Chalk up another loss for the “divorce experts” (aka the “man-hating feminist cunts, phaggy white knight enablers, demagogic politicians, and greedy lawyers”): the financial impact of divorce hits men hardest.
The Australian Institute of Family Studies has found divorced people aged over 55 had less disposable income and fewer assets than their married counterparts.
The study also said men end up worse off, but this is in contrast to the views of divorce experts, who say older women are the ones who are missing out financially. […]
The study examined the financial consequences of divorce for up to 3,000 older Australians between 2001 and 2016, using data from the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics Surveys.
It found that during this period, there had been a 10 per cent increase in divorce.
The research also found that men were slightly [ed: “slightly”? see below] worse off than women when it came to household disposable income.
Click on the direct link to the study for actual numbers on how men are getting ass-raped by the divorce industrial complex:
Australian Institute of Family Studies Director, Anne Hollonds said the study focused on people who had divorced on average 15 to 20 years ago and found their finances remained in a weaker position than their married counterparts.
“Our analysis shows that divorced men and women have less household disposable income than their married counterparts at this later stage in life. On average divorced single men were $10,000 worse off and divorced single women were $6,300 worse off over the 16 years,” she said.
This is in Australia, an Anglosphere nation as overrun with man-hating feminist idiocy as any Inner Hajnalian formerly all-White nation, so you can assume the same study in the US would have similar results.
The study doesn’t speculate why divorced men are financially harmed worse than are divorced women, but I can offer a few guesses why:
- there is more institutional discrimination against older men in the job market than exists for older women seeking work
- divorced men (have to) spend more of their own money to attract a new lover, whereas divorced women can leverage their cooking skills and holes to gain access to a new man’s money
- divorce on the whole redistributes money from men to women
- alimony and child support costs fall largely on divorced men
What’s funny is that a raft of studies show that men are financially more responsible than are women, so the “divorce gap” in household disposable income that favors women could conceivably be a lot smaller or even reversed if divorced women didn’t have the option (mostly unavailable to divorced men) to cajole new lovers to pick up the tab.

From very occasional poster,
My ex gets 30% of my military retirement until I die (her lawyer screwed up twice–she was eligible for 34% and he didn’t even ask for SBP until it was way too late and he was legally not allowed to). She $2,000 a month in alimony for the first four years after the divorce, so she got over $3,200 a month free and clear. Yet she somehow managed to run up $80,000 in debt in the first year after we divorced.
Wait, the children lived with me. After a few years she was up to $30,000 behind in unpaid child support. Took her to CS court, was asked why I was harassing this poor woman. After the first hearing, I told my lawyer that if the roles were reversed I would have left that hearing room in cuffs. My lawyer disagreed. After the second hearing where the judge nearly held her in contempt just for attending (child support court is technically the state vs the payer, as the father I was irrelevant), she agreed.
Five years after the divorce, my first child is a full ride scholarship at a decent private college. My second is a senior in high school. I am wasting money fighting her annual round of contempt claims, but so what, I managed to rear them safe from her and her thoroughly documented physical and emotional abuse. I make a healthy six figures.
What made it possible was I read all the warnings about divorce and divorce court, and took them seriously. I documented thoroughly. I didn’t waste the court’s time or my money on anything irrelevant to the well-being of our children, who were themselves insistent to the social welfare thugs that they wanted to live with their father, period. I knew that any financial good deed to the ex would be wasted and would mean nothing to the court, so I gave none. Her lies to people cost me jobs I had lined up, so I went unemployed for years and let her deal with the consequences.
I’ve told many men this, but they don’t get it. They are their own worst enemies. Develop a cold heart and steel yourself so that you don’t react to anything she does or says. Concede nothing, so many men give away the farm. I had to flee the house in the middle of the night with our children, but I had a place to go to and called the police along the way. Guess what, it’s just a legal for men to do that as women. I filed for the TCO, the TRO and the house, how many men do that? What did the constabulary say when they arrived at my refuge? “About damn time you did something, mate.”
I am the exception to the crippling poverty, and there is a ton of luck behind that outcome, but fortune favors the prepared. I knew the truth about women, and about the family court system, so I didn’t let myself get financially raped while crying about fairness. Finding myself on a tilted playing field, I figured out how to tilt it in my children’s favor. I was accused of being dirty, cold, unkind, unforgiving, I never cared. No one, but no one, cares about my children like I do, no matter how much they say they do (usually for a gummint paycheck). No fucks given.
These war stories from the divorce trenches are tough to read, but every man should read them because a little preparedness and clarity of mind beats getting caught in the id-shredding shrapnel of a scorned woman with her merc army of lawyers and judges.

I could write an entire novel on the divorce.
one highlight…I was investigated by the FBI bc she accused me of being the DC Sniper.
Now I’m sure Jay will chime right in with “OMG that can’t be true bc I say so” maybe it’s cooler than his story or whatever, but I can motherfucking document it. It’s in black letter. That’s the most hilarious, but least serious, thing I was accused of by her and her bullshit made it into FBI files that were used for a negative adjudication on a clearance in DoD at one point. The crap she said was all buried down there in their notes. Like wtf. An entire litany of nonsense that I had to answer to.
The advice of the divorce dude in the OP is spot-on. Concede nothing. Be ruthless. NEVER lose your cool, EVER. Always have your story pre-planned. Play the game and do what your lawyer tells you to do. NEVER go against what a judge’s order dictates EVEN IF your “spouse” tells you it’s ok. I know guys who were locked up because the woman called the guy over despite an EPO and then she changed her mind while he was there- took away in cuffs and jailed.
Child custody is a long road where your spouse will have to utterly implode in a documented fashion over the course of a year to your kids’ detriment for you to have any chance at overcoming the female-primary court system. And yeah that divorce set you back probably 10 years or more on your retirement plans.
This is why I told my now ex-gf (along with lose weight) that I was never getting m@rr!ed in the US. It’s absolutely nothing but a naked short on your life. There is literally nothing a man gains from this arrangement, and you are signing over unlimited surety or liability in return for…nothing.

Speaking from personal experience, an ex-wife can continue to screw you long after the divorce is finalized.
I got divorced in 2002. In 2013 I get a letter from the IRS about back taxes owed from the year 2000.
I recall that as part of the divorce settlement, the ex owed some back taxes for 2000 which we paid for out of the equity from the sale of the house so I contact the IRS to sort out their mistake.
I discover that sometime in 2010, two years after the divorce had been finalized, she managed to get a “wronged spouse” judgment and had the IRS refund her the amount already paid. At no point did I get any sort of heads up about this until the IRS began the collections process with interest and penalties.
It’s not a trivial amount and so far, every IRS official I’ve dealt with have been “too bad, so sad for you” and have been unwilling to pursue her for remedy.
Just because you’re divorced, don’t expect the rape to stop.

A college of my dads who was a medical doctor divorced his wife. Also a doctor. She hooked a up with a Bad boy type ( she was already middle aged) she made unfounded allegations in family court. Had his license suspended, luckily he had cash reserves. Cleared his name. But even after the case was “settled” She continued to come after him for money and continued to make shit up. There is no protection from a crazy woman even after you have separated yourself from her.

There are ZERO repercussions that I have ever seen for my ex making serious accusations, including as recently as 2 years ago (that I was starving my youngest son). None. No perjury, no sanction, nothing. Ever.
The judge did laugh at her, and tell her she had serious problems. But she lied to his face about being current on child support. To his face. No penalty. This was the ONE TIME CPS came in on my side instead of as a result of an investigation she instigated to fuck with me.
They have TOTAL LICENSE to do and say whatever they want and the Court and System just expect you to take it “like a man”…it’s no wonder so many guys implode. Women can swear out affidavits that are total fucking lies on every level, patent lies, and they have no consequences.
This is why the system needs to burn…bitch you want fucking equal pay let’s put your ass in this hot seat, you go run into combat with a rifle…fucking cunts.

Jeez. I’ve heard horror stories like yours. Collections is one I hear about a lot. A loan comes out in both your names on say her car or credit cards, divorce occurs, the judge orders that she pay the debt, but if she doesn’t the credit collector will come after you, harass you, and ruin your credit. They don’t care who pays or who was ordered to pay as long as they get paid.

Let me give you another reason: it’s unnatural for men to want to take resources away from the mother of their children. I was financially devastated from mine because I truly tried to set the ex and my kids up well (and I still held out hope we’d get back together). Even when people specifically warned me about this danger, I still went ahead. Everything about divorce is poisonous, but everything in clown world is poisonous.

that’s because women have no such desire to protect their children and do what’s best for them
rarely will you find a woman who doesn’t take the man for everything he’s got and make it almost impossible for him to have a relationship with his kids
only a couple times have i seen a situation where the kids turned out great after a split and it was only because the mom let the dad have equal custody and didn’t rake him over the coals and make him dirt poor

Quite the opposite. A now older woman finds after divorce that there are an infinite number of younger, tighter holes being given out for free.
And whereas before she only had to tolerate her beta husband, she finds that she has to give it up on date 3 to an infinite number of beta schlubs older than her former husband in the hopes of landing a new man long term.

Attractive, successful 46 yo!! broad in my building just moved out- to move in with her 24 year old new fiancee.
28 year old former mud shark (long reddish brown hair, cute face but plenty of miles – any of us would bang if not for the MS) I just saw climbing out of a ferrari f430.

they have access to all the lonely divorced dads they meet at the kids soccer game, the young dudes at the bar out on girl’s night, etc etc.
they may not get the successful man in his prime who is scouting for younger tighter but they do get men. pretty decent looking ones too.
every couple i see around here that’s a divorced mom and new guy, is a younger hotter looking dude with an older dumpy looking broad who thinks a bun in her hair, track pants, and a north face jacket is dressing up. sad

The thirst is real indeed and why we lose… and will keep losing until the supermarket shelves are empty and the satellite dish stops working.
For every barely decent looking cooze out there, no matter her attitude, there will be five guys ready to pay attention to her… that their motive might be merely for a quick bang is immaterial, she’s getting validated for every- and anything she does… and most of ’em will actually hang around and gf them up for extended periods, let alone even seriously think of wêdlock.
In my old neighborhood there were two divorcees, with two children each, under the age of 10, and both tubby… one a real land whale… and within a year they both had new hubbies.
The fact that these orbiters and suitors might not be alphas or the type of men these gals would actually strive for is immaterial. Betabux are out there, growing on the trees, ready to be picked by damn near any harridan at will…
… and if she’s just a little pleasant, and looks somewhat decent, she’ll have to beat them away with a stick.

Yep yep and yep. Here’s what I’ve seen countless times – the woman is a shitty wife, the man has had enough, he tells her it’s over, he’s filing for divorce. He moves out of the residence. She wails, she cries her eyes out, screeches that her life is over and her heart is utterly and permanently broken.
Two weeks later, she has found a new dick to jump on. While the man whiles away in a crappy apartment in a shitty neighborhood, which is all he can afford, and finds himself celibate for the next year or two.
[CH: there are limits to how long women can play the game (not nearly as long as men can play it). i’ve seen way more beat up divorced women who remain unloved and bitter about having to settle for dating even more beta men than they used to reject back in college. sure, some exceptionally well preserved women can cock hop, but remember that sex isn’t what makes women happy and fulfilled. women want commitment and love. empty one night stands (or two week stands) tend to leave these divorced women more embittered than they were when they were married to their lickspittle chumps. it helps to think like a woman when analyzing sexual market dynamics. “jumping on a new dick” isn’t nearly the psychological nor emotional victory for women that “jumping into new pussy” is for men.]

Australia is unique in some ways.
We are a very large, yet highly centralized country.
Of our total population is around 25 million; the top three cities’ population is:
Sydney 4,741,874
Melbourne 4,677,157
Brisbane 2,326,656
So that’s close to half the entire population in three capital cities.

Also, look at the growth figures at that link. They are indicative of the Australian population Ponzi scheme where we are importing hordes of Chinese and Indians.

The divorce system is designed to entice women to break up marriages. So they definitely incentivize it by making massive financial transfers from men to women. I know from personal experience the money transfer is huge and unfair. As a whole men pay nearly all of the child support and alimony. Like 95%+ of all payments.
And yet, I have to agree with the feminists on this one. The men end up better off after a few years.
1. Men earn more and manage money better
2. An unmarried man’s household may have less disposable income than when he was married, but in marriage the wife is spending 3/4 of it anyway. After divorce he finds he actually have more of his money to spend.
3. A man wanting to marry again finds it SUPER EASY. In your 30’s with anything going on, like a stable job? There are tons of desperate women in late 20’s early 30’s wanting to marry. The more income they earn, the easier it is to marry them. Any man who is not an idiot can marry a woman younger than his former wife and who earns 90% of what he does. So on remarriage his financial situation is better. Women OTOH find they have greatly reduced value in the marriage market. They end up having to settle for a man who is older and likely has lower financial prospects than her former husband – if they can find a man at all.

Realistically, I got wolf-whistled at and had my ass pinched a time or two, but I know many military men who got it much, much worse, and so I feel I smell like a rose.
I hesitate to mention a good friend’s name, but his story is all over the internet in his own name. He was a special forces pilot, he fought a fierce years-long battle with a true psycho bitch from Hell (mine was only the standard narcissistic personality disorder, and if you’re smart you can manipulate that trait in her so she makes disastrous choices to hurt her own cause in a divorce). She gave him a permanent disability with an iron pan to the head. The VA asks us about PTSD, we tell them Hell, yeah, but from our wives, not from combat. He won custody of the children and things were settled for a few years. Then when he was in a particular mountainous shithole a new judge ordered him to appear before her majesty or face fines of $1,0000 a day. She didn’t care if he was flying missions for our country, this affirmative action judge was more important, and she completely shredded the existing divorce decree with no cause. He went to his CO and withdrew himself from flying missions because he was unsafe, maybe fatally distracted, threatening the lives of his crew because of these women’s actions.
She ran up $20,000 of credit card debt after they divorced. Never mind, court held him liable for it. After a few years of fighting it, he found that she had gotten the debt forgiven by the credit card company–there actually was no debt to pay! He fought his case up to the West Virginia Supreme Court, who looked the other way and said he had to pay it anyway. Iffen you hadn’t noticed, the entire WVSC resigned en masse in recent weeks to avoid criminal prosecution for their corruption. My friend has no choice but to pay her $20,000 for debt she never had and he never incurred.
Compared to that insanity, my case was a temple of reason, sound judgment and even wisdom. Most important, though, was not me saving myself. I saved my children, who have their scars (they never really had a mother, and the one they had committed repeated physical and emotional abuse, said the investigators). That’s all I wanted to do, and if the system sniffed and licked and snarled at me like a pack of wolves, I nonetheless got my children past the system safely.
Again, I’ll say it: arm yourself for a knife fight in a phone booth, concede nothing, seize every opportunity you can, realize that no one, not even your well-paid lawyer, cares for your children like you do, and prepare to fight for them against everyone. Tell the social workers to fuck off at every opportunity. Take pride in being the insensitive asshole you will be accused of being, because that’s what it’s going to take to get your children through that trial.

First, what Trav777 is equally true, especially that she will never, never, never be held accountable for her actions. And that is one of the areas where men kill themselves–they torture themselves with frustration and anger over how she gets away with libel and slander and lying to the court. I found it crucially essential to not worry in the least about whether or not she got what she “deserved.” Let it go or be dragged, was my motto for so much of this shit.
In case you’re still here, Glengarry, think of it in terms of “frame.” Was I treated fairly? Wrong question. There is no such thing as “fair,” especially in family court. My frame was, How do I get my children what they need? Anything else was irrelevant. That made it much easier to ignore the “unfair” shit, and to leave my ego out of it. I would not have made it without that frame shift, and I’ll tell you that I think that made all the difference to the judges, too, that I never brought up any of that crap, only what was needed for our children.
“Our” children, too. Never “My” children. Little things like that make huge differences to a judge. Take every advantage you can, and trust your instincts, as I did when I cut off my lawyer’s line of questioning twice in court.
Finally, my divorce began while I was stationed in England in the Navy working for an Army colonel on an Air Force base. I filed in the appropriate US jurisdiction, but all the key elements (custody, residency, visitation) were originally done in the UK system. Whenever possible, pit every single element involved against each other. She convinced this Army colonel to make my life Hell (until she threatened to complain to EUCOM about how he wasn’t doing anything for her, the his tune changed); he had to answer to Air Force JAGs for her accusations against me; I had Navy JAGs writing detailed answers making clear that I met and greatly exceeded Navy requirements so stop interfering in a civil process. Pit the UK court against the US court. Pit the UK social welfare thugs against the Air Force Family Advocacy Program. I even cut off my lawyer’s line of questioning twice in my last court appearance because she wasn’t leading to telling the judge what I wanted him to know, which was her documented history of abuse (six judges into the case, he was never going to read back that far in the files). My instincts were right, he suddenly began to question me about what he didn’t know before.
Reframe the whole thing in your own terms, not theirs, which is essentially hers. Then play the game to win in your frame. And yes, I read Heartiste back then and understood exactly what I was doing in that context.

Tax that poor fool to bejasus, and have him tossed in a dungeon when he’s broke.
Fees, fines, rents and taxes. There is just no limit to what they won’t take. They’d sell his organs to traffickers, if they weren’t already wrecked through work, booze, stress and smoking.

In Australia, at the 2016 Census, there were 959,000 single-parent families with children recorded.
A total of 10.4% of all households had a single parent family as the only, or primary family in the household.
This was down slightly from 10.6% in 2011, due to an increase in other categories. Nevertheless the total number of single-parent families increased by more than 50,000 over 5 years.

A man gets divorced, he typically has to say bye-bye to half his money, half his stuff. And cutting his net worth in half does indeed cause his value in the SMP to take a hit.
And that’s a hit his attractive ex-wife doesn’t face. It’s not like a woman has to give up one of her tits if she gets divorced.
