do not forcibly take back the cultural context — by uncucked artistry and imagination — the left will continue its dictatorship of the mind by saying, “Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?” and backing it up with real power. Eighty per cent will go along with the least painful path, the herded sheep of wicked shepherds.
The best first move is for Pareto’s 20% to stand up and announce that, despite the shitstorm from the ugly (DT’s “losers”), it is fine to express one’s love for the beautiful. Hence the success of that tiptoe into righteousness: It’s okay to be white.

Au contraire. Pardon my French. Someone should start a kickstarter and use it to purchase a whole collection of 1950s or 1960s mags. If you know some old guys with old magazines lying around in the attic, then get them and scan as many old photos of Heritage America as disk space allows. Save it for posterity, post some on the Alt-Right websites and show the World who America WAS and CAN BE AGAIN.
These are the crazy times. The weak try to get the strong to follow them. The deviants and freaks feel safe to corrupt the innocent and criticize the sane. The inmates are running the asylums. But what cannot go on, will not go on. The House of Cards MUST FALL. Its not a question of if, but WHEN.
What was ours before, will be ours again. Those strong men who still live amongst us, must drop their fears. They must stop being nice and stand up to the infirm, immoral and insane. Its time. The veterans must get over it and FIGHT FOR WHAT THEY CAN GET. Those who will not fight will DIE anyway. There is no such thing as “peace”. Those who will not fight, will lose everything. Even if they still have life, it will be a Hell on Earth.
Fuck “imaging”. We have the images we need. Get them from the attics and basements. Start a kickstarter to buy them on ebay. We have the imaging already. Gather it and SHOW THE WORLD. Build the Strength to Fight.

There is a hilarious meme going around that uses a 1950s Heartland America photo of a man, his wife and 2 lil blonde kids as the punchline.
Scenes from Fifty Shades of Grey:
Man: “My desires are somewhat … unconventional”.
Girl: “So show me.”
Man moves to reveal (in the original, I guess the torture room?)
Last frame: Heartland America.

I’d say it can have an impact, but all about presentation and delivery.
This reminds me of a girl that worked with us briefly. Nice and thin, somewhat feminine, but an “ehh” kind of face. She was sweet. She told me that her friends would have Mad Men parties and would dress up in that era: men in suits, slack; women in dresses, skirts. I thought that was a great idea.
When she said that, I had no doubt that the women enjoyed dressing as such and probably enjoyed being in a submissive or at least more lady-like demeanor.

Lovely looking women and I am sure just as lovely to relate to as well. In Europe women like these are the norm and any obese/badly dressed women are likely to be British or American, granted their attitudes may be somewhat damaged by feminism but their general demeanour is still largely pleasant. America and to an extent as well Britain really need to get their act together and sort out the general attitudes and outward appearance of their women, even the folks on Buzzfeed would have a hard time convincing themselves that women like those in the picture above are “oppressed and miserable”

Thankfully those brave men depicted in that statue were willing to leave their wives and children behind and pay the ultimate sacrifice so that the American military could occupy that small island 1000 miles from anywhere for a few years. Those brave heroes were willing to fight to the death to win a diversionary war in the Pacific whose only purpose was to justify the US intervening on behalf of the poor victimized oppresed Jews in Europe. Another medium: film. I don’t mean archival or historic in mind, but feature films from the past several decades in HD quality. You can rewatch just about any 80s movie with “what was lost” in mind. I happen to have recently seen 1980 ‘Midnight Madness.” Madcap comedy sort of thing, still funny after I first saw it at 13. In this case, point being the landscape that was ALL WHITE. Girls looking relaxed, not puffin up into those ridiculous vamp affectations.
We also just watched is “Little Nicholas” series from France. Set in the 1950s, filmed ten years ago, and very convincingly in terms of historic sensibility (all-White cast and extras, 100%). Watching it with an eye of Landscape Lost, you recall that boys aged 8 could run around in derelict urban lots in packs of French, in this case kids who absolutely owned everything under the sun in their world. (Highly recommended for boys, available subtitled on DVD, also dubbed in may languages).
You come away from those movies with an understanding that there is no requirement to compromise with Diversity. Once the means are in place, we want all of our land back, all of them gone.

+1 I was watching some teen angst flick from the 80s maybe one of the many John Hughes movies and it was some party scene. W H I T E, wall to wall with the 80s cheese dance and clothes and I was bitterly envious of that past era.
My lady friend who isn’t even American and is in fact fresh off the boat with the thick accent commented how much more she enjoyed “classic” films (50s-80s) being classic in her mind. Because? White people. Class, grace, poise, femininity. These sea slugs walking around today are an alien concept to her mind that didn’t grow up drinking the poison nectar of the tribe.

I don’t know. This carries the whiff of nostalgia, of conservative shut-ins lamenting “what used to be” in an apartment redolent of decades of farts. Relying on the past for inspiration enervates as much as it energizes, it’s a wash.
We need imagination that brings this world, the here and now, into a recognizable, achievable ideal, a plausible tomorrow rather than the revivification of yesterday. Something alive rather than dead. Forward momentum is the permanent cultural advantage the left has over us, while we are constantly tempted, by our reverence for the past, to be burdened/retarded by it. We turn to the dead for their hard-earned, cumulative wisdom, the lessons learned by billions of man-years of experience. But we cannot rely on them for vitality.
Only artistry can give ancient wisdom a present vitality without contradicting itself. The fusion is poetical, not prosaic (betamale) or polemical (cucky). The flesh and blood of a young woman as this season’s fruit, ripe only briefly, and the produce of roots that extend deep into the earth for miles and eons. A young man within whom all his progenitors remain alive, shot through with the strength of living tradition, the wisdom of his forbears distilled to instinct.

Yes. The takeaway is not nostalgia but an illustration of what’s normal. Someone under the age of 12 who sees a White Landscape in one of the films I mentioned above will feel that he likes something about it, even if no words are spoken. It will contrast with the clown world he’s grown up in.
Unlike antiquated relics from the past, those HD films feel contemporary, so they do displace an unhealthy conception of “normal” with something aspirational.

wouldn’t the responsible thing to do be to show kids under twelve EVERYTHING that was “normal” for that era, so that they can make clear decisions on what the trade-offs are for different societal models?
getting what basically amounted to being kidnapped by the state to go off and kill/be killed was also “normal” for that era. shouldn’t we also show photos of how idyllic THAT part of life was?
shouldn’t we also show them how this fits into the overall time scale of human civilization, and how everything encapsulated in this so-called American golden era was literally just a blip in time? wouldn’t that help kids understand just how much of a commitment building a thriving civilization is, and that it isn’t just a matter of clicking on old photos? like, you might have to make choices today that may not fully bear fruit for 3-4 generations from now?

If you show a 12 year old boy the opening scene from Private Ryan, he’ll think it’s awesome. Boys LIKE depictions of war, as long as those depictions aren’t past their gore-tolerance threshhold. Boys playact war and combat. It’s the male instinct.
You are making a heavyhanded tangent to my point anyway. Film and literature that shows boys’ life in an environment of freedom, traditional family structure, and natural European aesthetic provide a counterpoint to the brown water he’s been swimming in since birth.

The AltRight is future oriented. You notice it when interacting with a (non-jewish) liberal, whose amygdala is firing off wildly between healthy instinct and anti-racist narratives of yesteryear. Paraphrased from what one such liberal actually emoted with to me:
“Yes I agree with you that mestizos hate my daughter and would destroy her the moment they had the institutional power to do so they are hard workers so fuck you bigot!”
The ontological Future had been captured by Marxists for over a century and there is a reason for it: they eschew the eternal constants that comprise human nature, for the sake of progress. The AltRight, instead, promotes the harmony of the elements of our future-oriented imagination from those things, that are human (European) constants.
The liberal aesthetic, which has had a near-absolute dominion on our public space over the past decade, does violence to those natural constants.

I’m not talking about war. I’m talking about being forced to fight for your enemies. that was part and parcel of life back then. young men need to be taught the difference between the glory and fun of fighting for their own people vs the false glory (though still fun) of doing it for people who hate you.
they also need to be taught the importance and masculinity of independent thought, and of not going along with the herd.
they would also do well to understand all of the social dynamics that go into producing available, attractive, single young women who are ripe for M@RRIAGE. not for the ONS or fapping to, but a lifelong commitment to ONE WOMAN, for 50-60 years.
“You are making a heavyhanded tangent to my point anyway. Film and literature that shows boys’ life in an environment of freedom, traditional family structure, and natural European aesthetic provide a counterpoint to the brown water he’s been swimming in since birth.”
my point is that that “freedom” did not exist in a vacuum. in order to earn that “freedom” one was required to also pay the ultimate sacrifice when called upon. should we only show the “freedom” aspect but not the slightly exorbitant price tag? I think smart young men would like to make an informed decision.
the counterpoint that is needed is that of knowledge, self-discipline, and accountability over immediate gratification. THAT is the lesson of that era that needs to be taken and improved upon. we’re swimming in brown sludge because people sold their souls in all kinds of ways. people were passive, weak. people didn’t want to go against the herd. people took their “freedom” for granted while letting others control the narrative. boys need to know that true freedom comes with the true price of being proactive about controlling the narrative.
we didn’t have enough knowledge then or enough self-discipline, which is why fantasizing about going back to that preposterously brief era is ridiculous. it was a protective bubble. is the goal to recreate that bubble, so that those living inside it are as naive and ill-prepared to withstand the onslaughts of the civilization wreckers as those living inside the Golden Era Bubble were then? build-up, collapse, repeat all over again? no thanks.

PJ, the draft is the school of a nation. I am a big proponent of a draft myself. We just need to focus on national defense as Switzerland does. Then it is a networking and fitness platform second to none for the nation. Everybody gets to know one another. Everybody learns to shoot and live a strenuous outdoors life for a few weeks or months a year and is forced to learn to work together. Trav could be teaching a team of men BJJ or another martial art that is less gay, for instance and they would learn it for free. A welder works with engineers or real estate agents and classism is kept to a minimum as a result. The manpower pool could be used to repair roads, parks, take care of the elderly whatever and a military caste is avoided as well as the current contempt for the working man we now have. Rome didn’t go bankrupt until you replaced the Senators who financed their own offices for professional bureaucrats who had to be paid from tax revenue. The early legions had to self finance too.
When the banker has to rub shoulders with a plumber to remove a vehicle from a ditch, all benefit from the common experience and most important of all the mutual respect that comes with it. Business contacts emerge from this and so do businesses. That is the single most important lesson I took away from my time in the military. Our military now has become entitled and expensive beyond belief and despite what they cry about, is lavishly well paid and has become an affirmative action vehicle.
Whether you realize it or not, the usual suspects got us involved in WWII as well by financing Adolf and setting him up against Stalin. Start looking at how many money changers worked in key positions in the Rosenfeld administration for starters.

CD, I agree. we need the draft as a means of affirming and teaching national identity, values, personal sacrifice and skill, as well as for national defense. I’d even be in favor of ongoing part time civil service being required for life.
what we don’t need is the deal with the devil that we had before, where we tentatively agreed to fight our enemies’ wars as the going price of having a relatively comfortable life afterwards, if we were lucky enough to make it out alive.

Watched two movies recently that both stood out:
Meatballs (1979). Bill Murray. Dem1graphically as described. Bunch of kids having fun. It’s like a make-believe fantasyland. I’ve never once in my life yearned for the 1970’s, my least favorite decade. Suddenly it looks wonderful.
Back To School (1986). Rodney Dangerfield. Working class kid grows up to be rich through hard work. That’s enough for the movie to be sh1tcanned today, but that’s not what stood out. Early in the movie, the antagonist (blond handsome diver kid) is ready to chew out the protagonist’s son (dark and moody guy). Moody is on the phone with Dad. Blondie is seething about his locker not getting cleaned by the towel-boy. So he waits patiently for Moody to get off the phone, then chews him out. You’ll never see that kind of inferred respect by an antagonist in a modern movie.

These pictures serve to display aesthetics which are as or more important than policy.
For example the reason the NDSAP regime has so much real estate in peoples minds despite being 80 years old and failing after what a decade or so is its distinctive look and feel as much as its policies, most of whom were left wing and idiotic to boot.
After you have the emotions locked in you can push policy which is economically nationalist not Neo Con and its socially Conservative circa 1950 or earlier not current year if anyone is wondering
Conservatives being tone deaf and symbol blind to a high degree blather on and on about abstract bull and economics and whatever defunct economist is their deity, you know the dork who thinks he bring people in with Milton Freidman or worse Austrian school drek needs to let the adults be in charge

I’m all for the corrective, brother. Extremely corrupt times require extreme counterbalances.
But your flaw is the inability to modulate. Leaders inspire the complacent to overturn the status quo, but they don’t leave the mob to their unchecked passions, even if they are righteously earned. That’s how “revolutions eat their own.” They unleash monsters that destroy everything, including the entire purpose they were unleashed in the first place.
Be a leader. Don’t bemoan how injustices aren’t being corrected fast enough, how our commitment isn’t pure enough, how the leaders who do put themselves out there aren’t strong enough. We are crooked timber. Take the long view, because the mob won’t (and can’t). You have to be five steps ahead of not just the jew but of your own people, especially if they are a fiercely willful people like ours. What does it profit a race if it gains the whole world but loses its people?
Don’t speak, act in such a way that demonstrates to those who would follow you the narrow path between the Scylla and Charybdis of capitulation and suicide bombing. Leaders ask for sacrifice, but never pointless sacrifice, never catharsis in lieu of winning. Losers only want to emote, they don’t mind losing with dignity and fine with moral victories, so long as they can scream romantically at the sky. Winners modulate their emotions and plot for real gains.

Odysseus was the clever one in the iliad; he lived to write the story that we all know and to retake his family. Achilles died in the siege of Troy, taking the city. That is all you need to know.

I see those old images and know that’s why tranny/traps were extremely rare, or were exceptional circus level freaks back then. Why? With “standards” of femininity like that, no dude is going to fool anybody.
The real “War” has not been on masculinity. Masculinity is indestructible (when men realize it’s OK to be masculine). The war is on femininity. Best evidence? Look around. And the fact that fat nerds can take hormones and try to pass themselves off as girls shows us just how wrecked it is. Heck in Seattle he would not even have to shave.

Heh. That says everything about personal preferences right there. When I’d looked the redhead over, the other two disappeared from the picture.

The pics won’t help. The Boomers saw the real thing and yet their sense of aesthetics seems unoffended by the current state of affairs. And demographics is destiny. The pics would only speak to those who view them as illustrating a cultural inheritance that their ancestors squandered – the rapidly declining % of the population made up of Americans. The various foreigners replacing us won’t view them any differently than they would a photo of Meiji Japan – something foreign and unrelatable.

To be fair to the boomers, they were highly susceptible to the mind poison propaganda because it was delivered slowly and they had not experienced the downside and thought that negroes could be taught to act like humans or already did. Motown was a way to create that perception along with movies like to Sir with Love or Guess who’s Coming to Dinner. Every TV show had an episode where the white characters were confronted with their “bigotry” by some poor upstanding negro family that remained poor because of our endemic racism. They were naïve good whites then, everywhere, as in Minnesota today. No one flooded the country with Somalis squatemalans yet either. Look today at how these modern idiots cling to their mind poison.

I remember when I was young and they would show commercials for Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? Me and my older brother would look at each other and say “the nigger”!

Most people don’t miss it til its GONE Igor. The 1960s Boomers were victims themselves. They were lied to by the Lugenpresse and Marxists. They had it all and FELT INVINCIBLE. Its a Youth thing. The enemy used the SAFETY and SENSE OF INVINCIBILITY to make their parasite pachyderm pitch of “fairness” and “hepping dumb brown victims” of bad old Daddy. The fatties and uglies of the welfare ghetto are the result. Be a Surrogate Mom to a helpless baby. A brown rapist baby.
Do not feed the Locusts. Ants are hard working, but those grasshoppers are a fearsome and terrible legacy of death and starvation. The locust knows not of “fair”. Kill it while its young. Do not let it grow to swarm. They do not BUILD. They take prosperity and EAT IT TIL THEY AND IT DIES.

No regret from today’s women as to what ‘happened’. In any case, the fatties of today are already ruining it for beautiful women because that’s the competition. They will brook no return to the age of beauty, of class.

Yes, ironically those statues might have had the opposite effect on Romans than what was intended: made them complacent instead of feeling the urgency of the loss.
Rome lasted over 2,000 years, and really continues today in many ways, obvious and otherwise. I don’t think this is an effective example.

I was eating lunch at the local Gyro place and they had Friends on. This was a show I had completely forgotten about, never really watched it but all the normal chicks loved it and imitated everything about the three female stars. I was shocked by just how wholesome young people used to look in the mid 90s. Now the women are all tatted up like Amy Winehouse, strange piercings, strange loud color highlights in their hair. Guys going around with strange mullah beards, creepy “sleeves” like hoodlums, holes in their earlobes like the practice of some strange cannibal tribe. This is truly Generation Bastard, a product of growing up in too lax an environment where even the two parent family children are surrounded by vast number of bastards at school setting the cultural tone. A nation gone down the tubes.

I knew a lot of girls like this in high school in the early 1960s. By the time that we were in college, in the late 1960s, they were all feminists. Don’t let their looks deceive you.

Footage of everyday life from past decades (I’d say roughly post-WW1 to right before 9/11) is hugely popular on YouTube, and it seems to be so for every demographic. It ain’t just whitey who senses that a lot has been lost when viewing these videos. I remember stumbling across some 1970s footage of Soul Train, and the comments on it were from an endless stream of dindus talking about how classy and confident and real the bruthas and sistahs of the past were in comparison to the ones shuffling around now.

I am reading a terrific book about ancient Rome. Oh, if we could but revive that epoch and combine it with National Socialism. We would have Utopia/Whitopia.

TL;DR pictures may help you decide what you want but they won’t get you there.
Ideology, Will and maybe Bullets shot in the right direction will save America.
Pictures of the past might given you something to fight for but until an ideal comes along that is strong enough to get people to kill and die for it, real America can’t be saved.
No half measures, no “one weird trick” no running away pretending to be Cinnicinatus of your own mountain. Fight and win or lose.
And note this doesn’t have to mean civil war and mass death either, too many on the Right won’t even fight the culture war , won’t build parallel subversion resistant institutions , hell won’t even avoid the Poz.
Right now we need more than anything or core set of beliefs built in a way where the Left’s political influence can be kept far away and once we have an ideology that isn’t a rehash of a failed one like say the Leftists NDSAP that so many seem to like, maybe we can make things work
Pictures help but only work gets you there
A last thing, credit is do even to people who post here much less people who run blogs and such. That is fighting the culture war. Its not much but its far more than many do and its a worthwhile start.

The Roman Empire fell when the State got bigger (debasing the denarius by taking away the silver, subsidizing the non-productive and foreing barbarian migrants to the wealthy Rome) weakening the institution of Paterfamilii and ruining the family unit, peasants were disgusted by the ruling class.
Barbarians at the moment of invasion found Rome broken to pieces from the inside.

The Romans made statues of the Germanic body type. Their art was a premonition of the sack of Rome. What photographs and statues do we make now? Wierd abstractions that look like jails or effigies of nogs.
