A parade is not a battlefield exercise. Its purposes are discipline, pride, and solidarity between men—esprit de corps. For those reasons, armies that put on the best parades do indeed perform best on the battlefield. Historically, Prussia and Germany are the best examples.
I once spoke to an elderly East German about this general subject. He was in a position to have known whereof he spoke—and whence he was strictly military-minded.
Although he hated Communism, he considered the DDR’s army, the Nationale Volksarmee (NVA), to have been the legitimate successor to the Hitler-era Heer, and what he called “the last German army”—emphasis, German. For the Communists were ruthless pragmatists. Marxist doctrine was a high-stakes Game—but winning wars was a serious business; and when it came to war preparation, in the DDR, the Communists exploited the best qualities of that legendary “nation of soldiers”.
Because the NVA (fortunately!) had never seen any real battlefield action, my contact specifically pointed to the NVA’s magnificent parades as evidence of their manly discipline and vitality. Indeed, if you hit up jewtube for some old NVA march videos, you will see that they are basically Hitler’s men in enemy uniforms, under an enemy flag.
He was contemptuous of American soldiers. He specifically derided their parades. Also, he recounted, as every war historian knows, that Hitler had put his backup team on the Western Front, while sending all his best crack units to the East. Most of Stalin’s army was racial dregs, man for man; but they outnumbered the Germans by upwards of 12:1, and the White Russians were man-for-man much more formidable than American soldiers. If Hitler had been able to move to the Western Front his best Heer Divisions, and especially, the bulk of his elite SS units, the Americans would have been promptly reduced to a red paste. And badly as Goering had fumbled the Luftwaffe, I should ask, what could have been done in the West by Rudel? The RAF was no slouch, but it was not better than the best White Russian airmen. If the Russians couldn’t stop Rudel from personally destroying over 500 tanks, etc., etc., do you suppose that the Anglo-Americans could have done any better?

US debt is owed to a lot of foreign countries, however, most of it is actually owed to US citizens. Meaning, social security, pension funds, government bonds, and so forth. The US public would be ” slaug*htered ” financially.

So our money is worthless but everyone is still willing to treat it as having value. Sounds ideal. Let’s build the wall, militarize both borders, fund law enforcement to engage in mass deportations and arrest employers of foreigners and then shower cash on any foreigner willing to renounce his citizenship and leave. Then we can default and start anew. And we’d have a built in check on the growth of government since no one would be willing to buy government debt after that.
Of course, none of that will happen. It is (((their))) country now and and they choose how the money is spent/borrowed/printed. We will be living in an increasingly poor and increasingly totalitarian state. The only question is whether there is a sudden collapse or just continued gradual decline.
